2.

Christ on a bike! I didn't know John Merrick had two uglier sisters.
3. "Bass guitar project"
4. This usually happens when I've decided to sell a bass or guitar I've not played for ages. Then I make the mistake of getting it out of the case for one last play........................
5. How about a lovely bass: There now, isn't that better?
6. A baritone guitar would probably be a better choice than a bass for the sound you're after. Something like this for example: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog...c_Guitar__.html

8. It's just one of those things really. I've owned inexpensive basses that never needed any neck adjustment & expensive basses that required almost constant adjustment (my Jaydee for instance). Same goes for guitars in my experience too.
9. When I had a Jaydee & was playing a lot of slap I was using 30-90 superwounds. That's the gauge Mark King & Geddy Lee were using at the time & they are pretty twangy. I don't think you can get Superwounds anymore but Elites do a 30-90 set. LaBella do a Slappers set even lighter than that. You can get them on the internet from Stringbusters if you have trouble finding them - they'll probably be cheaper than anywhere else too.
10.
They were the Japanese arm of Jackson...........
I think Wayne Charvel would have something to say about that! Wayne Charvel was building guitars in the 70s, and Grover Jackson (who went on to make Jackson guitars) was one of his employees. Wayne Charvel sold his guitar building business to Jackson, who continued to produce guitars under the Charvel name for a while before changing to his own name. There were indeed excellent guitars made in Japan using the Charvel name under licence in the 80s, but to refer to Charvel as "the Japanese arm of Jackson" is like calling Fender the Japanese arm of Musicman.
11. What is your usual main method of communication with them? Just use whatever that is, be it phone call, text, email, pigeon or whatever.
12. DRs quality control is bloody awful. I stopped using (on bass & guitar) them because I got fed up with having to return defective strings. The one shop in Cardiff that used to stock them stopped selling them for the same reason.
13. That is just so cool.
14. If I live into my 70s then I would assume I would have sold all my gear by then. If I go suddenly my partner will probably just swap my gear for some cushions or something..................
15. I don't see the point - you can still only physically tune 1 string at a time, unless you're an octopus.
16.
Not one of my favourite numbers but Africa, by Toto. Heard one band cover it and they were all very good players and tried to do a faithfull rendition. Sugary pop rock or not, very hard to reproduce properly if that's your intention.
I love Toto but I've never seen them do a decent live version of "Africa". If they can't do it justice what chance has anybody else got?
17. The T-Baggers. Chart m*nge Explosion.
18. You'd probably be better off putting this in the "Bassists wanted/available" section. (One of the mods will probably move it for you).
19. What amp was it being played through?
20.
The dude that runs Electric Ladyland in Bristol seems to be totally uninterested in getting your money. Don't think he fibs, but he might just not want to sell you stuff when he could be telling you the stuff you want is overrated rubbish and he has 50 of them out back instead.
Is that Ray Baker you're talking about? Is he still running that shop in Bristol? Haven't been in there for nearly 20 years. He was indeed a very good guy & they used to have a great selection of stuff
21.
I can't think of any retailer - guitar or otherwise - where one is guaranteed of satisfaction. But in the field of vintage guitars / basses, the phrase 'Caveat Emptor' is highly applicable.
+10000 You REALLY need to know your stuff if you plan to buy a vintage instrument, especially if you're looking at Fenders & Gibsons - it's an absolute minefield & as there are large sums of money involved there are some real crooks out there. Add to that the increasing emergence of very good fakes that fool many of the so-called "experts" & it's something I personally would never bother with even if I had the money.
22. Lemmy - "Stay Clean" from Motorheads "Overkill" album. Chris Squire - "The Fish" from the "Yessongs" triple live album. Rickenbackers, plectrums, distortion & a teenage me blown away & addicted to bass playing for ever. I've long since discovered more "sophisticated" players but the two examples I've given above still do it for me.
23. I'm not a fan of Motown music but I think it's a fantastic film, essential viewing for anyone with a serious interest in music. I like it so much one of the kids got it on DVD for me for Christmas.
24.
Also, i would not get an electronic kit, because as other people have said, they are not very quiet, i would instead get a drumkit with mesh heads on them, ive never done that, but ive head its a good silent practice method.
Same problem as an electronic kit - still lots of noise.
25.
Howdy! I was thinking on and off to myself wether it's time to learn another instrument. The drawback is that I live in a 1st flr maisonnette. I like the look of those electronic drums( rubber?) ,but I'm not sure if that'll work.
Electronic drums still make a lot of noise when you thump them, it's the bass drum pedal that's the main problem. My step daughter has a Yamaha electronic kit & you can still hear her hitting it on the ground floor when she's in the loft.
