1. Boutique vs Mass Produced? The big price difference on most Boutique gear is the labour cost. These things are made in countries which generally have high labour costs, by very skilled workers over a lot of man-hours using quality, and sometimes very specific or "unique" components. Costs add up to make a higher unit cost. Compare this to a mass produced item, designed by a highly skilled engineer, but then the manufacture is "outsourced" to a country where the labour costs are far lower. Add in mass produced, standardised components, all of which lead to a lower unit cost. It'll be that there economics again.
2. It reminds me of the "Jehovah" scene in "Life of Brian".
3. Can't really justify one though, seeing as I have an L2000 Tribute sat in a case at home.
4. Must admit, that after reading the first few pages, I went off looking at various P & P/J basses...
5. I thought I was a Fender fan, until I owned a Ric for a few years, then had to sell it and get something else. I bought a Fender Jazz. After having it for about a year, I still couldn't get on with it, playing it less & less. Bought myself a RickenFaker, sold the Jazz and now I'm a happy bunny again. In retrospect, I should have bought a Precision to replace the Ric, but there weren't very many P/J's around that caught my fancy (yes, I like twin pickup basses). I do have a G&L L2000 Tribute, with a P style neck that is nice to play, but doesn't have the "vibe" of my 'Faker's.
6. Makes me wish I'd never sold mine...
7. Forty-something Bassist / Rhythm Guitarist wanting to get something rock-y/punk-y going, in order to try and recapture a miss-spent youth, and generally have a laugh whilst making an infernal racket the family would definitely not approve of, with others who are old enough to know better, but still young enough to just do it anyway. Would prefer to do original material and some covers, though no Blues. Not looking for fame & fortune, record deals etc. nothing too serious, just a bit of fun, maybe a few gigs along the way.
8. Of the three I own, two are exactly the same, and the other one's for sale.
9. Maybe, you could treat yourself to a good few hours in your local musical instrument retail emporium(s), trying out various basses of all shapes & sizes. Find out which one's fit you, which one's don't, which one's you wouldn't have considered in a million years but is actually rather nice to play and sounds great etc, etc.
10. Sounds like you might need to take plenty of strings with you. It's not like you can just nip out to the local music shop like you would on a tour.
11. Also something to consider, is how you sit at a computer, especially if you're sat in front of one all day (as a lot of people tend to be these days). I found myself getting pain in my left shoulder a lot (guitar strap shoulder), but then realised I was leaning on my left elbow a lot at work (especially when using the mouse). When I realised this, I adjusted my seating position and made the effort not to lean on my left elbow (way harder than you'd think! Especially on a curved work desk found in most offices). It does contribute. Wide straps help, wide and padded straps help a lot.
12. Try again with a bump.
13. Beautiful looking bass.
14. Nice... but out of my reach. GLWTS.
15. The one who's the better singer, and has more stage experience/presence.
16. A G&L L2000 Tribute?
17.
So is pen and paper.
A pen is definitely a hand held device, though paper is more of a desktop, unless of course, it's a notepad.
18. But a guitar or a bass IS a "hand held device".
19. And bump the price up a fair bit too.

Phaser

It all depends on what you want to use it for and how wide a sweep you want from it. If you want a "small" focussed sweep from it, then something like a Phase90 would be ideal. If you want a wider, more "psychedelic" style sweep, then you really cannot go far wrong with an EHX Small Stone (preferably in the pressed steel box). Yes, I have a steel box Small Stone.
21. It does kind of beg the question as to why the USB port was included if you can't edit patches on the computer or use it for recording onto a PC.
22. Bump-o-la
23. Yup, spent a bit of time copying the settings from the B3 to the MS60. The B3 on one knee, the MS60 on the other, scrolling through menu's and buttons. One way to get to know it I guess!
24. Just acquired a Zoom MS60B off Rushbo (cheers! ), not really played about with it too much, apart from plugging it in to my PC and thinking that it would connect and work with the Zoom Edit & Share software that I have for my B3. So much for USB connectivity. Does anyone know if there is any software available to edit the patches? Does anyone know if B3 patches can be uploaded onto the MS60B? Does anyone know if there are any firmware updates from v1.00? Thanks!
25. But if you buy yourself a decent modelling DI box (which is highly more likely, being more aware of the various DI products available specifically for bass players), the PA/FoH guys would be relatively happy going through them then.
