  1. Yes he is. I'd say he was the best punk bassist of the time.
  2. Well this isn't going to help my bank balance. I've already got the Cali76 bass compressor and I was looking for a really decent overdrive. It's hopeless trying to resist.
  3. I couldn't get past the first five minutes. What a crap demonstration. Most of what I heard was just strings clattering against frets. Maybe they should have tried different grades of fret wire for a tone comparison. Like a bloody filing cabinet falling down a fire escape. A nice simple, repetitive walking bass line is what was needed here to give time to clearly hear each note.
  4. Jesus H Christmas. How much??? I know someone who paid considerably less for one of his guitars only 5 or 6 years ago.
  5. If it was £500 cheaper I'd consider thinking about it and then I'd throw it in a drawer and never wear it.
  6. I didn't know he'd died. That's a huge loss to music. Mark made some incredible music, solo and with many bands. He had an amazing voice. I'm now listening to this. Mark Lanegan at his very best.
  7. I have just started running again in an effort to become less voluptuous. I really hate running but it shifts weight fast. Anyway, I have discovered that Cult of Luna's new masterpiece played loud can actually drown out the experience of running. It's an absolutely brilliant record which brings a sense of apocalyptic doom right from the drum intro right to the last note.
  8. That's why I said it was unlikely. There's a "lady" who's always on karaoke in the roughest pub in town who does a good Ace of Spades. I've also seen her knock a bloke out while singing and not miss a beat. He'd knocked over her pint.
  9. I could understand a band specifying a male or female singer. You're very unlikely to find a lady who could imitate Lemmy's vocals for example. Maybe even if it's a band member who would do backing vocals and you want a female backing vocal behind a male lead. The rest of the band, I'd just want to play with the most competent players no matter what sex, race, religion etc. Just as long as they're not heavy stoner, I can't be dealing with them again.
  10. I'm not going to say his music is bad and anyone who likes it is wrong. I'm just saying that personally, I don't get it.
  11. Some interesting stuff. He's a clever bloke. It's a shame there was nothing going back to his metal days, Cream were a million miles away from what Suicidal played. No matter how many times I hear Jaco, I just don't get it.
  12. If you have to ask - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  13. In that case could he afford the required tool kit to set it up?
  14. You're expecting people to buy what appears to be the most expensive bridge on the market based on a claim that it improves sustain and tone. You give nothing to back up those claims so I have asked questions which could lead to logical reasoning in the design which would back up your claims. If you chose a material based on the ratio of hardness to weight that would make sense for transmission of vibration without adding too much weight or if it was a UTS vs weight ratio that would also make some sense to help validate your design. You seem to just expect people to buy the most expensive bridge on the market based purely on the word of the person selling it.
  15. So really you need to spend £640 on bridges rather than "just" £320?
  16. And what made you select that particular grade? There's no such thing as a best grade for every purpose. The correct choice matches the material properties against the design requirements. 6000 series aluminium isn't particularly hard unless you heat treat it or forge it. Don't get excited about it being an aeronautical grade, there's hundreds of them, some very strong, some very hard, some very weak and some very soft.
