NZ and Fiji is where the swamp stuff comes from. 10's of thousands of years old. Kauri is a podocarp. Podocarps were around when the dinosaurs were kingpins. Conifers and deciduous trees are much newer. In NZ we have a big problem with a fungal nasty that must have come in on someone's undetected dirty boots. Is is lethal to Kauri so known as Kauri dieback disease. It was undetected for some time so trampers have spread it widely.

Ebony is kinda getting to be an endangered species isn't it? I am quite happy playing on ebanol. If that leaves a little bit of ebony for violins that can really use it, that's ok by me.

I stumble at which are the inputs and which the outputs going from your switch to the main board and the EQ and back to the switch. It would be very easy for it to never work again if I was doing the job!

Trace SMX fx loops are parallel. The only way defective loop jack could cause dropout is if the Effects Level was cranked.

The risk with a hard thread lock is you get the reverse problem of spinning the jack the other way trying to loosen the nut.

There are many grades of thread lock. You want a gentle one like Loctite 222. Use with ventilation and don't inhale the fumes. All these products contain a kind of dilute superglue that is tolerably toxic until you get too much exposure to it. Then it can cause mayhem in your immune system.

Brand new speakers are sometimes duff. If it's not that and it's not the tube then you're going to need a tech to sort it out. Looking at your knob settings you could possibly have blown the new speaker. 4 on the output is all she's got when the green light is constant on the input side. There's a lot of low bass on the EQ.

Thunpinator only takes out 30hz and below. Not the same thing at all. Depending on the room my HPF is working at 70hz sometimes.

They are if you get one built or build one yourself from the free schematic or get one from the saint on talkbass who does a free middleman service. Or there are other similar products.

Thumpinator is very limited in its functionality. You are way better off with a proper adjusting knee filter like FDeck.

If all the cones were working and you put 9v to it you better be wearing two pair of underpants. As it sits I don't think you will be hearing much of anything but be prepared for a fright just in case. If you blew 2 those would jump opposite direction to the working ones then settle back to neutral.

Most bass amps used in garages are because that's the biggest space available for rehearsing with drums and whatnot.

What about the band?

The last bass I got from the US came via DHL Expedited service. Hell pricey but they were true to their word in handling end to end with no additional charges aside from what I owed NZ Customs. As sender you always have to fill in a Customs form for the shipment. Very straightforward. Always give the actual sale price in your local currency.

The big problem is dimensions. It would be a lot more viable to ship with the neck off and forget the hard case. If going that route you can post it either Royal Mail direct to NZ or via NZ Post YouShop scheme out of UK. I hope you know who you are dealing with. Scamming has been on the rise here lately when it used to be rare.

I wouldn't be overly concerned. If another failure is going to lose you a gig then at 106 slappers a pop you could just replace the 2nd one and call it money well spent. Definitely look into the high passing situation. Doof doof kick doesn't have to be loud to give vocal speakers the heebie jeebies.

Under rating combined with not listening carefully enough. A heavy drop can shift magnets on older style drivers. Most likely you need a HPF to take away LF transients from kick drum and mic drops or just stupid bassy guitar. Usually there's a low shelving button on each mixing channel of a mixing desk these days. Make sure they are always on. Guitards like to turn them off.

I haven't played any amp that didn't sound better for my HPF, and moreso with EUBs that seem to have prodigious lows. Generally speaking a HPF gives a far better tailoring to the low end because the bass EQ is free from needing cutting. You might find your bass knob winds up at 12 or even 1pm with a far more even tone than you could ever get without HPF.
