1. Hi all, I have a P lyte and the P pickup to my ears doesn't have a lot of grunt so I'm wondering if my spare SD SPB-1 would directly replace it? Does the fact that the Lyte is active matter? Thanks for any guidance.
2.
Wet Saturday bump, come on, somebody must think this is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do !! already bought one off you in black/grey can I justify another? hmm, lovin' the colour of this one..... Can't you sell something I don't like?
3. Hiya Meddle, every G&L I've had before these two had a low and level action from the nut to the last fret, it's the main reason for buying one for me, well apart from the versatility of it. There is still adjustment left on the saddles albeit not much on the E & G strings, my problem is that the action starts off perfect for the first 3 frets or so and gets progressively higher all the way to the end which suggests to me that the nut is cut low?? I mostly play between the 5th & 12th frets, I've had the neck set straight as a die but it rattles if I try to get any lower which, could be down to a high fret here and there, I just don't know so I'm going to contact them to see what they can do.
4. Discreet, I favour option 3 Yeah done the truss rod Romeo, I have quite a bit of experience setting up basses and guitars but as Yorkie says I shouldn't have to be putting super glue in the nut slots (not my idea btw) to get it right, tilting won't do much either as there is still adjustment on the saddles. I'll probably end up emailing them this time....
5. Well the Thomann special arrived today. I forgot to mention that I've already had one of these and sent it back with a crackly jack socket and a poor action that I couldn't get low enough, they were dearer then, about £320. This new one ended up at £288 delivered BUT, same action problem!! The bass looks perfect, just the action. the strings look deep in the nut and as a result the action won't go low enough at the dusty end. Before I dabbled with these I'd owned 4 Tributes and they were perfect out of the box. I've come to the conclusion that this is why they're cheap. Debating what to do next, any thoughts?
6. Could you please put pending in the title? I've just spent 10 mins trying to decide whether to buy it only to see I'm too late
7. I have an equally mint one, this is a great opportunity for a great bass. Easy on the back too. GLWTS
8. This is all very subjective stuff isn't it? I was a Cort dealer before I retired in 2009 and my experience was that their then basses were ok but we struggled to get the actions low enough to sell because a lot of the necks had proud frets on them, I'm sure all our Cort owners here have excellent basses though. HB basses are ok and for the money you can't really grumble can you? If you're a gear snob (like me ) you are never going to be happy. If you're not then you'll be happy with them. I love Precisions and G&L L-2000's but it's taken 5 years and countless buys off here to discover that. I have 7 P's now and 1 G&L on its way. I'm not greedy
9.
It's a cracking deal but I'm also quite annoyed as I have mine up for sale at the moment at £350 (paid 575 new 18 months) and have had to take it down. Looks like I'll be keeping it for a while. Amazing bass though!
I'm really sorry, hadn't noticed that, I wouldn't have posted this otherwise.
10. It's all very well saying you can buy a used USA for about £600 but, you are buying a used bass that you can't send back if there are problems and having had first hand experience of that I won't ever buy an expensive bass off here again. My take on 'mint' doesn't seem to match up with other peoples, also 'low action', when I'm told it has a nice low action I discount that description because I know it's going to rattle like a pig if I do more than blow on the strings. I now just buy new because I've generally been so disappointed buying used here. Yes there are exceptions and I've had a few good basses too.
11. I've already owned about 3 of them and sold them all, dumb thing to do. They are are probably one of the best all round basses I've ever had. I paid £495 for my other ones so this is a heck of a deal.
12. Just bought one from Thomann for £294 delivered!!!! Qthe blue burst one. Hell that's cheap, just a heads up.
13. I now own 2 MIM Precisions, one that I've just bought in CAR with a maple board and a white one with maple about 3 months ago, both new. I love the fit and finish on them too. Both have very low non rattling actions which is perfect for me. I don't need anything else now. I have owned USA Jazz & Precisions and while they tend to be heavier, the tuners are much better and of course the rolled edges which I miss. Apart from that I have 2 new MIM's for the price of 1 USA, I'm happy with that.
14. Is it still £450?
15. There's only one place to buy looms and that's our very own Kiogon on here. Absolute top quality stuff, all handmade and very quickly too.
16. Another lovely bass Karl, far too good for what I do. GLWTS.

Hiya all, I bought this gorgeous bass quite recently because it just looks.. well look at it, it's wonderful. Made in Japan by luthiers that cared about the end result. It is in mint condition and now sports a Kiogon loom, something I change as a matter of course these days. Other than that she is standard and plays beautifully. I hadn't noticed that it has a shiny varnished neck which I can't get used to as I seem to end up missing notes for some reason. Anyway it's up for grabs at less than I paid for it for a quick sale. It weighs around 9lbs, and it comes with a deeluxe Fender gigbag. Also has a new set of DiAddario strings too. You lucky people! Price includes postage to uk. 21. I was 15 in 1960 and loved the music, yeah there was a lot of cheesy stuff in there but the 60's bands were the pioneers of rock and pop and you had to be there to appreciate how revolutionary it was, I was brought up as a kid in the 50's with a diet of Mario Lanza, Michael Holliday and other such notables. When young people today listen to 60's stuff out of context it can sound a bit rough but look at todays technology and what we had then and it makes a bit more sense. Songs like spencer davis and gimme some good lovin' and pinball wizard sounded amazing after mario lanza. Just my thoughts.
