1. I'd be interested to compare this with my new '56 replica to see the difference between the single and split pickups. Lovely bass, looks incredible!
2. Don't do it, disappointments a plenty.
3.
Will probably help prospective buyers to put a weight up! Looks great though, good luck with it! Si
I've found my weight tolerance for Fender Basses is much higher due to the distribution/balance I reckon I could haul a 10lb fender over my usual 9lb preferance. Martin's a top bloke as well (works for Overwater, or did?? So you know its going to have flawless playability). I really like the aged finish but I know i'd still buy a brown Tortoise Shell plate to compare against the black. Rosewood Fingerboard with blocks
4. Just play the crap out of em all I say, what will be will be but at least you got your moneys worth.
5. Just wanted to flag up that whilst in the throws of series debate as to whether mim,mij or mia foam is the best Yorick posted me some top notch stuff in the post for nothing in return! What a bloody nice guy, I'm from Carlisle not used to acts of kindness haha. Big thanks to Nige for that!! Sounds the biz
6. Insane basses, top notch. Tom Hamilton from Aerosmith played the most amazing bass solo on one of these.
7. Top notch finish indeed! I love the Seymour Duncan Antiquity series
8.
I've got some high density rubber foam matting if you want a chunk. It's 14mm thick. Drop me a PM if you want some. Nige
Pm'd
9. Get 'B' Tattooed on your thumb n keep it
10. Are you sure its an alder body? I'm not sure when Tokai changed to having Sen Ash bodies
11. I've always used Thomastik Infeld Flatwounds, I love D'addario rounds but the flats were lacking the vintage tone a lil for me. I'm no expert but TI's are pretty safe, I would go for Labella otherwise.
12. Just a quick question: Where would I get a hold of this? The Local market? I have seen it in packaging before, i'm thinking its the really firm dark grey stuff. Cheers Oli Matt
13. The necks on these 80s Jackson necks are fantastic, I regret selling mine. They're worth every bit of £500, I think £200's criminal.
14. Haha, me and Cetera seem to be on the exact same wavelength when it comes to gear . I didn't mind the glitter band too much until all the baggage that came with it...erm but I'd probably be looking to John Birch were I to play his music - not sure it would go down well but after couple o buds and i'd give it a bash!! Chris Holmes is the exact reason I got it, just needed the Budweiser graphic and i'd be sorted, been listening to WASP since I was 4 and wore out my dads Crimson Idol tape. ahh how sad , going to see em in November
15.
if you still want the rick i would give you it and £100 for this guitar and the charvel you offered me
Thanks for the offer but its still a little steep for me, I'll keep it in mind though
16.
Pics are way too small mate!
+1 great price though!
17. I purchased a '56 Bravewood Tele/Precision Bass copy from Kevin on friday afternoon and arrived here for monday - can't ask for better service than that, superquick packaging. The bass and case turned up in mint condition with extras and a brand new set of strings fitted, a fantastic value quality guitar to match the others in his collection and those sold previously on BC (the Nordstrands!!). Love it when musicians look after their stuff. Flawless correspondance, and a true gentleman to talk to. Thanks again Kevin, been searching for a great vintage style bass such as this for a loooong time . All the best!
18.
Still do it and charvel for the rick 100 bucksd
I don't understand, the ESP and Charvel for the Rick 100 bucks?
19. How are you supposed to know where they are if its collection only?
20. I didn't like blizzard pearl at first but when I see it more and more with rosewood and white plate its actually quite funky. Change the neck to a rosewood jazz I say and get rid of the sticker lol
21.
Price? I quite like the Bongo. Having played a couple they've sounded great and played nicely. The looks are much better in person too; they look miles better strapped on! Probably my favourite bass in the Musicman range, although I do seriously question the use of basswood in the body, it seems like a bit of a cheapo option! I remember seeing Joe Satriani live being supported by some guy called Johnny A. Johnny's bassist played a white Bongo 5 HH and sounded absolutely dreadful, like he was behind a wall of pillows. The Dave LaRue came onstage with Joe playing a variety of Bongos which sounded consistently great! So the player has a lot to answer for!
I went to this gig, although I thought Johnny. A's bassist sounded sweet. Walking basslines a plenty. Dave La Rue's one of my favourite bass players and he used both a Sterling and a Bongo with Satriani (mainly the sterling). I preferred the Bongo, the Sterling's neck is cramped chordally and the tone not beefy enough - I vote Bongo.
22. Defretted that would be high on my wish list. Brilliant with frets as well though! ESP are vastly underrated.
23. Lucky man!! I want it. Its like the Fender 50th Anniversary but better value. +1 a simple white scratchplate would look nicer.
