1. That is sick.!! Fantastic instruments.
2.
Great playing and don't forget MK played a Fender Jazz for a while.
For sure, not one of Fender's greatest signature basses. Don't see them very often.
3. Ha ha. (edit, i missed it too) .. Impeccable bass playing. Love the fact he's playing MK's bass lines on a Marcus Miller Jazz .
4. Lakland Skyline JO4. Its not on par, it will be a lot better imo.
5.
https://www.youtube....e&v=zEdDw0eIGDs How about this ?
Yep love it Mike.
6. maybe too far too also, but im in Evesham.(an hour away from brum) You can come and try my Elwood 5 and a cup the wifes tea.
7. I don't want Marcus Miller all over the headstock of a bass. lovely bass though.
8. i got 1 out of 10
9. I remember this album was huge in London when i was 16/17.. Well its Incognito of course. Londons finest. Anyone who doesn't like that groove or slap bass is dead to me.
10. For me and a lot of Soul/jazz/hiphop lovers, its just a seminal album. Maceo Parker played on it, as did Paul Weller, Max Beesley Jnr.(incognito) Steve White, Masta Ace. And of course Femi and Marco. Its one of those albums that, you will never see another like it. Its music that is so very special, it influences so may other great albums from this genre. It makes me proud to be from the UK, and UK musicians like these guys still make great music.. Carleen Anderson has always been fantastic. its hard to believe its 26 years old. Very great band on there best. One of James Taylor, of JTQ's favourite albums. 11. Stop CNC routing your USA Fender's under the neck pickup !!! Do Fender not get that yet.??
12. Love the bass line. a better (imo) take on Chrissie Hyndes's record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8bA-VgGjlM
13. Fantastic tart she is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6A53k7DkUw
14.
Absolute shi*e live though. Was persuaded to spend some hard earned cash to go and watch her Karaoke show - basically her singing along to backing tracks. Loads of people walked out during the gig. I was hoping for a bit of Sly and Robbie but was more like Mr Blobby.
Its a shame you had that experience. She is as mad as a box of frogs yes, but when its a good live Grace Jones gig, its a good Grace Jones Live experience.
15. The gold star goes to Discreet.! Good lad. And Yes Sly and Robbie are legendary. don't get me started on those 2 musical magicians.
16. Androgynous has a theme with me.. the supreme musical women i listen to. well a couple anyways. She is EPIC in my opinion.Powerful personality, i pick and choose what i like from her because its not all good. some of her music is sh*te. She plays bass, piano and vilolin, but I'm wondering if anyone takes the time to find out. She's a monster in lots of ways, . I think she's fantastic and when she does good music, she does it very well. I love her version of Edith Piaf's, 'La Vie En Rose'. as do i love, Warm Leatheret, Private Life and, I've Seen that Face Before. Nipple to the Bottle. and of course Pull up to the Bumper and Slave to the Rhythm. She's as original as they come and when her music is good its amazing.. That's why i dig her. anyone tell me the actor at the start of this record gets a gold star.
17. Like paul h, who highlighted this guy for me,(as far as i know, his post went without notice) he thought he is great, and so do i, . This guy is fabulous, no doubt. Thanks for the heads up Paul. Love his voice
18.
I received this a couple of days ago - pristine condition original double vinyl album. Playing along to the title track is so enjoyable.
Good call. Fantastic album.!!
19. i would like the tone as near as, but obviously with an active punch. The Hausell's sound interesting. I had an East (a modern preamp) in a 75 Jazz a while back and it still sounded like a 75 Jazz bass but with more body to the tone. Im not sure if the pickups need changing or the preamp. I will probably start with the pre. its all a learning curve, but trying not to make it an expensive one. Like i said in my op I want the Jazz Bass tone with the oomph.
20. sh*t.!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favourite bands of all time. The soundtrack to most of my life. Very sad. He died of Parkinsons i believe. Who ever next. Of course Stevie Wonder and Prince are immortal…
21. a Celinder Jazz Bass for £1500.?
22. i do wonder how much of Miles Davis rubbed off on him. Whenever people talk that Jazz Bass growl, this is it imo. Hugely talented bass player. He's no Victor Wooten, but i wouldn't want him to be.
23. Its not his slap I'm after. But his finger style on a 5 string Jazz., and this unstoppable groove. His playing is great all the way through, but @ 3.40 its really great. It wouldn't be MM if he didn't slap for a bit. I adore this guys finger style. Very musical he always has been.Im no aware what instrument he's playing.
24. This Maruszczyk is a fantastic bass, but can my ears get on with it. Yes, but its fantastically to bright and clear and transparent. So no. Its got Delano 5 string singles with a Delano Sonar 2 band preamp. Ive got to be honest this setup maybe great for girls/guys who want play chords, harmonic stuff. For that it is amazing. But it aint me. the voicing is way to transparent and clean for my ears. Its the 60/70's Jazz bass tone with a lot of punch I'm after. Im not hugely knowledgeable about pickups, or preamps. I am aware of the Bartolini setup i had and i loved it on the Sei., i was actually thinking about putting some Fender single coils in it with a Bart or Sadowsky onboard. ? I want the Jazz bass tone with the oomph. I will start with DR's of course . If i could put it into 3 words. Fat/Warm/Clear i love the Marcus Miller tone. is he using Sadowsky preamp.? Not sure what pickups he's using.? any thoughts
25.

Fantastic is that. If that was the BBC when i was younger, it would have been epic.!! but i wasn't aware back then. !! subliminal funk…
