  1. I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the people who find it necessary to post "You can't really hear them unplugged" and other worthless information every time some starts a thread about acoustic basses.
  2. Yes, I know, I have one of the best Jazz basses made.
  3. Not a Fender fan, but I wouldn't mind owning this one. I don't expect anything innovative from Fender, why should I, but this sounds like it may just be something that gets the job done, and that's really what it's all about.
  4. Two things. One, pay no attention to the acoustic bass detractors...they're completely clueless. Two, go with tapewounds or flatwounds and forget all about bronzewounds. As for Ibanez acoustic basses, the AEGB24E is pretty good. Not as nice as my acoustic bass, but not many are. I believe this uses coated strings. Feel good, nice tone.
  5. Sure, it looks like a Gibson but it might be an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV with a Gibson truss-rod cover, and the simple truth is the Epiphone is every bit as good as the Gibson for maybe one third the price. Seller's asking $600. I'd buy it myself if I had the money or of it's still for sale when I do.
  6. The price is right, not sure about how good it sounds with a bass. Hard time finding a bass video.
  7. If I had to start anew, I'd start with a Squier Sonic Precision bass. I'm a big Squier fan, I've owned half a dozen, but when the Sonic first came out, I had a hard time believing a $200 bass was even worth considering...until I actually played one. Right now, I have five basses and don’t need another one, but if I see this hanging up anywhere, I'll jump on it. Other than that, there's absolutely no reason not to buy a bargain bass and then buy something special later on. I did. Not to mention, you'll have plenty of money left over to buy a quality amp, and gig bag or case, etc.
  8. They make some nice basses, but these days, who doesn't. I think they get enough recognition, and I can name several other companies that get less. Other than that, why should anyone care? (I have to wonder the same thing every time this subject comes up, no matter the company.)
  9. By the way, only 4 Venetian Gold Thunderguns available. Two in the UK...one on Reverb. Other than that, the background wasn't exactly the problem It was lighting. Sure, a darker grey would've worked better, but...
  10. I've owned both. No real difference other than the Mercalli bolted-on neck vs the set neck and raised center section on the Thundergun.
  11. Transparent Cherry, Metallic Silver Freeze, Venetian Gold
  12. One of those basses very few know about. Sometimes I forget how good it is.
  13. I know what you mean. Had to sell a few basses recently due to moving to another state...money issues. Other than that, I almost always buy from Reverb because they have basses you just can't find in any music shops.
  14. If you're thinking about getting rid of it, it isn't very special, is it? If you simply want another bass, is there something special about the three you're considering? Have you tried them? Are they better than your Fender? Can you simply keep the Fender and buy the Thunderbird?
  15. So, a new Fender tjat isn't even a relabeled Squier Classic Vibe, merely an Affinty bass with the cheaper ceramic pickups instead of the alnico pickups in the CVs. I'm guessing cheaper pots, tuners, etc. Hats off to Fender for charging $600 for a bass that's worth half that, though. Great marketing strategy, right up there with Jackson for duping people into buying the Concert X bass.
  16. Even though I'm on the other side of the Atlantic and I've never found these in stores, I have to buy 36-bar boxes of them from Amazon, there's nothing quite like them!
  17. Orange O bass.
  18. In that case, used Squier 40th Anniversary bass, satin-smooth neck is a joy to play, or the Classic Vibe with the beautiful walnut finish.
  19. I like this HB for £110, not your typical ho-hum P bass in Vintage Burst or whatever, but I'd have to go with the Squier Sonic Precision instead. Came as a big surprise when I tried one out the other day. Couldn't stop playing it, and I'm not a P bass guy.
  20. Yes, that's a semi-hollow bass, as opposed to a true hollow-body bass or an acoustic bass. It has a center block for more sustain and better feedback resistance. Hollow-body and acoustic basses don't have a center block.
  21. My L2000 is anything but weak in passive mode. I cant count how many people ask about taming the MFD pickups because they're too hot.
