1. The logo could have worn off - but let's say that's not common.
 2. Answers to all your questions about Gibson basses (and the Mike Lull T-Bird) can be found at the Last Bass Outpost.
 3. I've done lots of gigs for charity events for nothing at all or for expenses. With a band that no longer exists, one we didn't do was at a local Conservative Club. They phoned and asked do you want to do a gig for charity? Our singer took the call and asked which charity. The charity was the Conservative Club. No, he said, we'll play for £250. Some of us, me included, weren't happy about playing the Conservative Club at all, even for money, but the gig had been booked so we reluctantly agreed to honour it for the aforesaid £250. A couple of weeks before the gig date, the singer phoned the Conservative Club to check the booking. He asked if all was still on and was told yes as long as they didn't manage to find another band in the meantime who would do it for nothing or at least cheaper. At that point they were told to stick it. We haven't heard from them since.
 4.
It's an EU distance selling regulation thing
Another advantage of the EU.
 5.
No . Stick to inferior players , you dont get it.
Timtoomany, the alternative to the advice quoted above is to ignore that advice and stick to what you like. And it isn't sacrilege not to like something. I don't like the solo stuff either.
 6. Excellent, I really liked it.
 7.
But there is also compliance/elasticity, which is different and can in theory be affected by other factors like string length including that beyond nut/bridge, and the break angle and friction at those points.
Yes, we've had this one many times before but here's the standard link: Lutherie Myth/Science: Human Perception of String Tension and Compliance in Stringed Musical Instruments
 8.
Just bought a new / used Hagstrom HB 4. The bottom, E, string seams a bit loose when in tune - the others are ok. Do I need a thinner or thicker gauge string to allow more tension ?
A thicker (or heavier gauge) string will have more tension as long as it's the same make/model of string as the one being replaced. If it's a different make/model of string then it will depend upon it's construction because string tension doesn't depend directly on gauge. Tension depends upon three things only: (1) frequency to which you tune it - that will remain the same with your replacement string; (2) scale length - which will also remain the same; (3) mass per unit length of the string - which will change if you use (A) a heavier gauge of the same make/model string or (B ) a different make/model of string with a different mass per unit length.
 9. I got one comment and twenty odd downloads from 203 views. Mind you I've not often commented on other people's stuff so I can't really complain.
 10.
To get things started, someone post a recording (if no one does I'll be forced to post one of my own, and you dont want that)!
(Yes we do.)
 11.
This is probably the only plausible reason I've read so far for deleting any part of a 'for sale' ad once the item has sold. Personally speaking, I've recently bought something that turned out to be something I didn't recall it being advertised as, but by the time I'd received it, all relevant material from the advert had been completely erased and I'm left wondering if I'm just blind and didn't see it, which might well be the case, but not knowing leaves me with a nagging doubt. Put 'SOLD' on the title and leave the rest of it well alone, I say.
+1 on all of that. A way around the advert being deleted before you've checked the goods is to save the page early on.
 12. Tom, I liked the chord work and the finger picking stuff - very melodic and nice tone so don't change those strings. However, slapping just never does it for me - sorry about that.
 13. 13 to 56, D'addario Chromes

Would I really have it even if I could afford it. Dunno Probably not...........but you never know.
Hey, I already posted that one.

 16. I sold Manos a Radial Bassbone. Very smooth deal, great communications and even Fedex did their job effectively. Highly recommended.

 18.
Tribute bands suck,btw.
So-called originals bands are quite capable of sucking too - usually 'cos they have poor material.
 19.
I just ate 48 Jaffa Cakes in one sitting.A new personal best. Now that was an original reply. Tribute bands suck, btw.
They could suck these:
 20. They look to be low tension like TI Flats: D'Addario Black Nylons G 36.6lbs D 36.5lbs A 35.8lbs E 32.3lbs TI Jazz Flats G 37.03lbs D 37.47lbs A 31.30lbs E 34.39lbs
 21.
I too would be interested due to the reasonable string gauges. I had Roto Tru Bass which sounded fabulously thumpy and DB-like but the D and G strings were so fat it inhibited me playing anything fast/tricky.
Hmmm ... fast and tricky? Dangerous ground. Perhaps you meant fast or tricky but not both at once?
 22.
Are you referring to repeat posts that cover or pay tribute to previously posted comments Also, you can only say what you said if nobody has ever posted a similar post against these types of posts This is an original response, at least I think so
Did you mean self-penned?
 23. Anyone tried the new D'Addario black nylons? I take it that they are new, I don't recall seeing them before.
 24.
Ok, I'll put up with the silk...D'Addario Chromes then? How do La Bellas and TI compare to those?
I haven't played any Chromes for ages but I'd say they are the highest tension, then La Bellas, then low tension TIs. Chromes are the brightest, TIs have more mids, and La Bellas least bright. I'd be happy to see those comparisons disputed. Like with any strings, there is no real substitute for trying them. It's an expensive business but with flats they do last for ages.
 25.
Most strings have silks on... You can always singe em off with a lighter?! Bright, high tension? Sounds like you want some Chromes.
Especially most flats. +1 on the D'Addario Chromes (with silks)
