5.
There's any number I could have picked, but plumped for this seeing as it kicks off with the bass. Great playing/tone. Allen McGrier, I believe?
that is fantastic.... good call dude...
6. imo.... although its alot faster in tempo, than we might be used to, i think this is fabulous,, Maceo Parker is so so good on this ... for me, the performance of this man is enough.. the things on top are just pure gold..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ni5ELUVM2eI#!

8. he didnt know the rules dude... its an expensive bass... give the man a little time
9.
I would recommend the TRB 5 that "bubinga" currently has up for sale. And you could save yourself £500 squids
ha.. thanks Chris.. well it is a fantastic bass and i appreciate the plug..... but imo, there are better basses that have a better deeper cut horn though... i never really understood why some makers make it hard to get up there.. like Andy said the Lakland 55's have great access to the dusty end.. check out the Mayones Jabba.. maybe a little out of your price range, but second hand its worth a punt and a haggle.. if i was in your position i would look at Ziggy's custom jazz 5... great access to any frets you want.....beautiful bass too..
10. this is so damn funk..

14. i swear if someone played this when i was asleep i would start moving..i smile everytime i hear it.... the great staccato piano at the start, really adds to its funk... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YWV2gniRrc&feature=related
15. just goes to show how popular your thread was/is Pete.... got to love Pleasure.. like a cross between EWF and the Ohio Players.. the great sound of a jazz bass... what i love about this band it wasnt just straight up funk, it had some very melodic elements in there sound...
16. pearl tuners?
17.
And here it is, my Xmas present from myself! This bass is beautiful! Photos don't do it justice, it must be seen live to appreciate the colours. Tone wise it has plenty of growl and piano-like highs, with a bit of knob twisting it can access a good range of sounds, even if the mids knob is really really sensitive. Chording is a pleasure! I don't slap much, but for the little I tried I'm really comfortable with the string spacing, and for the fingerstyle now I'm just a couple days into it but I'm already getting comfortable with that (coming from a 6stringer with narrower spacing). The neck is fast. I LOVE the impressive width of the fingerboard...aircraft landing size! Construction quality is really top notch, the top has a nice contrast, and I LOVE the pearl tuners...Inlay work is beautiful too!! I'll bring it to do some setup (the action can be set lower and I'd like that ) and it needs small sanding on the 21th fret, G string height (there is a small bump in the fret). Probably will get a removable ebony ramp as well All in all, I'm still in the process of 'feeling at home' with the instrument, but I'm already loving it! Happy holidays everyone!!
that is just stunning.. look at those inlays..!!!!!????
18. im a sucker for these exotic not well known jazz basses.. very cool Zig
19. blimey John, you having a clearout or what? good luck with your sales dude..
20. thanks Chris..
21. I have decided to sell my Yamaha TRB5 because of a family financial problem.. its a mid 90's bass.. the MK1 (after) the MK1 P.. there is no doubt, this bass is amazing.. a real pro feeling bass for not too much money... really good condition but the bridge has tarnishing.. a few small dings here and there.. the tone is amazing, lots of power with growl and punchy mid range bass....for those who may not know these are a world apart from the 1000 series, i would say they play better than a Lakland 55-02 with it being a 34 inch scale. and to my ears the tone is way better the Yamaha EQ is externally and internally adjustable, with its internal finger wheels, and pozi drive cut and boost.... i cant weigh the bass but its not heavy.. lighter than my old Fender custom shop 4.... its hard to price these basses as not many come up.. i will start off at 500 squid.. im open to offers but these basses are worth this imo.. if my family financial problem resolves itself i will withdraw this bass..
22. wow this is superb... what a bass line...dig the keyboards...everything about this is great..
23. along with learning how to set up your own bass, take it to a pro and watch him if you can.. setting a good low action is hard on some instruments.. remember too low can choke the low..
