1. It's not just weight; balance plays a major role. I have a 13 pounds(!) swamp ash Overwater that balances beautifully. That lives with a Mono Betty strap, no problems.
2. I have something 'like tennis elbow, but not exactly the same' according to my GP.. I notice that reach-twist-grip (bass playing) is the most exacerbating. Bizarrely, double bass doesn't have such a bad effect, so hand and arm position has a bearing on this. I've been consciously monitoring the effect of position, and on a 5-string, playing from 5th fret on B rather than open E is definitely less stressful. Not yet tried the support things, but mean to do so.. there are some specific tennis elbow ones these days, with more particular pressure pads.
3. I'd be inclined to go into Manson's, if that's reasonably local, and take her with you. Having worked in a music shop for 15 years, the difference in feel and look is very important at that age, as is her inclusion in the process. You'll probably be able to tell which is the one just by the look on her face! Looking at your link, I sold a few LAG guitars, and the solid top folk body idea ticks several boxes.
4. I got this last year, at the same time as the Orbital pedal. Love the pedal, but I've just never got round to learninging the Hot Hand. In box, with cables and PSU. 5. You could always not snip them, just live with any bunching for a while at least. That way you can easily put them on a different bass or sell them on if they don't do what you want.
6. I'd give them a try.. if you like the results, by definition they're great! I have different strings on different fretlesses for different results.
7.
They are like hens teeth mate!!!
Speaking as a Fusion 550 owner, I'd say there's a reason for this!
8. It all looks so oxidised on the outside that I'd assume it's the same inside. 1st check the pickup.. hold red wire to jack tip, looks like the other two colours (if they both go to earth) to the cable jack plug earth. If the pickup gives something, bin the pots and jack socket and put new ones in. Make a note of all connection colours. The capacitor is probably ok.
9. Hifi interconnect makers Chord make Cream Cables http://www.chord.co.uk/about-the-chord-company/
10. Wow, 15 minutes! :-D If you like the GK attack, I'd stay with GK for the head, and go MB Fusion for the valve pre. Speaker cabs.. that Mark Bass 210 looks nice, also the variety of 1x12 is amazing!

Bought a TC Electronic Subnup from Brian.. had a chat on the phone, and all arrangements worked fine. Now I just need to get comfy with the pedal.
12.
What's so special about the cheesemakers?
You have to ask?
13. I just happen to have an unused set of Picato flat 45-130 DBE in the cupboard. . ;-)
14.
Really like Alan Thompson' s playing. Saw him many, many times with John Martyn. Good to see he's still around.
Aye.. we had to eat before going in, so sat on that side of the stage.. hear the bass? Feel it, more like! Drummer Paul Burgess was on something like his third gig. Excellent night!
15. I played an Overwater a few years back, pretty much by chance as I worked in a shop and we stocked a handful of their basses. Instantly hooked. Once I eventually went to talk to them I was initially quite flummoxed by those details.. 'you can have anything you want, but you need to tell us what that is'! I essentially went for the same bass that had hooked me in the first place, and no disappointment at all. That one still gets played regularly, as does the next Overwater, which cropped up second hand. Two distinctly different yet equally brilliant basses, each with a gigging direction. Been back since.. Turns out there's also an excellent cheesemaker just outside Carlisle. Try a few makers if you can, to see if one's work really connects with you.
16. .. aand skip on a while, they're in Keighley tonight! Just got tickets sorted, and looking forward to the soirée.
17.
Tinkered with guitar on and off for years and never really mastered it. Any tips on the best way forward, had some lessons but all the tutor was doing was learning me a new song every week but nothing else. Any good books or sites out there to have a gander at? Cheers.
For a start, find a better teacher! Plenty of teachers will look at where you are now and where you're aiming, and work accordingly.
18. Good basses, these.. here's me doing a demo video some time ago, the bass being freshly unpacked and set up. I see there's a realist pickup (use this myself) and an adjustable bridge on the one for sale.. are the strings original (as in video) or did you change those, too? That can also make a big difference to tone and response. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DFlTWfYF1A
19. Still here.. it's raining outside and the cats are bored!
20. If it has the 3 knobs plus 2 switches, it'll be the active (switchable) version. Excellent and reliable. A mate of mine has one, and I always enjoy playing it!
21. Scott Devine did a great interview with him, available on the podcast: http://www.scottsbasslessons.com/podcast/in-conversation-with-ian-king
22. That pic just shows a standard set of Strat knobs, deffo not original to the bass .. I bet if you look behind the plate only the one next to the jack socket has a capacitor. Vol Vol Tone is my bet, standard in 2 pup passives. Have you tried it plugged in?
23. My first DB was a Zeller, solid top like yours, and really got me off the ground both for learning and gigs. The K&K have a great reputation as pickups, so you have the gear.. enjoy! Got a bow with it? Thoroughly recommended.
