Has it got the output trim pot? I know Damonjames was looking for one.
I adore the exhilaration, and the controversy bothers me not! It's just too hot so I've replaced it with a new trim pot one. The sound it makes, I cannot fault.
2. I happen to have a thunderous, brash, epic, controversial and totally exhilarating Tone Pump for sale as we speak...
3. I've never seen a CV Precision with block inlays before. Bravo!
4. I know looks aren't everything, but... But a Molan has said, the demand is clearly there.
5. Cor, lumme!
6.
Budgie - In the grip of the Tyrefitters hands
Yes, yes, yes! Far from their best song but I've always fancied opening a set with Forearm Smash.
7. Good lord!
8. That's a Zephyr isn't it? Luvverly bass.
9.
Not much in comparison to his Precisions is, I think, what is meant and is probably perfectly correct.
This.
10. I'm surprised the Stingray seems to be thought of as his iconic instrument, he didn't use it that much.
11. If that bass is in Crystal Palace, I am currently sitting a mere ten minutes away...
12.
That's just Facebook and YouTube in general, not just guitarists.
This is no time for sweeping generalisations! C.V. (33)
13.
Sorry, that is incorrect. John used his 61 Precision on the first Asia album, through 3 x Marshall super bass heads and cabs, using his Pete Cornish pedalboard. Also, it sounds nothing like a Rick - just listen to the verses of Here Comes The Feeling - unmistakenly a P-bass. John later used his 1968 deluxe Rickenbacker 4001 on every track on Alpha, save for 'The Heat Goes On' which was the Precision. I know John personally so I can coroberate this.
I've just listened to 'Here Comes the Feeling' - doesn't sound much like a P bass to me, but if the man himself says so by all means get him to confirm! I was only going by what he said himself anyway. I'm not a fan of Asia but have always admired his tone on their first album, and it certainly sounds nothing like his P Bass on the KC recordings.
14.
Best PRECISION ever, I had one of these, utter joy to play, very well built, great sound. Then I sold it. Because I'm an idiot.
Agreed! I sold mine too, like a nitwit. The neck had a proper bit of striping in the maple too. Nitwit.
15.
I was of the impression that they were bista basses and people were applying their own logos ?
Ahh, Bista...
16.
Would love a go on this but just too far away
A remorseful ditto.
17.
Dunno Hugh, I really fell for it but I can't deal with rosewood fretboards, the SR500 is similar but no colour choice with maple. Not sure which way to jump.
Could you not buy another and have someone in the know give the electronics a once over - maybe upgrade the pots while they're at it? It shouldn't cost too much, and it's such a shame to have to abandon an instrument you seemed to click with so well.
18.
Ok. Look at it this way. . . . . Imagine you have £200 to buy a bass. Not necessarily to look at or look good playing it just a tool for making great music. You want it well made, bit of character, nice feel to it, easy to play and to get on with - simple controls etc, enough punch and tone to make a LOT of basses run for cover - what could you get? Mmmm! Ask Truckstop, he'll agree with me - what you would get is an Ibanez Blazer! But. . . . . . you have one, so no need to go looking! Why not bond with it again - you know it makes sense! Cheers.
This man speaks the truth. I'm keeping it.
19. 'tis gorgeousness and gorgeousity made graphite!
20. It's certainly a stunning looking instrument, but I'm amazed (and a little disturbed) that a custom builder can charge so much and take such a long time to create something that blatantly wasn't what you requested.
21. Reluctant bump...
