  1. Not being a fan of their design choices, I clicked the link expecting to see something hideous. I wasn’t disappointed.
  2. Mine’s OK for home use. Wouldn’t trust it for anything louder. The position of the power button is a PITA, and as a whole, it’s very mid-shy. i don’t seek sonic perfection for home use, though.
  3. I'm afraid I'd probably run a mile from this too.
  4. Oooh.. it's a near-sibling of mine, and just as light! GLWTS...
  5. However I should add: If the MPulse 600 does it for you, £450 is a hell of a lot of amp for not much money.
  6. Yeah.. I paid top-whack for me brand-new 600 back in the day (they just didn't exist on the used market), and while it was beautifully built and featured, and LOUD, when I realised it didn't have 'it', I had to sell it and lost a fortune. I always regretted that. Incidentally, the other amp along these lines that I did love was the Genz Benz GBE600 (which I assume Agedhorse had input into). That was just as nice, but for various reasons I had to let it go.
  7. Lovely amps, but tonally.. they don't have the WA's 'magic mids'. IMO.
  8. It’s been established that a substantial dollop of the WA’s magic - IMO its USP - comes from the power amp, which (from reading above) isn’t possible to recreate. Don’t get me wrong, Agedhorse doesn’t have to prove his credentials in this field - I’m also confident that it’s a fantastic amp that will sell like hot cakes.
  9. Hello Mr. Horse, and thank you for contributing. To be fair to the previous poster, you might want to have a quiet word with your marketing department who don’t exactly hold back on the WA comparison: You spoke, we listened. In direct response to player feedback and the longstanding demand for a more powerful version of our WalkAbout™ Bass Head, we’re proud to unveil the latest in the Subway® Bass Amp Line, the WD-800™ Head. This Head combines the warm, soulful sounding magic of the WalkAbout tube preamp section with the musical Class D Output Power used in our Subway Line (D-800™ and D-800+™), to create the ultimate lightweight hybrid.
  10. Also, I have several and I'm not a first-call LA session legend. Although I'm probably the second-call in my street.
  11. Frustratingly not...yet. I keep on at him about it 🙂
  12. Y’all should just buy the R-400. Honestly 😄
  13. We should start a list of bass-oriented business owners who should walk away from Social Media. I'll start with Phil Jones.
  14. Thank you. And yes, they do need to be played. It's got La Bella FL's on it at the moment. Here's another clip for anyone that's interested:
  15. OMG it may - or may not - be a great amp, but it looks utterly rotten.
  16. I'm just posting this to provide closure to anyone who may have misread the thread title:
  17. (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay.
  18. Cheers all! Here's a clip from my NYE gig. It LOVES flats, and really growls when you dig in.
  19. Cheers, all! A couple of gigs in, and it's a keeper 🙂
  20. Cheers all! I've just returned from a trip to see The Bass Doc, who ran his eye over it as a sanity check. As I expected / hoped, it's all good. ...both of these will happen 🙂
  21. Hey gang! I've finally joined the pre-CBS club. Never thought it would happen... Not original: refin, replaced jack, and a couple of wires. The rest is as-is. Weighs 9lbs-ish, it's resonant and has that midrange. Gigged it last night, and it's lovely.
  22. He says here that he records direct. That said, the post is 3 years old, so he might have changed his approach since then.
  23. I guess they were.
  24. Lovely! I suspect this one I tried recently was by the same builder...
