    Always pre EQ if going to the PA for myself. In my experience, a lot of venues prefer that. Reason being, they can get a good sound out front and you can have a different stage sound which allows you to cut through better. Win-win.

    I would say Lo-Riders are better suited for yourself if you require the 40 G. Hi-Beams and Fat Beams are low tension with a 40 gauge so that may not work for yourself, especially with a floppy B string.
