  1. And therein lies the problem. How long does it take to get a visa, if necessary? Our USA P1 visas took 3 months.
  2. We have a gig booked for December 7th in Sicily. Should we be applying for visas?
  3. Ours is projected
  4. Don't I know it. I really struggled recording albums in the analogue days back in the 80s. We tried to record to a click but the drummist was all over the place. I take so many visual cues from my drummer that playing along to something he has already recorded is nigh on impossible. So many overdubs and so many timing errors that went all the way to vinyl. These days with digital, it's easier because we can put the drums in time before recording the bass.
  5. You can see our guitarist look quizzically at the keyboards at 4:06....a solo is completely missing LOL
  6. We were told it was over 1k - there's an upstairs too! - yes we closed the 4 day festival at that venue (the festival has several venues across the city)
  7. OK I'll join in - I chose this because this was the first time we'd played this song in over a year! We hadn't even rehearsed it - it was a spontaneous choice for a second encore at Wave Gothik Treffen in June in Leipzig - the biggest gig we played this year.......the keyboards temporarily failed during the middle8 - it makes me question if rehearsals are actually necessary.
  8. Agreed I tried to select just 10 but soon found myself with 20 and gave up - I'll just take my iPod classic and a supply of battery packs - that said there's loads of stuff I've only got on vinyl which i haven't yet got digital copies of.....decisions, decisions
  9. Nothing unusual about that. Our drummer can't play to a click - he doesn't even understand when we talk about the number of the beat: the 3 or the 4 etc - he doesn't count while drumming. After 40 odd years he still plays to a variable tempo, accelerating through rolls and getting to the 1 a fraction early. I've got used to him.
  10. I know what you're saying - only last night I was struggling to record a line which required me to go from the 7th fret on the A string to the 3rd on the E when perhaps the 8th on the B would've been easier - but I don't often find myself needing to avoid a stretch enough to fork out for a 5er. - i was up at the 7th on the A because of what went before - don't tell me I should've been at 2nd on the D
  11. I could probably get away with two 3 string basses to play my set. One strung EAD - the other ADG
  12. What do you get with a 5? 5 extra notes Several extra ounces A requirement for longer fingers I'm out
  13. I always sound crap and I can't play. When I see youtube videos of our gigs it's like it's somebody else playing - it definitely didn't sound like that when i was doing it.
  14. A sister to mine - this killed my GAS - imo the perfect bass GLWTS
  15. There's a whole forum for that: https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/94-live-photos-videos/
  16. You too eh? I have a STEREO pressing of Going Places that I can't find listed anywhere - it has a different catalogue number than the stereo UK pressing listed on discogs
  17. The cooling fan on my laptop protesting that it's after 7pm on Friday and it wants to go home.

    Hello

Bienvenido a basschat Dile adios a tu dinero
  19. They've got Ed Sheeran on now.....you have to get in early to get control of the roof speakers - getting in early isn't really my thing.
  20. Listening back to old LP records that had the mistakes left on makes me cringe. Knowing exactly where and what they are probably makes it a million times worse than it really is. <Cue some smartarse trying to reassure me by stating that they're not a million times worse but bleedin' obvious to any listener>
  21. Oi! Oi! Saveloy!
  22. The german girls are currently playing Wham! Club Tropicana loudly in the office!
  23. Are you sure @Teebs is a 'him' ?
  24. yes, ideally. I have a bass with 2 cavities where this isn't the case and it is silent too.
  25. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Incudo-Copper-Shielding-Sheet-Self-Adhesive/dp/B00A235WDA A fiver for enough to do a few cavities. All that's required then is a sharp scalpel or scissors to cut it with and some paper and scissors to make templates.
