1. I could get one of those... Flog the pickups... Get some Mike Lull replacements...
2.
http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1010023
Well that will teach me to make such rash statements! Feel a bit stupid now. It seems Liberace is always lurking somewhere, even in death.
3.
thinking I like this, Bump.
Thanks, have another bump on me.
4. Someone buy this bass.
5. I played through an EBS rig with a Fafner head when I did a few gigs in Germany. It remains the best sounding amp I have ever played through.
6. Definitely humbuckers. And you only need one for that Wishbone Ash sound!
7.
But hey, I've trashed this thread enough as it is...so I'll bow but no one will ever convince me that both were not terrible players..or would have been in other units, IMO.
Utterly ridiculous statement.
8. I his technique allows him to play that way, to come up with those wonderful runs and fills (not to mention that incredible tone), I would say his technique is pretty much spot-on.
9. For all you weight-watchers out there - this bass weighs between 10.5lb and 11lb. Weight measurements courtesy of a set ot bathroom scales and a Nintendo Wii.
10. Will get the weight asap. Bump for now.
11.
I always thought I didn't need five strings until I bought a Spector Euro 5LX.....
I used to have one... Best 5 string I've ever played.
12. I thought Percy Jones was black.
13. Repeats to self... I DO NOT need 5 strings... I DO NOT need 5 strings... I DO NOT need 5 strings...
14. I like a lot of the early Camel stuff, never a huge fan though - I think I might have been if they had stuck to beign solely instrumental. That said, this is one of the finest slicest of instrumental prog you'll ever hear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWXyVsuWx8A
15.
Very nice, what album was that then?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tight-Nerves-Suavity-Sons-Merrick/dp/B002BK0LHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335476476&sr=8-1 Maybe 'smash hit' was stretching the truth a little...
16.
That's a nice looking bass at a good price. The wood looks lovely under the sunburst finish. What does it weigh?
Ah... Not sure. But I'll try to find out. It's certainly not a back-breaker like some Fenders of this era.
17. I remember seeing this on Talkbass, can't believe you're selling it! If I had the monies I would be all over that, it's amazing.
18. I can't upload any more pics for some reason but can email them on if needed.
19. As the pictures will show, it's a sunburst finish with rosewood neck. It's not a pristine example by any means, having proved its worth over many gigs and tours (not to mention a smash hit album!*), but it's in far better condition than I thought and has nothing to affect playability or sound. There are a few minor chips to the body finish, some buckle rash but nothing extreme. There is a fair bit of knocks and dings around the edge of the headstock but again, it all adds character according to Fender these days. As for the neck, there are a few light marks to the varnish but again these aren't noticeable when it's being played - I'm very particular about necks and it never bothered me. There are some wear marks on the upper horn, I've taken a picture but it doesn't look as bad in the flesh. Also, at some point the scratchplate cracked by the jack socket - this was professionally repaired but can still be seen. The thumb rest is long gone sadly. I don't have the original case but will throw in a Thomann tweed-style hardcase. All this, yours for £850. * It was in HMV...
