  1. Cato said: Pricing aside I'm slightly confused about the thinking behind this. Is there that much demand for a passive Ray? There must be, three different passive Rays this year. As for the huge bridge, no one complains about the massive Ric bridge.🤔 Other than that, I can definitely see myself playing this one. I
  2. Not a PJ fan, but does the typical Fender PJ problem exist with the Japanese J pickups? Other than that, they do have a traditional P bass, although I have to wonder about their name choice.
  3. I've heard plenty of people say the acoustic Kala U is surprisingly loud, it's not, but the plugged-in tone is pretty good. The solid-body models are nice little basses for kids who want to learn bass but still find something like the Ibanez Mikro too big. I'm not saying it goes against the original reasoning behind the U bass, but... I would d buy this one, though
  4. Haven't tried some high-end and rare basses because you just don't see them hanging up when shopping here or there. I'd try these, but I'm afraid I would never buy either one.
  5. Thanks, somehow I missed it.
  6. Show them if you have them. (I have 13 basses and will be selling quite a few, but these two aren't going anywhere.)

    Flatter.

What about a bass with an extreme fretboard radius, very flat or very curved? This company's been doing this for 15 years and there's a reason countless bassists say "Wow, never knew something like that even existed!" https://youtu.be/9jdVkNWnII0?si=lhbtMFwNhypRYcnt ROTATING FRET MECHANISM ON A FLAT FINGERBOARD . (YES, IT REALLY MUST BE FLAT, NO RADIUS).
  8. I wonder if whoever buys the 100th one sold will get a certificate...might happen this year! (Actually, pretty nice bass, even though Fender didn't put much thought into the color choices and the headstock.)
  9. They just posted on Talkbass a few days ago.

When this was first being developed, I suggested they go with sapphire crystal, like you can find on Movado watches. Now, I'm no longer in product development, but sweeping up and taking out the trash is still a job.

I'd pay good money to see someone do it in 2 minutes!
  12. Not all dreams come true, that's why I decided to keep it realistic.
  13. This is Flamingo Pinkburst from their Custom Shop configuration page. Only pink available, but the configurator is pretty good, much better than the Fender one.
  14. Once they were priced accordingly, but now, £1,500 and up...way up! Seriously, I'd rather buy a Fender, and I 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 buy Fenders.
  15. Maybe over there, but I doubt it. Over here, still plenty for sale, countless posts about them, and many, many people still calling them the perfect bass...although the same can be said for the Jazz bass. The Precision isn't my favorite bass, but... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/why-does-talkbass-love-the-p-bass-so-much.1654921/ I've owned quite a few P basses, but none ever compared to this. (There must be a reason Diviser builds 100 Jazz basses for every P bass they make.)
  16. Missed out on this one for a great price back when they were first discontinued. Now, the prices for mint ones are crazy!
  17. Exactly! That's why they have the Fender Mod shop, which allows you to mod your bass the way you want it! Correction, the way Fender 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 you to mod it.
  18. Yes, it's been seen before...first few seasons of Bewitched, the phone in Darrin's den. Regardless, other than the Coral Red with the black pickguard, they're not offering anything close to exciting and new. The Aquatone blue, not bad, but is it really any different than last year's MIJ Maui Blue? I've said it before, they should call this the Fender Humdrum series.
  19. Nothing better than the Jack Casady bass in its price range, and used ones do go for $500-$600. (Nothing better but this, that is. Not the easiest bass to find, but Reverb usually has a few and they're worth every penny, especially since I bought this one for $450!)
  20. The link to the information from an Italian website has already been taken down. Same thing happened last year when a German site jumped the gun with info about new Fender basses. Regardless... Step into the spotlight and experience iconic Fender® sound and style with the Player II Jazz Bass® — a stage-ready bass guitar with contemporary updates to power your performance and inspire your playing. The Player II Jazz Bass radiates timeless Fender charm, but under the hood, it’s primed for today’s players. Everything about the neck is designed for fast and fluid playability, from the Modern “C”-profile with silky satin urethane finish on the back to the comfy 9.5”-radius slab rosewood or maple fingerboard with smooth rolled edges and 20 medium jumbo frets. A classic alder body is available in both timeless Fender finishes and never-before-seen colors unearthed from the archives. Player Series Alnico V Single-Coil J bass® pickups offer sweet highs, growling mids and seismic lows that elevate any genre. An adjustable 4-saddle bridge, single-groove steel saddles and open-gear tuners ensure precise tuning stability for the flexibility to explore endless sonic possibilities. As for never-before-seen colors, I doubt it, especially since they've been "unearthed from the archives." I'm betting they'll be offering Black, Polar White, 3-Color Sunburst...and thinking outside the box, Lake Placid Blue instead of Tidepool, Dakota Red instead of Candy Apple Red, and Surf Green instead of Sea Foam Green. Hey, maybe they'll surprise me and offer Candy-Apple Green, though! I've noticed that there aren't too many Player basses available at some stores and a markdown in price for what's left. Other than that, is this the year the price jumps to $949.99 for Player basses?
  21. I called and asked them why they didn't go 3 x 3 and they couldn't give me an answer. When I asked them why they didn't at least go with a matching headstock, they hung up.
