1.
Forget the pups. Get the J-Retro first and see how you go. The J-Retro should deliver on all but the shittest pups. Do NOT sell your Jazz if you already love its playability. That is MUCH harder to replicate with a new bass.
im with Silddx.. nothing wrong with Fender's USA pups, with a good preamp.. its not a sh*te foundation to build on.. i fitted my old custom shop jazz with nordstrands and a redeemer circuit,.. took out the Nordstrands and it was way better.. this was maybe because i prefered the single coil sound and the Nords were twin
2. Skej21,..... my lord that is a question that even the best on BC cant, or cant be bothered to work out the answer to.. sorry to be rude.... what is the bass in question..?
3. Man i like this bass.. i want...
4.
Anybody with OCD wouldn't own a Dingwall anyway. Frets have to be absolutely parallel don't you know.
not just that...from a man who had OCD, you would have to play the same note twice to even out the numbers.. always in groups of two it was for me.. i was a frickin knightmare with odd time..
5. Thanks Scott.. Informative, Charming and funny all in one vid.. any more of these coming? whats with the glove Scott?
6. i think there both gorgeous.. could i have both? the Cherry Modulus is a little rarer.... ok its red...
7. quote... Often a dull sound when unplugged is due to a poor quality nut.. really cant see a how a nut can make your tone dull..even if the nut is cut too tight, sorry GW.... there are so many factors that could be at play... some instruments just dont resonate as well as others, depending on the wood used, and the general construction... i agree on the pickups but LF's are expensive... some good ole Fender USA pups are great, or some Wizards.. i have played Squires though that are very resonant and bright.. its mighty hard to tell without playing your bass...in my opinion i wouldnt spend any money until you take it to a tech at a shop who knows basses
8. even i want this back now... damn that sexy modulus temptress!!!
9. Why oh why has this not gone??!!
10. i dont mind a tadpole of fret buzz.. its got to be minimal though.. adds to the growl a little.
11. My sisters husband has one of these and it BADASS!.. really good P Bass..
12. ive never noticed any good things from buying a brand new bass.. apart from its new.. but what does that get you? especially for the extra cash you have to pay.. for me used is the way to go.. for most of the time a used bass plays better.. IMO.. why buy a brand new jazz when you can get a nearly new un scratched jazz for half the price.. the beauty of bass chat
13. Selling my beloved Redeemer Circuit.. i have used this on three jazz basses and its awsome..No colour is added from this circuit.. clarity, punch, and articulation is what this circuit gives you... comes with jack socket.. sorry dont have the original packaging.. very easy to install with no routing.. i fit the battery in the existing cavity.. its a great preamp for someone who doesnt want too many options from there bass EQ.. for me its just a jazz bass tone but way better.. bought from Mark at BD a while ago.. link.. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...s_Redeemer.html a few other links.. 16.
Why not just get a normal Fender Precision with tortoise shell plate and maple 'board instead? It's not like there is anything special about the bass-it's just a stock P-bass.
exactly..
17.
What do you mean? weight wise or sound? It sounded great actually, once I swapped the original pickups with vintage stacked Seymour Duncans, the bass sounded better than the real thing.
sorry.. sound wise.. i have an Audere to put in it also..
18. nothing much in it then?
19. im thinking i wont even notice the difference between maybe alder or ash..
