1. i wanted to put a better bridge on my jazz bass, but after a bit thought i was wondering why i really needed to... the tone of my jazz is great with new strings on it.. obviously mine has the bent metal bridge....... i really cant see a 75 jazz with a high mass bridge sounding that much better imo high mass bridges are a marketing ploy.. just like string through bodies etc.
 2. i had a Modulus VJ4 jazz bass... it was totally stunning... quilted maple, full graphite.... the best bass i ever played.... But... the tone was not at all like a jazz bass.. not a bad tone but for me, it had no character.... the fretless VJ may be a different bass because of the fact that its a fretless... i dont know.... an unlined fretless VJ4 Genesis, with an ebony board... now thats a great bass

 4. not at all... i think most BC members would say this is some crackin bass playing.... just not the sort that they love...
 5. Yep.. i know this a very subjective question... but what i think comes close, is a bass line that does everything required, in a balanced way, to compliment the chords/rythm/song but show the players own personality.. this Freddie Washington on his P bass is just groove central imo... i cant imagine someone playing a better line on this track.. subjective of course.. 22.
How long did it take you to get it to sound OK? Had my first experience on it in my lesson today and it's sooooooo hard, although I know I will be chuffed to bits when I can do it
as long as it took for it to sound like music.. slap has such a taboo for such a strange reason.. and its because of crap fashion... there has never been such a curiosity for tapping, fingerstyle, pick playing, .. .. slap is a technique like any other musical technique.. it should be approached in the same way... imo keep some space in your slap playing.. it makes the world of difference
