1. I've posted this in the @importing section but thought I'd capture more attention here. That's my V63 out of the window, then!
2. I thin this is 'sympathetic resonance'. The wood in the neck (most likely) is somehow cancelling that frequency out. Try nuding your truss rods either way.
3. Ishisbashi no longer selling s/h kit on U-Box internationally!! Would-be international purchasers need to use their ebay site http://myworld.ebay.com/ishibashimusic which is absolute pants as there are some goodies up there I wanted!
4. Points taken, above. It's just that the '73 was one of the 'never sell' brigade. I'd rather, along with the Jazz, sell a few Telecasters but everytime I look at them I just can't bring myslef to do it. And, in any case, I won't go near ebay for selling ever again due to the nut-jobs that surf that site. I haven't heard back from the guy about the other instrument that's coming on the market; when I do, it'll determine whether these two go live or not. Will keep you posted.
5.
That's a seriously nice 4001 Donny - don't do it!
Alan - I'm sh****g myself over this. I know I'd regret it.
6. I dunno what to post the '73 at, that's the thing! It's one of my several 'investment yet playable' guitars, ie vintage and non-pristine. I'm really nervous about floating this but I cannot see me wanting more than £2K for it; much more than that seems a bit unrealistic. Will see what they're going for on Gbase. That said, I know they'll be stupid prices.
7. I can't believe this hasn't gone, esp with that stacker mod which is right up my strasse!! HAve a bump from a fellow Steinyphile!!
8.
Dont forum rules state that you should give a price ather than rely on PM's??
I don't know? Ok, if that's the case then I withdraw the PM request. Sorry, my ignorance.
9. Re the Rick - I'm not sure, yet. It's 100% original and has the rare-as-hens' screw poles on the rear pup and you will understand the difference adjustable poles make on a Ricky, given the string imbalances we all hear about or have experienced. Nice, straight, correctly adjusted neck, too; no issues. Strung with .040-.095s. I'd rarther put this to PM offers than state a price. A respectable ebayer in Avon has one up there on da 'bay for £2250 as a start but I'm not sure that I could state that as a start, with all due respect. The bound Jazz - I'm looking for offers around the £600 mark. including UK freight. Insurance will be optional and additional to that if required.
10. Lord Jeeeezuz......... What happened to the mutes, bassvid?
11. This is a serious feeler for the above two basses. Again, something's come on the market and I may not get a pop at it again, so... 1973 Rick 4001 FG Wavy Grover keys Non-full-width inlays Cheq binding Toaster front pup Rear pup has adjustable pole-pieces Original black RIC case Bit of buckle-rash and a few scratches, given its age Minimal tail-lift Fender Japan non-export '60s Jazz Factory black with matching headstock and gold 'Fender' only logo. Bound neck Non-original Black hardware, apart from jack socket nut Non-original mint green plate Non-original Hopshot Lollipop keys Japanese Hot Rod pickups No case I also have for sale:- Fender Squier Modified lined fretless Jazz with gold plate hardware and Wilkie bridge Danelectro Longhorn guitar, 3 pups, in burgundy Please email me if anyone's interested in those. TBH, I'd rather not sell the '73 and am nervous as f*** just thinking about listing it. That said, I'd rather sell kit here as I will never sell on ebay again due to being stung twice in a month by malicous bidders So, any Qs, fire away, but please understand the sale of the Jap Jazz and '73 are not yet set in stone; this is just a feeler. Having said that, I'm still hunting for a V63 and if anyone is parting with one, left me know. No fat necks, though. Basses, that is! One last point: if any of these go to sale, overseas buyers must arrange their own courier and insurance!
12.
Hurrmph cheerfully withdrawn, M'Lud! Sadly so near and yet so far - like some I am holding out for a later XL2 but this is still very very nice. BB
What, like this one, Bob??
13.
Yes, but no, not really. They were made up until 1998. The earlier ones are definitely better, though, IMHO. Good luck with the sale! LRH
Personally, I'd disagree. I had, albeit on LT loan, an L2 for a few months and then eventually got the XL2A and I have to say the latter is the superior instrument, both in looks and tonal variation. The Steinberger sound is still presnet on both, though.

15.
Reminds me of this one (any excuse to post this photo)!
ohhh.. those boots!!
16.
In all my years of playing, only one bass has made its way into my 'never sell' category and it's a Bravewood fretless. John Elliot makes some seriously good instruments...phenomenal... Bravewood = CS Masterbuilt +1 These are very serious instruments.. N
Agreed. I now regret selling my Bravewood stacker. Wish John would start doing comissions again!

18. Looking for UK luthier/repairs guy to strip a Jazz body and refin with primer/nitro. Any info/recomms greatly appreciated.
19. I think you've taken off the dust cap, is all. I'd give your speakers a good going over; you may be driving them too hard.
20.
Oh God! I bough a speakon-jack cable from OBBM and now is not going to work with the Terror Bass? Delberthot, do yo have a speakon-speakon to change? ^_^
Jest get another speakon end and do it yourself! They're usually wired +1 and -1. It could also be that the input on the cab is a dual receiver, i.e. it can accept the Neutrik Speakon or a 1/4" jack. HAve a look at it again befoe you panic.
21. I now have Clarky's Nash via Alan and a very smooth deal. Nice meeting you , mate!
22. Super duper, guys. And thanx to both of you for easy, honest transactions!
23.
I once tried to sell my XL2 on basschat for silly low money (1200 I think?) and did not get a single breadcrumb of interest. Not one enquiry. It did surprise me as they do have such a good rep. They are amazing basses and I kick myself for finally selling mine through gumtree. Dub paradise! They look unique but feel and sound great...killer necks, loads of sustain and a pure warm tone that isn't 'graphitey' in a sterile way. Those fiver XL2s are also very rare indeed... But in the end basschat is by far the best place to buy and sell good basses from good people. given time someone might pop up but pricing is always going to be difficult for Steinies.
Gumtree? Can I ask you how much you let it go for, without being nosey? Well, I AM, actually!
24.
Agree with the above! The more I look at gear on here, the more I realise that I don't like or need ebay. It is just too open to corruption and manipulation. Yes, there can be some great deals, but they are becoming increasingly rare. It seems far more common now that people end up paying over the odds for poor stuff...
And don't forget the lies and disinformation going around. Won't apologise for being so neg about ebay but it is actually getting worse, guys. Anyway, these original XL units are pretty rare and I'm sure that if the OP sticks it out and keeps this item high profile (Talkbass, maybe?) he'll get the sale he wants.
