just thought i would share this fascinating non visual documentary about James Jamerson.... what sort of rut.. be more specific.... ? check out Scott Devines bass lessons online if its a theory one.....

there is no TRICK to his style... he has a unique way of playing a groove...... stop with the emulations, and get your own dude.....nothing good comes from going over the same ground..

i think DR Low riders are awesome... expensive yes but worth it... hex core for extra stiffness.. you can get a real low action on these,.. an amazing precise tone on a jazz bass i do prefer the round core strings though, for a bit of floppy growl on a jazz bass.. MM's are my string of choice...i dont want to sound like Marcus Miller but they feel great to play, and they have a great bottom end to them... i will probably never buy another brand of string...

i dont care how good he is, hes either said this under his breath sometime, or hes talking nonsense.... i hate all these minor details to a bassists tone.... its total rubbish.. its in the playing that matters
