  1. I did check that they weren't 'Stone Cutters'...
  2. I've just bought two items from Gumtree both from different sellers, paid for both via bank transfer, let's see if either actually arrive!! 😂 Livin' on the edge me!
  3. I'm left handed and I started playing bass way back when left handed, then about 3 months in I made the choice to go right handed as there were far far FAR more righties out there than lefties. Definitely glad I made that decision!!
  4. All buttons are set to make the small explosive device I implanted in your head to explode... one day, not long from now, I will press one of them.
  5. At the end of the day, if their lead time is 3 years, it's FAR better that they are upfront and honest with their customers rather than certain other companies that claim a 6 month lead time and take three times as long. If you know the score when you sign up then you can't fault the company for being honest.
  6. Obviously I meant the wash basket... 🙄
  7. I did look at the Alesis Crimson II myself. It got some good reviews, however the reviews on the Millenium MPS-850 were very convincing. I've now played it for a few hours and I must say that it feels far better, and sounds far better than you'd expect to get at this price point. I did also read that the Alesis stuff is made in the same place as the Fame and Millenium kits, so that would suggest a lot of parts crossover but probably with better chassis for the pads.
  8. Clearly the solution to this problem is to have another kid thus allowing you one more bass!
  9. 3 years is too long for me for any build, but some people do choose to wait! ACG made my last bass - it was half the price of a Wal and was built in 9 months start to finish all by Alan himself. While 'the Wal tone' is unique, my ACG is nothing short of spectacular and has a lot of excessive options too (buckeye top, camphor back, highest spec pups/pre, set neck etc) If you HAVE to have a Wal, then you pay up and you wait, whereas if you want an exceptional instrument for far less money and far less of a wait then there are certain other very very good options to consider.
  10. Nice! It's missing some lego though...
  11. Well, I didn't think I could squeeze any more in, but it happened... Massive upgrade to the drum kit. Had to rearrange the whole room, but everything is in and there's enough room to move and use everything in the room comfortably! Tessellation mastery! Long live the Tiny Studio! 😁
  12. The £12 is the courier's customs and excise handling fee as they have to fill in a bunch of forms and submit it to our lovely Government. So in effect yes, buying from Thomann now will be around £11/£12 dearer per total purchase in excess of £135. From what they told me this morning anyway!!
  13. @TheLowDown - I spoke to Thomann this morning actually, they said that they're currently using UPS for UK deliveries over £135. Their current experience is that UPS are delivering items prior to customs taxes being paid. A week or so after delivery you'll get an invoice from UPS to pay the 20% customs taxes plus a £12 handling fee. Thomann also said that deliveries are currently averaging at 3 - 6 days.
  14. Right, I've done the sensible thing (a hard thing to do!) I've picked up (local and socially distanced) a 1yr old pre-owned Millenium MPS-850 with a Mapex stool, and a few little extras for £275 all in. I think at that price I can really give it a good go, and if I want to go for something Roland etc in a few months I can always shift this on an break even fairly easily.
  15. What's your thoughts on the below set up? And what do you think a 'good price' for it would be? It might be an option... Everything in the picture is included in the potential package deal.
  16. Any recommendations?
  17. I'll give up once I've completed PornHub. 😂
  18. Hi all, So I very recently acquired this from @Hellzero and it is an astonishing bass! However... I've decided that I want to get myself a good quality electric drum kit (blasphemy I know!) so the last bass in will be the first bass out! This is one of the finest basses I have played in a long time and I have owned and played some of the very best basses money can buy over the years! The tone this puts out is incredible, you can get beautifully crisp, glassy tones for tapping all the way through to deep, smooth bass with everything in between available. This bass is in flawless condition, not a mark.or a scratch on it. The build quality is outstanding, you can see that each end of each fret has been carefullt rounded so when playing up and down the neck the feel is perfectly smooth. The pickups are USA Bartolinis and pre-amp is an active Aguilar OBP-3 pre-amp, this is in my opinion the very best combination of pickups and pre-amp. The top wood is a 1 inch thick slab of beautifully quilted maple with an ash body separated by a purpleheart laminate. The through neck is 5 piece with 2 purpleheart laminates and a super smooth satin finish. The machine heads are Gotoh super lights and the bridge is Hipshot. Its a 34" scale bass with 18mm spacing and it come in at a little over 5kg. The bass was a little over £2500 when new and as mentioned it is in flawless condition. You really wouldn't know its not brand new! Who ever buys this will not regret it. I can post this if absolutely necessary, I would advise we agree to buy a hardcase to ship it in as I do not have one, it will come with a padded gig bag if collected though! I would much prefer it to be collected from me in Basildon, Essex (socially distanced of course). I reserve the right to cancel a sale if we cannot agree on a way to safely post it if you choose postage as I do not want this damaged in transit! I'm very happy to discuss a plan before you commit! These basses do not come up for sale often, I cannot see another pre-owned one for sale anywhere globally and brand new they are close to £2500. Any questions, please do ask, I will respond as soon as possible.
  19. I've read that they are quieter when being used. So if I play at low volume, or with headphones, there's less unwanted noise than that of a chain drive pedal.
  20. I already have a great pair of studio headphones (AKG K702), but would like a monitor as I prefer to hear the sound it an open room and not via headphones (though I will use the headphones from time to time for sure!) I only have a small room to shoe horn this into so the playback won't be super loud, I'd thought that this 120w monitor would be able to produce a decent sound and a low-ish volume without bass clipping. Do you think it would suffice for a small room as an alternative to headphones when I don't want to wear them?
  21. So a Millenium MPS850 kit with a Millenium PD223 Direct Drive double kick pedal and a 'The Box' MA 120w monitor comes to £612 (£734 with UK import taxes) from Thomann. Whereas a Fame DD-ONE-XT with a Fame DFP9001D Direct Drive double kick pedal and a Fame MS-600PM 60w monitor comes to £833 from DV247. Both the kits and the pedals are literally the exact same, made in the same factory etc, so they are equal, and the Thomann monitor is 120w vs the DV237 monitor at 60w, plus Thomann comes in at £99 cheaper than DV247. Any thoughts as to the Thomann gear? Quite close to pulling the trigger... It's £166 cheaper than that Roland TD8 kit I was tempted by, and it's all brand new. Is this a good set up?
  22. Seems Fame and Millenium are definitely made in the same place... looking at the direct drive double pedal as offered by Fame and Millenium and apart from the branded footplates the casting marks are exactly the same on. The Millenium one on Thomann is £85 (£102 factoring in VAT to the UK). The Fame one is £127 inc UK VAT. Seems Millenium are about 15% cheaper than Fame.
  23. Is there much difference between the Fame DD ONE XT vs the Millenium MPS850? I've read that they are essentially the exact same except a slight change in module chassis, as in built in the same place with the same spec, just branded differently. Can anyone confirm that at all??
  24. Afternoon/Morning/Evening All! I recently acquired this amp but it is now surplus to requirements as I'm going in a different direction from what I had intended to use it for! These are great little home practice amps, the going rate is £89 new almost everywhere. This is pretty much new and unmarked, I still have the big Fender square label in a drawer you can have! It'll also come with a kettle lead so yljust plug in and your done! £50 collected from Essex or £60 posted within the UK. Any questions, just ask!
