  1. Assuming you've got your set rehearsed OK, just walk on and do it ! I had a big ( many years) break from doing gigs, the first one was just like going straight back in again.. You'll be fine, enjoy it πŸ‘
  2. Just make sure you take someone along with you to film it.. πŸ‘
  3. Aww.. If they let you watch telly this'll cheer you up...
  4. Just say, yes dear, of course dear, smile and nod etc, you'll be fineπŸ‘
  5. Interesting that your dad was a bass player, did he play upright DB or bass guitar mainly ?
  6. I saw a YouTube video of the recent efforts from Siouxsie (of the banshees) which were a bit cringe worthy to say the least. I saw her at the Electric Ballroom in the 00s and she was still good, but from what I can see she's another one who should bow out gracefully now.
  7. Another DIY bloke, though before bass I played saxophone, the basics gleaned from the excellent "tune a day" book, although I did try a handful of lessons on sax I didn't really get anything from it. I also due to the above book got a very basic handle on simple treble clef tune reading. Ironically when I got going on sax a bit I immediately started doing band stuff, and this put a kybosh on further "learning" as I simply didn't need it for the kind of playing required ! As soon as I got into playing with others I discovered bass and thought "whoah.. that's my thing" and acquired a crappy woolworths short scale bass and off I went. This was the beginning bit of the punk era so absolutely a perfect time to crack on without actually being any good, "learning on the job" shall we say !
  8. Honestly I'd just start a claim in PP now to get your dosh back ASAP, it might prod thomann too when they get the PP notification that you're taking action. To the best of my knowledge there's no way you won't get your money back as you've done your bit.
  9. If you paid with PayPal I'd start a claim for your money back irrespective...
  10. Interesting to see the innards of it, I've not taken mine apart as I've not especially been bothered about the trem other than to tighten the adj screw, you'd think just to look at them that the yellow spring would have much more rigidity than the stock item. I found the hi pass/strangle switch quite useful myself tbh.
  11. Bands should really start doing moves like this again....
  12. He'll probably start a franchise now and make millions, then you can do him for having the idea..😁
  13. Trouble is it seems that either the seller is "safe" bank transfer or PP F&F... or the buyer is, with PP goods and services, (with fees) Again cash seems to be the safest option, but obviously not much use for long distance sales.
  14. I had similar with a metal type outfit, tho I was just filling in, not a member as such so didn't have to put up with them for too long. I was strictly warned off from playing anything but root note 'plod' too, you wonder why they bother to have a bass player at all sometimes..
  15. Ah ok, would have been remarkable if he were still performing, but thought he might still be alive
  16. Blimey KB isn't still going is he? I remember my mum saying what a nice bloke he was, as they knew him, but this would've been in the late 50s !
  17. Gertcha... And there was you tellin' me to burn that broken ibanez I rescued... 😁
  18. The headstock "logo" is bizarre to say the least.. All cotton, fast colours, made in England.. πŸ€”
  19. These pretty much always need some work according to more or less everyone who's had them, mine included. I'd think as far as I can see here you'd be wanting to shim the neck for starters. I didn't on mine but needed to give the truss rod a significant tweaking to take some of the "relief" out... Unlike for instance the Squier PJ I got that I could've literally just tuned up and done a gig with it straight out of the box. That said they're great fun to play when sorted so worth it imho.

  21. Always a bit annoying when people do a reserve on something, better to just start the thing at the minimum you'd accept. Not that I'd want this particular bass ( other than to butcher for parts maybe), though it's in the right area.
