I am good. It has been a long time Nik. I don't spend much time in BC nowadays. My 15 + years of trying to play in a reliable and enjoyable band became shipwrecked on the rocks of ego and a local dearth of singers I still have too many basses and occasionally I enjoy a dabble but I think that's probably it. I've remarried to someone very special and life, excepting an errant 15 yr old stepson, is very good. Thank you Michael your comments are much appreciated. If I had other more saleable basses it would be a keeper.

I bought this bass from WoT some while ago and it's almost exactly as I purchased it. I have 13 basses and I'm not in a band and don't see any more performing on my horizon so bass playing is firmly on my back burner. I've just bought a new (old) DSLR and I could do with selling a bass. Many of my instruments are modified or custom which inevitably means that they are difficult to sell and fetch less than standard instruments so the Roscoe Beck IV is on the block. This really is a beautiful player and has a wide range of very good tones available from it. I've not gigged it so it's only been used occasionally for practice. The only change is that the original bridge had some chrome lifting so I sourced the correct Roscoe Beck bridge in the US and the cost of around £100 and replaced it. It comes with the original case, bits and pieces and both scratchplates. I'm going to take some photographs tomorrow but I will include a link to Michael's thread for now hoping that he doesn't object. I will courier to the EU at cost and the bass is in Kendal in the Lake District should anyone want to come and try it out. Photo's to follow although Michaels pictures show it in all it's glory. I've got a friends Cort at the moment and it's a bit sick. The 'funk' pre is gone and there's a wrong sized pair of pickups in the routes. The original Mk1 Bartolini's have 3 wires and a very high resistance so I'm guessing that they are active. From reading around the subject I think these may be licensed Barts as Bartolini generally make passive Mk 1's. Has anyone done any work on a 'Funk machine'? I'm looking for some correct sized passive pups and a pre amp for not a lot of money as the bass, although sound and very playable isn't worth a fortune. Anyone been down this route or maybe have some bits tucked away? I've been through my store and not found anything. Peter

As I said in my earlier post, I had an eerily similar scenario on about the same day with Parcelforce and a big Thomann box. I fully understand where the OP is coming from. The bass that the hardcase was for was delivered much more quickly by DHL all the way and I'd have been equally upset if my semi acoustic instrument had of been chucked over my fence in the rain. As I said, the driver, who was a white van man on contract to Parcelforce, came around later with his wife because he realised he'd got it wrong. I felt sorry for him. Don't blame the OP because the driver has woeful terms and conditions and because he got the sack. The blame lies with the present employment culture that pervades our society.

That's a bit of a coincidence. I had an identically sized Thomas box tossed over my similarly sized garden fence this week. Not in kendal by any chance are you? Mine was thankfully just a hardcase, unharmed. The delivery driver (who was a contractor to Parcelforce) seemed to realise he'd been a plonker and he came back in the evening to check all was okay. He wasn't to know what was in it though.

I'm not in a band at the moment and I'm looking at other creative avenues for bass playing. Having watched and listened to Steve Lawson I've developed an interest in loopers. For me, a looper would be a means of playing a loop and then playing something over the top of it, preferably with a rhythm track added in. Maybe mixing a little fretless in too. Loopers with rhythm (and effects) are the Boss RC-30/300. Perhaps the 300 is overkill for home use although it's certainly got lots of rhythm tracks. Any other ideas?
