Saying that, its coming up to a year since i PM'd a certain prominent member in this thread and never got a reply ;-)
Well, I recall a series of PMs from several people about the Wizard 64s in my Squier CV Jazz about a year ago and I think I recall one of them being from you Dave. If I did fail to reply then I apologise. I realise how frustrating unanswered PMs can be. Mind you, I don't feel I fit the description 'prominent member'.
 2.
Don't shoot the messenger
I can assure you no shooting of the messenger is intended. I salute the messenger.
 3.
Shame the OP couldn't be arsed to reply to this thread given that we all helped him sort it here and via PM.......
I thought that too.
 4.
You gotta love that
Priceless.
 5.
It sounds like everything turned up rosey? ... thread
Ah, so we're hanging around here waiting for news when the news is elsewhere.

 7. Nice one, that's a good gig you've got there Clarky.
 8.
I used to break strings regularly at gigs. I always keep a used set of strings as a backup set. If I broke one live I had a set already stretched, cut to length and not too bright sounding. Could change it in seconds.
I keep old sets too, this is a good use for them.
 9. Boring I know but ... Fender Precision ('53 single-coil and contoured body style) Fender Precision ('59 split coil and rosewood style) Fender Jazz (early stack-knob style) Fender VI (in a surf type colour) ... just the four will do.
 10. Excellent. It looks just like a copy of my '62 reissue.
 11. It's certainly on the Tech 21 website with 'This is Version 2 which features a speaker sim defeat switch.'
 12. I've only broken a few strings in several decades but you're lucky to have five days to sort it out because when it happens at a gig you'll have less than five minutes to sort it. And when you break one at a gig you will have to put up with one string being brighter - which no one else will notice - because you won't have time to change the full set. The alternative to a spare set of strings is a spare bass.
 13.
Hello. Should have just bought second hand from here! Never mind, life goes on. the latest is that Paypal have given him 10....8 now....days to get the bass to me. On the 11th day the funds get automatically transferred back to my bank account. Thank Geddy for that! funny thing is that the guy is still texting me spouting me nonsense. Thanks for all the kind interest that has been shown here....lessons for everyone new to eBay shopping like me! Garry
So what was the outcome? Good news one way or another I hope.
 14.
On the 'Modern Electric Bass' video he says hat he never practised on a fretless because the strings would eat the neck up.
IIRC, he also said that on that video that he practised on a fretted Precision rather than a Jazz.
 15.
That really does look nice. You have excellent taste GW! Am I the only one thinking that these are a more fitting 60th anniversary P than the official Fender jobby?
No you're not alone.
 16. When I tried this I used the bottom four of a Thomastik Jazz Rounds set: 43-51-68-89-118. At 118 the B string will likely fit into the nut slot without filing - it certainly did for me.
 17.
Sorry, just seen the related earlier thread...RRP £490 for a Squire???? Sheeeyet! Still want one though...
That's not the price you'll pay - and they'll be in the For Sale section in a couple of months anyway. Three threads on these now!
 18.
I found this: http://www.jacop.net/faq.html Swing Bass it was. Wow, he plays clean! No grindy noises or buzzes. Explains a lot though, especially the ringing harmonics and being a fretless would reduce the noise ...
I'm guessing here but I doubt he was putting new strings on very regularly. What he's playing are 'used' rounds not 'new' rounds. I'd be happy to be corrected on this.
 19.
This clip is quite informative - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE5R3rUoU58 Stringbusters can get this brand, even if they don't display every single variation. Send an e-mail to customer support.
GHS Precision Flats are very nice. Lakland Joe Osborn Flats are the same string.
 20. Roundwound Roto Swing Bass I believe. Definitely not flats.
 21.
Just in case you were wondering, the wood of the Butterscotch blonde is not basswood but pine
The CV 50s Telecasters are also pine.
A canadian luthier speaks: I chose pine because it's one of the best tone woods in the world. It has the best resonance and the best vibration from the string. Pine is a very close relative to spruce and cedar, which have been used on acoustic musical instruments for thousands of years. This guitar became a point of controversy. It was a shock to people -- they assumed that pine was a junk wood since all the fancy guitars are made of flamed maple, quilted maple, spalted maple, and other exotic hardwoods, most of which do not reproduce the vibration of the string very well because they're hard and heavy. SOURCE
22. According to the Squier site the butterscotch blonde body is made of pine.
 23.
That butter P looks so nice. I think it may be ESSENTIAL
Seeing as you mentioned my name I thought I should add that I like it too.
 24.
That was the fault of the Chili's covers band mate! The SUB was a killer though C
I wonder where they are now.
