1. I honestly think everyone's best bet is to give him a call, and speak to him in person.
2. I was at his yesterday. He seems very busy, but fine.
3.
do you use yours for the bigger gigs you do?
Sometimes, if I knew FOH and monitors were up to it. It was such an awkward lug, I sold it and stuck with the glorious WA head.
4.
He's relisted it at the same price and to be honest, if it wasn't for the Boogie 400+ and 1516EV sitting opposite me as I type, I'd be driving to Scotland now. I've not used the 15" version and as I understand it some guys don't rate it compared to the 12" whilst for others it's the opposite and the 15" is the dog's danglies. Bottom line is that at that price you can take the risk and sell it on after Xmas for at least what you paid now.
The main thing putting me off the 15 would be... The thought of carrying it. The 12 isn't particularly heavy, but it's bloody awkward. The 15 would probably bruise you the death :-)
5. Just bought something from Pete - posted in record time, brilliantly packed. Thanks so much!
6.
Oh Dear! I'd hope it was about the same price as a standard USA P.
At least with a standard USA P you'll know exactly what you've got...
7. Latterday Eagles bassman Timothy B. Schmit is recovering following treatment for neck & throat cancer. Great player, great singer and seemingly a very nice chap. Good luck to him.
8. You won't need the service guy - contact cleaner on a jack plug, shove it in and out of the send and return a few times... job done!
9. Wow... that's almost touchscreen!
Here's mine! Vigier Passion GK by chiscocks, on Flickr
10. Have a read through these... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/116361-how-low-is-a-good-low-action/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/57575-the-how-high-is-your-action-thread-get-involved/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176357-how-high-is-your-action/
11. Oh, the strap button has also been moved and it looks like you could store your amp in the neck pocket. Did you keep the receipt? :-)
12. I don't think the pickguard is original, either. That description is terrible.
13. It's. shame flats are synonymous with the word 'thud'. They do so much more.
14. It drives me nuts. It seems to be standard practice to murder the lows with bowel-rearranging subs. Whenever I work with a PA company who keep the bottom end clean, it's revelation.
15. I have no idea who he is. Then again, I've never heard that Gingham Style song either. I'm quite good at avoiding popular culture. It's good for my stress levels.
16. The EBS Microbass II is marvellous. it does everything the SansAmps do, and more.. without murdering your mids. They cost a few quid, though.
17.
the natural response of both the para-driver and the bass-driver is mid scooped, quiet a bit. To counter this on the bass-driver is to blend in the clean, but personally it's never the same as actually adding mids. The para-driver has a stand alone mid cut/boost and frequency select so it's easier to add mids in, plus it's more usuable for other instruments, inherently they are pretty much the same, but I would try a bass-driver before you count it out. I just prefer the para-driver but I ended up moving it on as it wasn't for me.
This. They both knack your mids to different degrees.
18. I would love to do this, but the thought of gigging outside of London scares me.
19. Lovely!
20.
This is not my thread, so please PM me for a response, as I have no intention of hijacking someone's sale thread of a very fine bass. In your PM, please give some introduction about your experience of vintage Fenders, as there's little mystery about these marks. Having said that, there are some oddities within Fender, particularly the pre-CBS era, where myth and legend do occur, and some acceptance that no-one will ever know, must prevail. Thanks, Rick.
My understanding of the ES mark is that there are a lot of theories about its purpose, but no proof. I'd be interested in your source as well, Rick. Have another bump, OP. Gorgeous bass.
21. FWIW, I've had nothing spam-flavoured sent to my Basschat-specific email address.
22. Does it have an FX bypass switch? If so, bypass it. If not, shove jacks in and out of the FX send and return. It's a known problem with Walkabouts that they can oxidise and short out the signal path. That sorts it.
23. Hey Moonbass! Did you install the JVX's in the end? What did you think?
24. If you 'get' the music it would be a blast. I'd do it.
25. I really like that. I'm about 100 miles too far north, otherwise... Good luck with it!
