  1. I was listening to the What Makes This Song Stink (Lenny Kravitz special episode) podcast yesterday. It included a spoof advert for bandcamp which used the slogan "...because three of your friends have to listen to half of one of your songs somewhere" seems accurate to me.
  2. I think AI needs to be regulated for the benefit of everyone. If it replaces all the skilled workers then thats millions of people losing their jobs, countries losing vast amounts of disposable income within the population and ultimately, no one has the money to buy whatever it is that AI is manufacturing.
  3. Its definitely replacing a skill.
  4. I don't think thats technically AI. Its just an analysis tool in the software. A lot of things are getting called AI in the marketing nonsense when they're not.
  5. Have fun and good luck.
  6. Something I do enjoy that AI couldn't replicate is when musicians try something weird. Like a band I saw at the weekend with a funk metal song about being a fish farmer or everything Igorrr has ever done.
  7. My favourite one, when I was in a sludge metal band was someone committing on a video that we should switch to playing popular covers to make us more popular Thanks for that career advice. I always thought disgusting, soul crushing metal that appeals to weirdos was the route to fame and wealth. Id expected to be the new Taylor Swift by now.
  8. Rex Browns grinding, growling tone with Pantera. The most perfect metal bass tone. No effects pedals, just a Spector NS2 in to his GK amp
  9. Maybe thats the way to sabotage AI, expose it to the out of tune noodling of the average BC member. I could probably break it myself.
  10. I give up on Facebook and Instagram. AI has just made them even more irritating than they were before
  11. It does cut costs for the businesses using AI but does that saving get passed on to the consumer? I seriously doubt it.
  12. Im currently at a point where I will avoid knowingly listening to bands who I know use AI.
  13. Should AI have any place in music? Musicians are quite rightly against AI being used to create music but some of the same people seem fine with using it for artwork or videos so happy with replacing other artists who support the music industry. Considering that its replacing real artists plus uses enormous amounts of energy plus it keeps any information you put in (nothing is ever free), is it right in your opinion to use AI as part of your art or any art?
  14. Subjected to a beating - Dying Fetus Double points?
  15. That looks ideal for playing 70's porno background music. You'll be needing a moustache to go with it
  16. Floods by Pantera. Rex Brown must be one of the most under appreciated bassists. The bass groove behind Dimebags epic solo is just brilliant. There's nothing particularly hard to play but there's a lot to remember.
  17. My daughters band won one a few years ago and it did really give them a boost with a few festival bookings plus a couple local venue owners were in the audience and booked the.
  18. The ones I've been to had bands who I know normally sound good and none of the competing bands were inexperienced. They were all pretty good acts
  19. What's the general opinion of battle of the bands type competitions? Ive not entered any been to a few for my daughters band and mates and it seems that a big part of winning is not about who is best but who turns up with the most mates to vote for them. 90% of the people in the room know who they're voting for before a single note has been played. Every one of these competitions Ive been to has awful sound. On the positive side, it puts bands in front of promoters and can result in bookings for decent bands who can perform. Its also good for filling a venue and giving them a few nights of good business. Most of these competitions do have judges as well as audience voting so maybe that evens things out a bit. I don't think music should be competitive.
  20. I went to a venue tonight with a signature sound and that sound is muddy bass and drums with bloody awful guitar and vocals. The same for five bands. Oddly, the sound was much better in the toilets. Maybe the sound tech had the squirts and spent the evening in there.
  21. Id like to see a Fender 5 string headless fan fret active with triple pickups and built in cheese board.
  22. Steady now. They've had some serious innovation. They did a new colour about 5 years ago. Thats serious innovation.
  23. I believe Gibson have the same exception. Neither Gibson or Fender have created a new product in 50 years.
  24. To get famous as a YouTube player, you need to slap 100 notes a second with an expression that suggests you've farted and its bad news. The playing should absolutely not sound good. New basses should be attacked with various abrasive tools to scrape off the paint in areas it would never actually wear through use. Joe Dart is mostly about the smug expression. Metal bassists must own every Darkglass product and a fan fret, 5 string, active bass. Jazz bassists now only use BC Rich Warlock basses. Picks are now compulsory.
  25. Thats quite interesting. It explains why im boosting the mids a lot in my amp, the tonepump has quite a mid scoop. Based on the audio samples in this video, the tonepump seems more aggressive and overall, probably the better choice for me but probably not for anyone playing less aggressive music.
