  1. Does anyone know if any of the various later SB1000 reissues (JT etc) have a wider ‘standard’ string spacing a la R60/80/150 or are they all narrow like the original SB1000?
  2. If it had been the R60 version I’d have had it like a shot! Glad it’s sold 👍
  3. Real Electronics in Sheffield do a lot of class D stuff so I'm pretty sure they could help.
  4. Is it a Roadstar 824BK but with the front pickup changed?
  5. Those basses look gorgeous 😍. Wow
  6. They do look interesting. I must say I don't think I've ever even seen one in the flesh.
  7. I agree. Try them out first. I’ve had several in various guises over the years. A 2010 that was sublime that I shouldn’t have got rid of, a couple of the 2012 onward CS pickup ones that were great, another that was not so good, plus a limelight that was probably the best of the bunch but just not right for me at that particular time.
  8. I think buying a different case would be cheaper than changing your car! In all seriousness, there aren’t too many car boots that you can fit a bass hard case in without putting the backseats down, unless it’s a shaped case. I have hard cases for all my basses but I always use gig bags when out and about as they’re far easier to handle.
  9. Further photographs added including those of the case, the new and old neck plates (from last year before I returned the broken plate to EB) and of a couple of tiny dings that I'd omitted in the original post.
  10. It’s the same whether sitting or standing unfortunately (strap or not) 🤔
  11. Another thumbs up for Andertons here. Usually very informative without being overly gushing.
  12. This could be a great option for anybody on a budget looking for a cab that could squeeze into a shallow car boot. Considerably shallower than a std TE 1053 cab and although weighty, it would be far easier to handle for load in/load out. GLWTS
  13. Ernie Ball Musicman Sterling 4HH - £850 posted mainland UK or £825 collected I bought this bass last year and fell in love with it. However up until buying this I’d always played wider 'P' necked basses whereas this has a more narrow, Jazz like width. Whether it’s an age thing or not I’m unsure but I’ve started to experience pains in my fretting hand after playing this bass for anything more than 15 minutes. I’m not getting those pains after playing any of my other wider necked basses so I’ve concluded that this neck and I are no longer compatible. • Year of manufacture 2009 • Country of manufacture USA • 4HH • Black • Ash Body • Maple Neck • Rosewood fingerboard • 3-band EQ • 5-way selector switch (see image below) • Weight 4.5kgs/9.9lbs • 2 scratch plates – the original white/black/white one currently fitted plus an aftermarket black/white/black one as shown in the majority of the photographs • Complete with original MM hard shell case I had the neck plate replaced last year as there was a hairline crack in the original. The new plate complete with new serial number was obtained through the correct Strings & Things/Ernie Ball channels. For those unaware in order to avoid any skulduggery in these situations, original broken plates have to be returned before Ernie Ball will update their database records with the newly issued serial number. The old plate was duly returned to EB once the below photograph of the two was taken last year. EDIT - Condition Update - I've been over this bass again with a very keen eye and have listed anything that I could see, however minor and have tried to photograph them as best I can: The scratch plates have a fair number of scratches on them There’s a very small dink on the back bottom edge of the body near to the jack socket There are a couple of marks on the headstock There are a couple of tiny indentations above the scratchplate on the top of the body The case has lots of surface scratches on it (no cracks or smashed corners etc) but is very clean inside The majority of these photographs were taken last year and show strap lock buttons fitted. The original buttons have now been refitted. It’s a lovely bass in great condition and the HH arrangement gives you some great tone options. £825 collected from South Yorkshire or £850 posted to mainland UK (UK buyers only thanks). Possible trades – Only interested in one of the items listed below thanks: MIJ Steve Harris Blue Sparkle Precision Aria Pro II SB-R150 Aria Pro II SB-R60 Status Chris Wolstenholme Sig (or possibly Series 2 Classic) headed, fretted, 4 strings, black hardware
  14. That’s been my experience too. Nickel for me.

  16. Great basses and this one is particularly gorgeous. GLWTS
  17. It’s a Super Twin (2 x 12) 😎
  18. This arrived yesterday. First impressions - very nice indeed. Solidly built, all knobs and switches feel quality and at bedroom levels it sounds fantastic. The simple EQ sounds great set flat (using several different basses) but easy tweaks are there to be had. It’ll be a good while before I’m going to be able to get out gigging with it to get a true feel, but I’ll certainly be looking forward to it when that day comes.
  19. I always avoided Jazz style necks as they never felt comfortable. Then last year I tried a MM Sterling 4HH and it felt great so bought it on the spot. Liked it so much in fact that I bought another 4H shortly after. Fast forward to this year and I only have to play it for a short time and I get cramping pains across the palm of my hand. My other basses have wider P width necks, from my Aria which is wide and chunky to the Status which is wide but a shallow D profile.
  20. In my experience I think some punters still wonder that now when that song is played!
  21. I agree. I had a 65 watt Laney Linebacker geetar combo back in the 90's. Very well built and sounded fine to my ears.
  22. I think the football analogy is a good one by taking it one stage further in that we're all footballers (musos), but some of us are in the Sunday morning leagues and some are in the Champions League
  23. ^ This is exactly how I would describe it. Nailed! 😁
