1. Selling a Delano PMVC 4 FE/M2 split-coil P bass pickup, boxed, been fitted but in near new condition. I've literally only just bought this for my latest "boutique bitsa P" build, as I've only heard good things about these pickups, but the build plan has now changed and I'm going for a more vintage look Manufacturer spec here: http://www.delano.de/products.html?&cHash=ddc58fffeb&tx_smtdelano_pi1%5Bcat%5D=1&tx_smtdelano_pi1%5Bseries%5D=6&tx_smtdelano_pi1%5Bstrings%5D=5&tx_smtdelano_pi1%5Bsystem%5D=45 - they promote is as a "rock" pickup with a Stingray-esque edge (these are factory fitted in some Sandberg basses), but reviews suggest it's actually a very transparent and articulate pickup - http://www.talkbass.com/threads/delano-pmvc-fe-m2-review.863048/ Looking for £50 plus postage - save me from committing to yet another project........
2. Facings are Thuya burl: http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/softwoods/thuya/ Stunning bass
3. I used to own a 4003FL and they're lovely - the varnished rosewood board feels similar to an epoxied one, and dialling in a "Macca thump" type tone on the neck pickup sounds even thicker and woodier on fretless. Massive sustain. Only potential downside I suppose could be that many don't find the slab body comfy for finger style, but I've never found that an issue with Rics Chris (Beedster) will be along in a minute to comment I'm sure as he's also keen on these (it was his I used to own, only traded it back to get my mitts on his '65 P...... I've tried pretty much every passive fretless out there, personal favourite is definitely my '77 Ovation Magnum 1
4. Vox were doing it back in the mid-60's; admittedly just a basic generated E tone: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vox_Bass_Guitar

Feedback for Aero71

Just bought a P bass body from Marinus - smooth easy deal, a pleasure to communicate with, and the body arrived swiftly and expertly packed Deal with in confidence
6. I've a few Gibbos: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/76091-gibson-porn/page__st__60 and none of them would be my first choice for slap. Not my playing style of choice, but definitely the best slap tone I ever had was from an '80 MusicMan Sabre - agree with previous comments that Status / Alembic / Jaydee is probably the way to go though if it's your thing
7. Traded a Schaller bridge for a Badass one with ash - smooth easy deal, great BC-er to do business with
8. Did a trade with Lee for his very nice bitsa P bass - great communications, and he posted it packed very securely fast as could be - top guy to deal with!
9. A belated one from a deal in late summer! Chris bought a Wal off me, at a meet up in a Suffolk beer garden - he was on his way to a wedding, I was aimlessly enjoying the sunshine and the beer I'd bought the same Wal off him last year; at least the third time we've bought stuff back off eachother (think our wives are getting suspicious......). I should mention that the deal was a kind of three-way one that helped me to acquire something I particularly wanted and couldn't otherwise do; it involved Chris taking the biggest personal financial risk I have ever known anyone make, and he did so without a murmur. As many have said in these pages; Chris is a genuine legend and diamond geezer in these parts - particularly enjoyed silverfoxniks story above!
10.
Simply buy an old Cortina estate, load the Fridge into the back, throw a tartan rug over it and park it out of sight round the corner. The Mrs will never know.
Rumbled........ I thought I was the only one who'd done that! Have to admit I've never tried an 8x10, but have had on/off affairs with Mesa 1516's over the years, which have a mass roughly equal to the sun - still have one Modern cabs are fab, but nothing seems to move air like a big old-school cab......
11. Love my Kramer 650B, and this seems truly bargainaceous - I've seen the necks go for more than that Not just tonally great, but necks are zero-maintenance, no truss rod to faff about with Lumie bump
12. Not mine, but I wish it was!!! Just up my street, especially as JJB was my inspiration for taking up bass (Cambridge Corn Exchange, 1977) Hmmmmmmm............
13. With my first bass set up (Kalamazoo KB-1 & Carlsboro Stingray) I used to pick up Police radio fairly regularly. Just hope they didn't hear my angst-laden but dire punk fumblings on bass Sadly, no voices from the ether since......
14. Bought a P bass pickguard off Dan - smooth, easy deal, great communications, super fast postage - thanks fella!
15. Hehe - you KNOW you'll be trading it back to me one of these days Chris...... Seriously; even compared to other '80's Wals this one is an absolute gem - it was only prised out of my hot little hands as Chris was an absolute star and helped me acquire something I wanted more, Enjoy mate, and I reckon an unlined ebony board would look so right with that wenge body
16. Lovely old 'Ray, rather making me miss my old Sabre.... Bump and PM
17. Very classy.... PM sent
18.
Cheers this all sounds like good advice. What's the best cleaner? People have said use Tung oil which dries hard like expoxy would this be a.good idea?
I'm fairly sure there's Tung oil as an ingredient in the Danish oil I mentioned above - it does dry hard, but more like a sealant than a varnish, and does seem to actually harden the wood; I've generally used round wound strings and the (ebony) board on my 1977 Ovation Magnum 1 fretless is almost unmarked. As pointed out, ebony is a very non-absorbent wood, so a very light application is all it needs
