  1. I'd tune the 5 string down as well. I assume you're playing metal and there will be lots of playing riffs off open string which gets really tricky if you're not in the right tuning. Playing something like Reign In Blood would probably be impossible if you aren't in the same tuning as the guitar or have 8 fingers 10 inches long
  2. A little of each. I only have one bass and one amp but the amp is 600w with a 4x10 so maybe I should downsize although smaller cabs seem to be more expensive than big ones
  3. Well I finished with the band with two gigs on consecutive nights, the first was brilliant, couldn't have been better. The second had terrible sound, we were the wrong support act so the audience weren't in to us and I got terrible hand cramp. Driving home I was glad I wouldn't have to do it again. I put all my gear up for sale and couldn't wait for it to go then I got enquiries and got doubts about giving up. I'm confused
  4. Holywood Swinging - Kool And The Gang
  5. Ashdown ABM 600. Really great condition. Everything works as it should.
  6. That'll be the cab, the Terror isn't a great amp. Tons of power but a horrible preamp. I've met a few bassists who use them and just run an external preamp in to the effects return to bypass the Orange preamp.
  7. Just saw this video. I can't play this song with two hands and I've tried plenty of times. This is seriously impressive
  8. The place I used to use had a Trace Elliot V Type with TE 4x10 and 1x15. It sounded colossal.
  9. Orange OBC410 4x10 speaker cabinet. Original eminence drivers. Telex is a bit grubby in places and there's a couple little snags but no real tears. Would consider a swap or px for a 2x10, 2x12 or 1x15
  10. Two Notes Le Bass dual channel value preamp in good condition - £150 Darkglass Vintage Microtubes overdrive in good condition - £150 Boss TU3 digital chromatic tuner pedal in good condition - £35 Harley Benton PowerPoint ISO 2 Pro with 6x 9v outputs and 2x switchable 9/12/18v outputs - £35
  11. One level down from smart casual racism and a lot more relaxed than formal racism.
  12. Crack the Sky was their peak but what they made after that was good as far as mainstream metal goes. I'd say they're still making better music than Metallica.
  13. I love some of the early Metallica stuff but Black onwards is all bad. On the odd occasion they wrote good music, they ruined it with dreadful production. I honestly don't understand why they're still huge when there's so many other bands making much better metal music. It's about time Mastadon or Baroness too their place as hard rock/metal giants
  14. Scott Reader from Kyuss did audition with Metallica. I think Scott was too good for Metallica as well.
  15. I think Cliff would have been amazing in a stoner metal band. Who knows, maybe he'd have lead them in that direction if he'd lived long enough to hear Kyuss or Fu Manchu
  16. Possibly a bit controversial but Jason Newstead was the best Metallica bassist. Cliff was an amazing bassist possibly better than Jason but I think Jason suited Metallica better
  17. Trujillos audition was amusing when he suggested playing Battery and Lars questions whether he can play that fast without a pick, it's just obvious that he's worried he can't drum that fast any more.
  18. Some kind of monster is just car crash viewing. It was commissioned by the band and I don't understand how they watched the finished product and thought "yeah we come across well, let's release it"
  19. An extra heavy bass could double as a weapon to fight your way out of really rough venues. If I ever play a flat roof pub, I'd rather a Peavey T40 than an Ibanez SR just in case things get a bit lively.
  20. Are YOU having a problem with the weight? If not then don't worry about what others think
  21. Yeah, I think maybe I'm just not the right person to be in a band
  22. My final gig tonight and I didn't go out on a high. Hand cramp meant I could barely hold my pick in the last few songs and my playing sucked. We were opening for a Motorhead tribute and unfortunately, the crowd weren't in to our stoner/sludge metal. Not a good night. Even the drive home was horrible with the wind and rain.
