1. Im aware that this a vast spectrum of musical artists. For me there are lots. But this album stands out for me. Its just fantastic. every record is great. its a testament to Mick's song writing imo. Picture Book is the best album by far that Simply Red recorded in my opinion. . Its funky/pop/soul at its best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AkLpyiJ11o
2. still open to offers as nothing is solid.
3. thanks for the offer Shroombass but i may have traded the bass.
4. Talk about a guy who's a builder and a player. !! Awsome playing from Adrian. keep watching.
5. The Caprice looks like a Pbass cross Sterling. Imo they look like very cheap basses. have they run out of ideas.? they are probably very well made but do nothing for my eye. I think they need to think more innovative, i don't like the Bongo. but its different and they were trying. thats what matters.
6. would love a good Maruszczyk Elwood Jazz Bass. or a Moon Jazz bass. Sadowsky (no 24 fret) Fender AVRI 75, rosewood only. Sei Jazz.
7. Mint (apart from a ding on the back of the neck) Lakland 55-02. I'm selling this instrument and an Aguilar amp or Cab. (see amps and cabs for sale) Weight is 4.0 kg on my scales. its not a heavy bass. Ash body 19mm spacing DR Marcus Miller strings Maple neck and fret board Hipshot Licensed Tuners I think most know about how good these basses are. Huge focused B string. Amazing all rounder. Very comfortable instrument, and very user friendly USA made LH3 preamp. I do love the fact this bass has the same preamp and pickups as the USA Lakland's. it sound's pretty amazing. Imo apart from a SR5, or a Sei i once owned, these have the best neck's I've ever played. I personally think, this is the best 5 string ever made at this price point. A modern classic. If any one wants the Lakland or either the Aggy Head or Cab for a trade I'm all ears. Im looking for a really nice Jazz Bass. preferably a 4 and active. But i will consider a passive 4 string. i will consider 5 string jazz basses also. or i will sell the Lakland and either head or cab, and go from there. The Lakland comes in a Lakland hard case. thanks for looking.
8. Withdrawn.
9.
Easiest thing to get an accurate true value is do a search through the BC sales section. Problem with asking an open question,is that someone thinking of buying will say less than the true value (after all they want it cheap), folks who have them or looking to sell, will want to say more than market value! :/ The truth is that they are worth what someone is prepared to pay.
Yeah sure. I'm a little clueless on Amp Cab prices. Thanks for the advice.
10. Any idea what an Aggy AG500sc and a Aggy GS212 are worth..?
11. What a beauty.!!!
12. Email sent. whats the weight by the way.?
13. yeah me too. !!
14.
Willie Weeks or Nathan Watts - what a choice!
Donny Hathaway was blessed. Only Pino matches him.
15.
A defining bass line. To a certain extent Nathan Watts was lucky that his signature licks fitted right in. Maybe his style was in Stevie Wonders mind when he wrote the song.
He wasn't lucky imo, Nathan could play any genre. Stevie was going to choose Willie Weeks, but Nathan played and he liked him.
16.
and some bloke called Dizzy on the trumpet? Not bad.
am i the only person that thinks that Dizzy is really not pushing his trumpet out there on this record. especially next to Stevies chromatic harmonica.
17. Maybe its the way different people approach writing music. Prince writes his lyrics first on one record, then he came up with You Sexy MF from his bass line. creativity is variable.
18. Tis why i love music like Victor. as well as other instrumental only music. his playing is very incredible on this Earth Wind and Fire classic. if there is a bass player that speaks through his instrument its this guy. its wonderful bass playing through his effect that hes using. and great 2 part bass playing. Marcus Miller is another master when he uses his fingers.
19. When i listen to music i very rarely always listen to the lyrics of a song, sometimes i feel I'm missing out on something. I think i may be lyrically devoid. i get so much from the music and i analyse it. My wife has said to me " don't you know what this song is about" and i say no not really. sometimes i know the lyrics but I'm more absorbed in the sounds. i know I'm missing a lot, but its just what i do. My dad is a classical Pianist and a musical director and he said."Andrew there is more music in the music than the speech". Music (and the people who play it) for me has always been about sound expression. i do love Meshell Ngeocello's lyrics but its not my ears first point of call. Does anyone feel the same. ?
20.
Lovely stuff. Not my words but the words of Shakin' Stevens
ha ha. Excellent. i see there is an Alan Partridge fan in the crowd. Don't get me started on my Alan quote's
21. I love the film and one of my favourite actors is Gary Oldman, he's a very special talent imo. This song is from Bram Stoker's Dracula. I'm possibly on my own when thinking this is a fabulously emotional piece of music. The strings, the Harp, the whole orchestra are just imo fabulous. brings a tear to thine eye. Wojciech is such a master. the film score for this film is quite something. hes written scores for Roman Polanski's the Pianist. as we'll as many other's. Francis Ford Coppola specifically wanted him for this score and i can hear why. sadness is one of the most powerful emotions.
22. There is nothing quite like like this. Stevie on harmonica and Nathan Watts on bass. i just love this music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLEDT4jMtks
23.
Love sledgehammer, but recently discovered this:
Its a very special record. Kate Bush is a gem. one of the best love longs of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjEq-r2agqc
24. For me they are Climey Fisher. ish.. Love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkubQCI4Fxo
25.
The 1975 did this recently which I reckon was definitely inspired by 'Sledgehammer' amongst other 80s stuff. Okay, the video is not quite in the same league..
The 1975 are fantastic. they have a sound thats very 80"s but sound contemporary at the same time.
