  1. The highest tension roundwounds that I've experienced are GHS Bass Boomers and Fender 7150 nickels. A set of either with the 105 E should suffice.
  2. I would try and pick up a Squier 40th Anniversary if you can find one still. Great bass for not a lot of cash.
  3. Was the bass properly set-up to accommodate the smaller gauge? I've never had issues with extra light gauges.
  4. The PMT in Northampton felt like that ten years ago.
  5. The Am Std series already have Custom Shop pickups. Great basses and a fantastic price. If anything, I think you have undervalued it. GLWTS.
  6. I do one string off, one string on. Detune. Take string off without snipping. Colour in nut slot (pencil). Install new string. Make sure the wraps are neat and low on the capstan. Make sure string is properly seated in nut and bridge saddle. Tune to pitch. Stretch string. Set witness points. Tune again. Repeat for the other strings before checking intonation across all four strings. Witness points are a 30 second task but so many players don't do it: https://hazeguitars.com/blog/string-seating-and-witness-points#:~:text=The 'witness point' advice is,when you remove the string).
  7. Has anyone tried the nickel version of this string?
  8. If anyone asks why you play a Squier, tell them you left the Fender at home. Snobs don't understand that how an instrument plays and sounds is better than what's on the headstock.
  9. Are Picato still going? Has anyone used their rounds recently?
  10. So how long before the switch to Dimarzios? 😁
  11. Mastodon went downhill after Crack The Skye. Nothing good since then.
  12. People are still talking about it 20 years on. It must still resonate with fans.
  13. Anyone who is remotely successful always gets hate. Especially on BC. Bass is fugly but that's just my opinion.
  14. I have a Zoom H2N for recording rehearsals and it's fantastic.
