Dreadlock Holiday - 10cc. best bass lines to their songs, ever.
uncle psychosis replied to daz's topic in Groove Library
Might give this one a go. Mind you, thanks to 2 Many DJs *this* is how I think it should go... -
EHX Octave Multiplexer. Does lower octave / subharmonic stuff. Sounds pretty cool but its not really my thing. Few little scuffs and velcro on the bottom but in full working order. No box. £35 delivered. I'll take paypal but bank transfer preferred. Photo here

I'm a big fan of "Vintage" (the brand, not the age implication!). I've owned a few of their instruments and all of them were/are superb instruments.

uncle psychosis replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It was a free listings weekend, so he might just be reserving the slots whilst they were still free... -

Not sure if this is the right place but I have a request for the mobile version of the site: When I open a thread on my mobile its really hard to navigate pages of a thread. I can go forwards one page or backwards one page. There's no way to jump to either the end or the start of the thread (that I can find). Is it possible to add this kind of functionality?
I can't hear notes by ear.
I'm genuinely not trying to be funny here...but how do you tell if you're playing the right notes at a gig or not? Its pretty much exactly the same thing.

I play a 5 string but I very rarely use the low B string. Consequently I'm thinking of going back to 4 strings---but my current bass is so nice that I'm kind of reluctant to get rid of it! One disadvantage that hasn't been mentioned yet is your right hand muting needs to be better. Muting the extra strings on a 4-string bass is much easier than it is on a 5 (for me, anyway).

Fender Japan '62 (reissue) custom telecaster with bareknuckle pickups and hiscox hardcase. Guitar is in very good condition and I am the original owner. I believe that the serial number dates this guitar to 2006. The guitar has been upgraded with Bareknuckle pickups and a 4-way switch to give both series/parallel wiring in the middle position. The neck pickup is a Yardbird and the bridge is a Piledriver. This combination was recommended to me by Tim from Bareknuckle as being very versatile---and it certainly is. It can do pretty much everything except death metal (and with the 4-way switch I reckon you could even give that a try!). This guitar really sounds great but I'm concentrating on bass now so its not getting the love it deserves---its time to move it on :-( Bareknuckle are some of the most highly regarded after market pickups in the world, read more about them here: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk The guitar also comes with a Hiscox hard case which is also in great condition. There are lots of photos of the guitar and the case here: http://s978.photobuc...tar/Telecaster/ Please note that there is a *small* ding on the back of the guitar near the jack socket (this is in the photographs). Its purely cosmetic, and it really is tiny as the photos show. When you're playing you can't see it anyway! I still have the original pickups. These will be included with the sale. Alternatively if you don't want the bareknuckle pickups I can put the originals back in and we can haggle a bit over the price. I am looking for £600 (or near offer). The only trades I am interested in are for bass guitars---particularly a Fender Aerodyne Jazz or Reggie Hamilton Jazz. I may consider other 4-string fretted basses too. I am based in North West Glasgow but I can travel a bit (within reason) to complete a sale. I am also regularly in Edinburgh and Fife (Dalgety Bay). I am prepared to post the guitar but would prefer to deal locally if possible. Please get in touch if you have any questions or interest.

I'm also interested in this - pretty sure a PJ is my ideal bass... but it does seem hard to find one I can afford!

eBay seller issue - what would you do?
uncle psychosis replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, in my opinion, you shoulda decided what you wanted to do, and emailed him asking him for the money, and kept asking for it, then open the dispute as you have. I personally wouldn't have then changed my mind and offered to go halfs, and then recinded on that offer. The fella may only check his emails once a week, got the email about the pickups, and sent the money straight away then found the others... I would be annoyed and offers being changed. Apart from that, go through ebay complaints was right thing to do.
I agree with this. I don't think you'll have done yourself any favours with the dispute by changing what you asked for either. The best way to deal with an issue like this is to do everything through eBay. Personally I would have sent him one polite request (via ebay messages) to cover your replacement tuners and after that it would have been straight to "item not as described" and let ebay handle it all. -
35" scale 5 string for around 400 quid?
Probably a little more than your budget but these are monster basses build and tone wise. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/162608-fs-yamaha-trb-1005-trans-dark-red/
I've got one of these. It's brilliant. Highly recommended. -

Tool, what's happened to them

They're one of these bands who I'm sure I'd like but have never really listened to...keep meaning to pick up some albums but they all seem quite expensive given how long they've been out for... -
SOLD (Pending Payment): Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass (non-export)

Can't help you amp-wise but bass-wise since you're happy with the Jazz and want passive I'd say....get a Fender Jazz G&L are also worth considering too. Jazz-wise the classic players series get a lot of love. If you go second hand there are also a lot of bargains out there at the minute. Its definitely a buyers market.
I was told that studying physics will earn you more or less minimum wage unless you do great things, (not saying you haven't or won't this is just another example!) and that if you actually want to study physics you're more or less giving up a fancy car and a fancy house.
I wasn't going to get involved in this discussion but I had to once I read this post---its completely and utterly wrong. Physics is one of the best degrees you can do in terms of getting a good, well-paid job at the end. People who are highly numerate and highly trained in problem solving are very attractive to the financial services industry (actuaries, risk analysts, investment bankers), the manufacturing industry (quality assurance, manufacturing engineering, r&d engineering). You can go into teaching, become a patent lawyer, write computer games or other software---even working as a post-doc at the bottom of the academic ladder you'll probably be earning upwards of £28k. Don't just believe me either, ask PriceWaterhouseCooper: http://www.rsc.org/images/EconomicBenefitsHigherEducationQualifications_tcm18-12647.pdf They did a study for the Royal Society of Chemists and found that the top five highest paying degrees (on average) are Medicine, Law, Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics. You'll find similar figures from other sources if you look for it.
