1. The thing is i have a local tech who has advised me i should get an Aguilar OBP3, he has quoted me £210. The bass i have is not a drop in jazz plate option, as it has a side jack. i have come around to the fact that i don't like really transparent pre amp's. I've also come around to the fact that I'm talking sh*t and talked myself into an Aguilar.
2. In the UK Gospel, like the stuff you have heard in previous posts is hard to find. There is a church in Gloucester near to where i live that plays Gospel, but it is quite traditional. Thats not a bad thing. London and Birmingham have a great gospel scene. Incognito's finest Randy HOPE Taylor plays in a great gospel band in London. Unfortunately bands Like New Direction don't exist in the UK. Thats the great heritage of black music in the US, it created music like that.
3. A fantastic disco record with a fantastic bassline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5rMfLJKwIE
4. Dale Black is a master imo. and one of the best Gospel players alive. His groove starts at 7.20.
5. I've been into Gospel for a few years now. There are so many gospel bassists. huge amount. Dale Black is incredible, Gouche. Dale Black Maurice Fitzgerald, Reggie Young. I love a band called New Direction, they are just superb. They are so good, but i don't know the bassist. For general Gospel check out Fred Hammond, Hezekia Walker, New Direction are by far are the best urban gospel band that has ever past my ears. The album is called Send the Praise. You will never forget buying it. its just incredible. The bass playing is just… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA2lwHQXYKo
6.
Great thread. Many great out there.. almost anything Chic This one still gets me today Always banged out loud at our school disco's.
Im thinking it really doesn't get any better than that. Just fabulous. !
7. IMO the ultimate Disco records. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKl6EZShaaw

9. My bread and butter is this woman. Her voice is just magnificent , as is her music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XYGVtX0w1I
10.
gotta be Yoko for me. https://www.youtube....h?v=HdZ9weP5i68
That is mind boggling.
11. Subjective as always. There are many i love. Paul Carrack, Micheal Mcdonald, Stevie Wonder. they have voices with real character. instantly recognisable. I had never never been a fan of Bob Dylan but i have warmed to his style. Karen Carpenter is great. Bobby Kimball of TOTO is just fantastic. Of course there is Anita Baker. But Donny Hathaway for me, is way out there. His voice is just hugely powerful. he just controls every note so well. he could sing from the phone book and it would sound amazing.
12. I think Micheal's young voice is quite astonishing. i hear lots of young fantastic singers on youtube, but none of them touch him. I prefer his voice when he was younger to his voice when his stylised it later. Much more natural. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=270Fr-B4ad0
13. Its a favorite J5 record. The horns are great.
14. Its a genre that i adore, some of the best basslines ever recorded imo. . I just wish i was old enough back then to live in America and go to Studio 54 back in the day. A few not so well known crackin disco records. Known by lots I'm sure. This is just a fantastic Disco record from Quincy.
15. From his Keeping Time album. The fantastic (some say Incognito's finest) Julian Crampton on bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJFGIEXontw&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=1 imo his funky soul version of Gershwin's classic is a cracker. Incognito's Maysa Leak on vocal's. Great piano playing from Jason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W8AVWbqTwQ

17. Any ideas.? Or do i have to get direct from Audere.
18. Got an Aguilar OBP3 being fitted at the moment. Wasn't a fan of the very hifi Delano.
19. the saddest piece of music i have ever heard. if you have ever lost someone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5vnE3zD-DU
20. i think Mark is a great bloke. I went into his shop and he fitted a preamp into a jazz bass i had at the time. He has opinions on a certain brand of bass cab that he loves and also told me of his dislikes, of a certain brand i was playing through. I would prefer someone to have a bit of passion about what he thinks is great, even though i might not agree with him. Its not like he was on a mission to sell this certain brand, as he has lots of brands in stock, but it gave me the impression that he was a bass player who is passionate. He is bass through and through. Anyways, i think its the best shop in the country for Electric Bass. I went into The Bass Gallery and found it a bit snotty. The fact that he's a one man band makes a difference.
21.
She's lost me with all this theatre stuff. Sorry. I preferred her being a musician rather than a "performer".
Yeah me too, she's not Kate Bush. much prefer her with a bass and her voice.
22. His slap playing on Night Rhythms is great i think. really adds a bit of punch to a smooth jazz record. nice slap solo also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmsmtF9wMjc
23.
He is a nice player, good groove. Yes, he is great on the Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin gig. He can solo as well (particularly well on that damn 7 string)
WOW that was great.! thanks for posting.
24.
This is nuts in all the right ways. https://www.youtube....h?v=OL-aRjjyQpo
Thats erm, very cool. Check her out on a fretless Jazz Bass.
25. This guy is such a great bass player. If there was ever a bass player that i really dig, its this guy. His playing for me is just spot on. A great mix of slap and finger style. He never over plays, but when he does a fill, its really musical. I always had groove in my bass playing but guys like Melvin taught me some other nuances.. His playing with Lee Ritenour is very cool also.
