1. I don't get how basses like these can be so good? I mean you people are experts and I'm not, I'd love to own a bass that felt 'comfortable' and worn in. Maybe if I tried one I might be a convert, I dunno as I'm still searching for the holy grail and getting nowhere, a new P is as close as I've got. I've just ordered one of these as I've heard very good reports about them, who knows, we'll see. Oops forgot the link: http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=15010913084358 burp
2. Sorry, no interest in Ants Rich, but the bass looks very cool, have a bump sir.
3. Thanks guys, Steven James at Middlesbrough has one, I'll go and have a play.
4. ^^^^^^^^ Neepheid, thanks for that, I think, quite impressive what lightweight tuners can do, how much are they? Got a cure for falling forward? (the bass I mean, not me) then I'll buy one.
5. Thanks for your imp...err report Dave, I was considering a JCB but I won't buy one now. I've been told they are great sounding but the neck dive however slight would make my already weak arms worse and having to stop it tipping forward as well would be too much for me. It's a shame Epiphone couldn't strengthen the upper bout to take a strap pin. Oh well, Fender it stays then.
6. Made in England That just has a ring about it
7. no trades unless it's a stingray with a maple board & mint, obviously I'd add cash to that.
8. Thanks for the kind words guys, if anything the red is slightly lighter than the pics, stunning bass though.
9. As I have just bought a Stingray and have 2 of these I am selling this one. It is in 'as new' condition and is fitted with the chrome covers AND an SD-SPB-1 pickup, sounds fabulous, no chips or marks of any kind. The neck is quite slim being the new model and the weight is just 8.3 lbs! I paid £501 for it new and with the mods I reckon it's worth £400 all day long. The price includes next day delivery to UK mainland Pics: It will have standard straplocks on when sent. Thanks for looking.
10. Karl, for some reason the link in post three goes to my Photobucket?? I thought my MX5 looked familiar
11. I can't buy it for the same reason you're selling it Karl m' boy, maple boards rule! Good luck with the sale, shouldn't hang about.
12. Maple? rosewood? PICS please!
13. What he says^^ couldn't agree more.
14. Hmmmm.... Having owned a music shop until I retired in 2009 I must agree with Moosh &WayneP, if the stock is dusty, out of tune and neglected then you don't deserve to succeed imo. I had a young lad come in just after school 3 times a week asnd he tuned every guitar, bass, mandolin etc' in the shop, I know how to look after people as I'm one of the old brigade (ask Kiogon, he knows about service too) The only problems having a shop are the people that come in to try a guitar or bass and then buy it online! When they get it and there's a fault they then bring it to me and ask me to fix it because 'you're the dealer for these'. got very short shrift off me albeit very politely What to stock? that was the hard part because if I had 6 strats and 3 tele's I would have the wrong colours It's one of the reasons I retired, the net killed it, you can't have it all ways can you? Net prices or a service? you choose.
15. I bought two new p basses, both MIM's, I love them to bits but they aren't perfect sadly, I can't get the actions as low as I like without buzzing but they are ok.... The only perfect Fender I've ever owned was a USA sunset orange Jazz from 2004 and I stupidly sold it to a guy in Spain. Stupid stupid stupid.... Never found a good one since but I am stuck with mail order.
16. Arrived yesterday, Dave was excellent with his comms and kept me informed all the way. The bass is stunning in the flesh and after a quick setup to my liking it plays really well, lots of tones and heavy bottom end. I had to rack the amp volume back 3 notches to achieve the same volume that my P bass does. the controls work very well and can make a huge tonal difference unlike some I've owned. Overall I'm very happy with it to the point where I'll order another when he answers my email.
17. Just ordered the last one of these, looks amazing. http://www.probass.co.uk/Vantage_V4BSKY.html Can't wait....
18. CAR with a maple board is the best imo.
19. Happy new year young vic! Another fabulous bass, I'm under a lot of temptation at the moment.
20. I play my Eastwood 12 string semi through my Orange 100w bass amp and it sounds better than the marshall valve pre-amp guitar combo, don't get that at all.
21. What are the marks adjacent to the bridge near the G string ? Used to be mine before Mike....
22.
Her Who Makes Toast By Breathing On Bread has always maintained I attract the slightly less balanced. Present company excepted Tom
Dunno wot yer meen Karl
23.
I really do love the headstocks on G&Ls, I think it looks like a classic revisited. I don't like the one they used to have in the 80s, but the one with the sort of bottle opener thing I think looks really good. I think the problem is that just you can't really get to hear them anywhere - I don't remember ever seeing one in a shop, which makes it a bit of an unknown quantity. I really want a M2500, but just on what I think it would be like, I haven't seen one outside reviews.
I really love the look of this bass and have agonised over it but as woodinblack says you cannot try one. The neck is the unknown quantity here plus I prefer maple boards but the latter wouldn't put me off if it had a very low, rattle free action. Tricky this.
24. Thank you Herr Direktor I'll give him a shout.
