1. Here's one I know I'll regret later on! My recently acquired Fernandes FAB180 - Alembic, Series I copy, early 80s. Fantastic condition for age, a couple of minor knocks to body edge. Neck pristine. Stunning build quality, through neck. Sounds remarkably like 'the real thing' - stereo output, active filter electronics. Incredibly versatile, endless tones in this thing! Comes with slightly tatty but functional OHSC and original external power supply. Rare as you like - I picked it up for £900 so that is what I'll let it go for - although in my opinion it is worth far more, it really is stunning. . Located in Dartford, collection preferred or can deliver around the M25. Can ship at buyer's cost. TRADES - Spectors, Spectors, Spectors! Euro or Rebop, 4 or 5 string. 2.
Don't worry about Cosmo, he'll get over it - probably by buying a Spector - I think he's pretty close!
I'm so close, but it's still out of reach... Spectors are an addiction. I've owned nine of the things.
3. Oh, and crank the horn on your cab.
4.
How is your Spector GAS getting on, by the way..?
You, sir, are an utter cad!
5. I nearly bought this bass from Mark but decided against as I didn't really like the colour. Your pics are making me regret that decision.
6. If it had a P width neck it would be perfect for me...
7. I'm in the throes of full-on Spector obsession at the moment (again), and posting pictures like that is really not helping.
8. Macassar!
9. Well that's just incredible.
10. Another 'if only it was closer'...
11. It's quite telling on the DVD that when JPJ plays the Fender Precision the bass really jumps out of the mix.
12. Back up for sale again...
13. Back up for sale again...
14. I played there a few years back - no problems whatsoever. There's a charming little room off to the side featuring gyrating 'lovelies' around a pole so be careful where you wander. ..
15.
That's it. I didn't have a try on this model, but from what I can hear, it sounds pretty darn close to old Greco replicas, from late '70s and late '80s, which don't require so many bucks.
From this video, it sounds just like my old Greco.
16.
The PUs are so different , much hotter on the Gibson, and my 91 has a much thinner neck then the new Gibsons or the Epis. Blue
The Epiphone Classic IV uses Gibson pickups I believe. Same as the U.S. Thundrbirds. The bolt-on Epis have different pickups though.
17.
To argue about taste is senseless. Some people like to listen to modern music and others still like to listen to Deep Purple, Mud and Status Quo. That's okay by me. http://www.notreble....h-bill-dickens/
Bit below the belt, lumping Purple and Quo in with Mud... ;-)
18. Congrats on two stunning basses! Particularly the fiver, I've never seen one of those outside of a magazine! I'm a massive Spector fan, I've owned about ten over the years but sadly have none at the moment. This thread is not helping my addiction one bit. And while I'm here I'll give a little shout of approval for the Rebop line as they seem to be getting a bit of a hard time on here!
19.
If you wont go for my Ibanez' how about this instead (plus a bit of dosh)? http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 or a GUS G1 Guitar plus £1500
Blimey, that Fly is gorgeous! Not in a position to spend more at the moment though sadly.
20.
I don't see them making a come back in full, as I'm sure the filings for bankruptcy will have a catch or two. Also at 2.5k upwards still a very niche item, you can spend the same and choose a 5 piece body wood with loads of carves and bells and whistles. You could part up a similar bass for a lot less than the price they are asking.
That was never an issue before. And no amount of carves, bells and whistles will give you a Modulus, if that is what you desire.
