Check your pickups aren't too high. And, as mentioned above, mids are where it's at. Make sure you have enough going on in the right place.

I certainly wouldn't stump up for it without going to see it first, but that's only sensible. Body looks fine to me, as does the rest of it. My spidey sense ain't tinglin'.

Based on what I can see in the photos (always the caveat) it looks right to me. Pickguard (hard to fake) is correct, bridge has elongated G screw, tuners are correct, logo correct... I'd make the trip if I was in the market for one.

Ta, Chris - never used a 400+ so I didn't try to guess.

I haven't used a 400+, so take this with a pinch of salt, but... the Walkabout has magic going on, and 'weight' that I haven't experienced with any lightweight amp (or any solid state / hybrid amp, for that matter). It's quite unique in Mesa's line-up - have a rummage around on TalkBass to see if there's any comparisons with the 400+.

it looks fab, but the lack of a removable head kills it for me. But then... if it's on a par with the 5110 (more reliable, even!) it'll be a hell of a combo for £300.

JPJ has never played bass on Since I've Been Loving You. Even the studio recording was bass pedals...

I'd recommend a cab with a tight / shelved bottom end. The STL is BIG down low.
