  1. But surely, that IS the point! 😁
  2. Pearl 'plate definitely.
  3. I remember sitting in a long departed music shop a number of years ago with the mission of buying myself the best sounding bass I could find in the shop. A good number of hours later, having played all but the insanely expensive basses in there (£1,500+ circa 2004-ish), I walked out with a very affordable, Fender Mex Jazz, that was fitted with US made pickups. It sounded superb, and certainly trounced the US made basses in the shop to my ears.
  4. Highly surprised no one has mentioned this yet but... Hawkwind: Space Ritual Rush: All The World's A Stage, Exit Stage Left, R40, Clockwork Angels, etc., etc. Thin Lizzy: Live and Dangerous
  5. Shouldn't that be "Plectra Deflectra"? Tort? Choccy Tort...
  6. The "W" on the back would suggest Wilkinson's. Pattern Gotoh's. https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/1-x-wjb650-bass-tuner-for-right-handed-bass/
  7. Yup, I use the Etymotic ER20S for rehearsals. Sennheiser UK have a sale on: £35: https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/headphones-stereo-hd-206 £45: https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/headphones-headset-stereo-over-ear-hd-300
  8. I do fancy acquiring an 8 string at some point...
  9. Agree with Maude & Mykesbass, however, a new bass can't hurt can it? 😉😀👍
  10. It is dangerous, thinking that you're happy with your gear, getting comfortable with everything, everything works, no issues. All good you think, save a few quid you think... Bam. GAS strikes.
  11. Not for anytime soon... The singer quit.
  12. Saw that, and again, definitely one to consider. Humbuckers again though.
  13. The Chowny's are very tempting, the only thing putting me off them is that the pickups are humbuckers, where I much prefer single coils. The downside of a Semi is changing the pickups, as all the pots need to come out via the treble soundhole, which frankly sounds like a right PITA. Not sure if they have a push/pull for single coil either. Plus I'd need to find some single coil pickups that'd fill the holes.
  14. Where's the fun in that, when you can just buy another one that does the same kind of thing, but without some of the features? Oh... hang on...
  15. Yes, I have a PolyTune, and it regularly either goes into 6 String Poly mode. It annoyed me so much, I bought a UniTune.
  16. Erm... A custom built, Walnut Rickenfaker (the one in the avatar). Still want a Semi though, the Warwick Star is the current favourite.
  17. What year is it from? Found this 1986 Catalogue on Ibanez.com (https://www.ibanez.com/eu/support/catalogs/)
  18. Of all of them, I'd be inclined to say go with the Ashdown. Also have a look on the Muzik Produktiv site, they have their own version of Thomann's Ashdown "Toneman" range (the "AMP range"). I have one of the Ashdown Muzik Produktiv combo's, and it's great. Based on an ABM Evo III, but in Rootmaster cabinet. Laney and Hartke are good too.
  19. So how does it sound @fretmeister?
  20. The standard non ABS Thomann case is a good fit too, and usually a few quid cheaper than the ABS one too. That Gator "soft" case looks pretty good too.
  21. I did notice there were a few missing, but hey, it's still a great resource. The Bolt Thrower & Electro Hippies Peel Sessions were good too. Had a load of them on Vinyl.
  22. That's some resource... and a trip down memory lane, I remember listening to a load of them. JP RIP.
