Bb? Do you mean Eb? If you are talking about the bit with the lyrics "where you going for tomorrow" I start that in Eb!

Is Plush not G Major as opposed to G Minor? I used to play this song and am just trying to think of the tonality of the G chord.... I'm sure it was major sounding.

Done! Thanks Wayne, that does help. You are completely right- why would anyone waste that kind of money on an instrument? Madness! In fact, why would anyone spend £199? I've seen an almost identical bass on Thomann.co.uk for £99, so have decided to buy that instead. Yes, it has a brand, but who cares about brands?? Tone is in your fingers, after all! Cheers

Can only comment on my specific experiences- first we used Mackie SWA1501. Weighed a ton, but gave great punch, in not a lot of thick low end. Seemed to easily cope with the level of the SRM450's and to balance the tops only had to be set halfway. Around £300 each second hand. Now using JBL EON 518s- very different. Light, big, loads of thick low end. Lacked a bit of clarity and punch at first, but have paired with an old-skool BBE Sonic Maximiser which has tightened them right up. Much more spread to the bass than with the 15's, will fill a room with bass easy. Need to be driven a bit to keep up with the SRM450's though. I think around £800 each new? Best sub we have used was an 18" QSC. That really kicked, and we only used the one.

Couldn't resist.... Hi as stated in the listing it says Unbranded which means it has no brand no make on it. I will amend the listing so it is clearer. The pickups DO have a brand on them which says wilkinson,..If your interested in Brands I would personally recommend that you buy a bass made from similar wood with a similar sound with an expensive logo and price tag on it maybe a fender. if you can spare over a grand!!! personally whatever writing is on a a guitars headstock is of no importance whatsoever to me as a musician.,so its all about your preference really and experience.. Brands or good sounding instruments. An expensive logo on a guitar will NEVER guarantee you a wonderful instrument or add any magic to it..neither will it make you play any better .....that's practice and natural talent... tone comes from your fingers..hope that helps mate Kind Regards
Well the guy selling it replied, see below
Again, what a cock. I'd reply by saying while I agree with the sentiment, if the 'unbranded' bass he is selling is one I could buy quite a bit cheaper elsewhere without the logo rubbed off I'd not be best pleased. Looking at the headstock I'd say that's almost certainly a Harley Benton '75 Jazz with a 100% mark up.

Hmmm, not sure, certainly not to put a £500 bid down. No info and rubbish pics to boot- there is no telling whether that's a genuine model or not. Plus he seems intentionally vague in the description too which i'm always dubious of- you can almost smell the paypal dispute coming "I never described it as a genuine USA Precision bass…."
Heh. It's not ALL one way traffic, though - there are two or three dissenters.
And don't those dissenters just cut through a sea of nonsense with their logical take on the argument? It's a shame most of the OSG posters didn't pick up on that.
Whether the guard in question is a 'nice' guard or not is kinda immaterial to the specific issue. If one chooses an item from a picture posted by a seller then the finished product should at least come close. This guard doesn't.
I think most on BC realise that- it was the posters over at OSG who apparently didn't. My personal feeling is it's nothing like he ordered (in terms of representation on the Spitfire website) AND it's a disgusting guard. But then, I dig surf green, so i'm not exactly a beacon of fine taste.
I thought we had a deal?? You wouldn't ever post that pic of me wearing 'the shirt', and I would flog your splod on Fridays?? That's it, mate - no more splod-flogging for you! *Goes off in a huff - realises mistake, comes back, goes off in a taxi*
"Jane! Jane! Jaaaaaayyyne!!!!" "WHAT??!" "My SHIRT! You need to iron my FLAME shirt!! The boys will be here to go to the pub in a minute!" "Can't you just wear your Dragon shirt tonight?" "NO! That's long sleeved!! Makes my arms look small! I need my flame one!!!"
I know it's not what you ordered so it's a moot point, but in the lower-contrast shots on the OSG thread it looks like a pretty cool guard. Someone will be happy with it.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I think the images of the example tort that the OP ordered look really cool- vintage and a nice match for a P. The Tort he ended up getting (or not, in the end) look like one of those black and flame shirts you can buy down the market for £5.

Hi, Trying to make my own stomp box for the band and wanted to use a similar set up to this: http://diyguitar.ca/diy-gears/p-bass-stomp-box/ I wondered if there would be any issues with soldering the p'up straight to the jack? Or do I need to create some kind of earth connection somewhere? I'm asking as I've already today tried this with one half of a Pbass pickup (the other half had broken) and the buzzing was extreme beyond any practical use-I'm hoping it will be less of an issue with a full p bass 'humbucker', but can still imagine it causing problems. Any help appreciated!

I've read the whole of this thread and the OSG thread and a few things come to mind.... 1) The posters on OSG are mostly bonkers, and seem to think you should shut up, because the guard looks amazing anyway. They seem biased to begin with so obviously worship this guys work. 2) Spitfire's response on OSG is completely over the top. Accusing you of slander? Malicious attempts to ruin his business? Really? When reading spitfire's response it's obvious the guy is not easy to do business with. 3) The guard looks nothing like vintage burgundy or crazy 70's, and looks like solar flare. I would want another guard made too, as it is quite clearly not as described, even allowing for the variation in final products that can occur with custom parts. 4) Where is the customer service? I'm also appalled that this has been completely overlooked by the posters on OSG. Even if the seller was 'in the right' as most of them think (IMO he wasn't) you don't just dismiss customer complaints in such an arrogant way. The very fact it has gone this far should make people ask questions. Sure, it's a small business, but you don't get far by behaving like that.

Fleabass Street bass. £180. Manchester.
cameltoe replied to solo4652's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I wouldn't give £1.80 for it if it's as bad as the 3 Fleabasses I have played. -
Time to give up on the repair option?
cameltoe replied to itsmedunc's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That doesn't even look like a Squier headstock as he's described! -

To sell or not to sell....that is the question?!
cameltoe replied to paulbass's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't matter how you cut it, playing bass always ends up falling in to two categories- Jazz or Precision! One of the two will feel 'right' to you, and nothing else will do! It may have taken you 25 years, but now you have the chance to GAS over all the beautiful vintage gear! But don't feel guilty about owning 2 basses. Maybe sell the Warwick and buy another Jazz now 'the bass' has found you? -

Aren't Ashdown going to have something to say about this??
