  1. I think I'd take the Killing Joke gig. Touring the world, playing to some of the most loyal audiences in metal and getting paid for it is more appealing than getting rich. I've never been motivated by money, if I was I wouldn't be an engineer.
  2. I'm more of a Paul Raven era fan although Turn to Red is an exceptionally good tune.
  3. I'm very much not a fan of the Verve, or any britpop really. I'll be honest, I thought he produced a load of boy bands but it seems I may have been mistaken. He did produce Dido, Bananarama and James though who are all pretty terrible.
  4. Don't get your hopes up too much. Chuck is great, better than Zach but the songs just sound like they were thrown together over a weekend.
  5. That is not a controversial opinion. It is my opinion that Youth of Killing Joke should be expelled from the band for his contribution to modern pop music as a producer.
  6. My parents neighbour who is a music teacher loves Jacob Collier. He also likes Airborne which I feel is the musical opposite, dirty, simple, loud, entertaining and fun.
  7. Did they start from the name and then try to make it work?
  8. There's a band booked in to our local venue who play the music of Red Hot Chilli Peppers on bagpipes. I have two opinions on that, one controversial and one not. Red Hot Chilli Peppers haven't made a good song since blood sugar sex magic Bagpipes cannot improve any music or event or situation. Any situation where a bagpipe is playing could be improved by removing the bagpipe. My mates bagpipes were blown up by the bomb squad after he left them in the centre of Bath one night while drunk. Some say it was the best sound they ever made.
  9. With Elton John. It's what he would have wanted.
  10. I was at that Jay Z Glastonbury gig. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. Better than Metallica which was just boring. Of all the metal bands they could have had, they chose those bloated, boring old men. Kanye was just crap. Maybe if he removed his head from his anus he might sound better. Stormzy at Reading was surprisingly good, Rabea Massood opening the set for him on guitar was a good move.
  11. Praise The Lord & Pass The Ammunition - Serj Tankian
  12. One Inch Man - Kyuss
  13. Resistance Frequencies - Anti Flag
  14. Danger! High Voltage - Electric Six
  15. Battery Acid - Queens Of The Stone Age
  16. And his electric guitar era was his best. I do think Dylan wrote some of the greatest rock songs of all time, they just didn't sound great until someone else covered them. Maggies Farm was both Dylan and Rage Against The Machines best song
  17. I'd rather hear a baboon concherto
  18. Reported for hate speech
  19. He was responsible for stoner metal though so he's alright. Using the mafia to stop any rock concerts in Palm Springs forced them to have parties in the desert using generators and boom, stoner metal was born
  20. I know this is unpopular opinions but you've just crossed a line
  21. Absolutely agree. I don't get it at all.
  22. And another thing. I love rock music but I am so bored of unimaginative bands. It just puts me off when I see the very standard set up of Les Paul's through Marshalls and a Fender Precision. You just know you're going to hear the same old recycled Zeppelin & Sabbath riffs and solos made up of standard blues licks. You know the lead guitarist is going to make those faces every time he hits a high note. You know the bassist will remain completely static on stage and sound exactly the same through every song. It's just boring and it's been done a million times before and it's got to stop. There's so many options for guitars, basses and amps, don't try to be a bargain basement guns n roses because they already exist and we don't need a crappy version in the corner of the Lamb & Flag on a Saturday night.
  23. I'm definitely right about that being my opinion of big gigs. I'm not sure whether it's right right
  24. I've not heard good things about RHCP live and that's from big fans of them. Personally, I hate big gigs. I wouldn't see anyone in an arena or stadium. Even at Glastonbury, I hate going to the Pyramid stage. You're just so far from the band. I'd rather see a smaller band in a small venue so it at least feels like you're in the same room as the band.
  25. My daughter has asked to borrow my Thunderbird and my amp and my pedal board for her school prom. On top of that, she expects me to put off selling my Jag and polish it so her and her band mates can arrive in V8 thunder. I'll take her in my crappy Skoda and she can play her own bass and use the school amp.
