Vocal effects

Perhaps there is a vocal website that I should be asking this... If so - advise me! I'm the bass player in our band and the solo backing vocalist.. I like to think I specialise in harmony and the previous incarnation of our band had a guitarist that could sing a bit to complement me. Our singer is very good!! My problem is - we're lacking in the backing vocals - I can't provide the whole range, I tend to be a high register vocalist and without another backing vocalist, the vocals are a bit 'thin'. The guitarist borrowed a TC Helicon voicelive and left it with me to play with! I hate artificial sounds and the voicelive seemed to be an accompaniment to a lead vocal.. very good, but awkward to put in backing vocals, plus sometimes the singer may alter what he does and the normal backing may have to change ... Is there a product which can double / harmonise a backing vocal that is simple to use? I am also the 'desk' manager so it has to be simple to use or I'm going to go into 'lock up' at gigs!!! Interested in your thoughts people!! C
5. If you would split.... How much for the 2X10? And what part of the country are you from? C
6. Well spotted Paul! Just took the front off and each speaker is 16 ohm on the VX - the ones on ebay are 8 ohms each. good old basschat........ C
7. Wondering if anyone can confirm this is ok. I have a Hartke VX210 cab with a blowing driver... Its £60.00 to replace. I've just seen 2 X10 Hartke speakers for sale out of a 4.5XL cab ( 4X10) Aluminium type... ( £50.00 pair) Can these be used in the VX cab?? At least I'll have 2 drivers with equal use ( they've had little use) rather than 1 good and 1 old speaker if I replace with a new VX speaker.... Any thoughts.... Its the fixings that concern me most. C
8. OK - thanks for that! Will have a play around with that tomorrow!! Strangely I think I've heard it before and its gone away.. Certainly worth a look anyway. Ta C
9. Hello people... I've got a buzz/fart coming from one of the drivers in the afore mentioned cab... Its fairly spasmodic and only seems to be at certain frequencies under load. Its not too obtrusive either - but I assume that particular speaker is blown or blowing... I've sourced a replecement from Thomann on the web ( about £60.00 ) and I'm not averse to paying that - its served me well, but are there any other outlets I could try? Nothing on eBay..... In anticipation... C
10. Stings autobiography was a good read. Don't particularly like the guy but it was very interesting. Lowly beginnings and gambling one career for another...
11.
I`ve only had one bass from the MIM Standard range. It was good, not as good as either my MIM Classics that I had, or my US Standards, but, there was nothing wrong with it at all. Build quality and finishing were good. Playablility and action were good. Ultimately, the sound wasn`t as deep as the US ones, hence me selling it. But if you can get hold of a used one that is of the same quality (and that seems to be the problem with these, the inconsistency across the range) for about £300, in my view they are definately worth it.
I got just the Y2000 £300.00 job off the bay! Immaculate condition, great finish, great looker ( midnight wine) perfectly set up for my style, Our guitarist loves the tone ( so much so he;s going to swap his USA P bass which he uses in his studio for one.) Its a great gigging bass and I'm not constantly worried that some tw@t is going to nick it or chuck a pint over it etc. Horses for courses??? C
12. If it doesn't go, hide it in the loft for a few years and consider it an investment!! you'll just have to not go out for 6 months while you're at Uni !!!!!!
13. I hope you're going to buck your ideas up for uni m'boy. Or it'll be 2/10 'must try harder'!!!!
14. Whats the mixer cover like?? Is it a padded zip -up arrangment? Approx dimensions. Regards C
15. In a marquee for a wealthy persons 40th bithday!!
16.
FFS how many times do people have to be told, "if you disagree with somebody's pricing, PM them!!" New Fenders seem to be going up every couple of months at the moment. Glad you've sold it Rich, well done for sticking to your guns. As for the Highway 1, some of them were the legendary "transitionals", ie if they ran out of something on the spec, they used something else (confirmed to me by Fender). I swear, if one more person disagrees with my pricing on my RARE (YES IT BLOODY WELL IS IN BRITAIN!!!) White '75 reissue Jazz, I am going to go a kick a kitten! Karl.
Why does this keep happening to this sellers threads?
17. I have a fretted version with the white plate and this is a good price for a great instrument. Good luck with the sale. C
18.
Who are you. Robert The Saviour
Robert the 'knows his Fenders'
19. I may be a bit off the pace here - but I've got a MIM standard Jazz in midnight wine, and it isn't that colour! Satin or roadworn or frenzied attack with sandpaper, mines darker by miles..... Or perhaps someone lied to me me when they sold it to me as midnight wine!!! C
20. I've got a Hartke VX210 and an Ashdown MAG115 linked to my HA350. I'm really impressed with this set-up. The amp is really loud, and the cabs dish out just the sound I'm after. There's good tonal variation with this amp and the 210/115 speaker config works well with it. I'm playing mainly rock/metal/blues and I'm being serious when I say I rarely have it above '4' on the power and 50% on the pre-amps. I sometimes go through the PA but to be honest its a beast and unless its a big venue, I don't bother. The band loves the sound, and I've had some good comments from some of the audiences... so - result. It gets my vote. I've rehearsed only tonight with a friends set up HA 350 through a Hartke 410 ( aluminium cone version..) and it sounded good, but to be honest, my set-up sounds much better. C
21. I've only ever bought off here and have had nothing but good experiences. I like to think I might have got the odd bargain too What spoils it for me is the odd seller ( usually the same ones ) who advertise a guitar at what initially looks like a grossly inflated price - only to reduce it a week later by £150.00 because they're now 'desperate' to sell!! There's nothing wrong with trying it on, and anyone with experience will leave well alone - but the young or inexperienced are likely to be ripped off on what is at face value a really good website with largely top people posting on it. C
22. Soz mate - I went and won the ebay one. Good luck with the sale. C
