I just spotted yet another advert for a Metallica tribute looking for a bassist. This one is different, concentrating on Load and later (post good stuff). That's pretty niche (and rubbish)

Do you use the GX100 in to an amp or straight out the DI?

I accidentally added reverb to a heavily overdriven bass track in my DAW. I like the noise it made and thought it could be an interesting effect to add for baas breaks in songs. Has anyone tried this? Does it work well in the real world? Would a cheap Behringer reverb be any good or should I splash out on a fancy one?

My regular barber wants to start a band playing Status Quo songs in the style of Motorhead. It could be a winning idea. The songs are OK, they just sound boring because of the way they're played

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs at SWX in Bristol last night. Support band, Irked were superb. Loads of punk energy and some almost heavy riffs. Pigs were absolutely brilliant as always with their Sabbath inspired noise. Great performance and as always, the sound in SWX was brilliant. Third time I've seen them and they just keep getting better. The mosh pit was rather lively, I've got a few bruises this morning.

Every cover band does Paranoid (badly) and Iron Man is a bit over played. The Wizard should be in your set as well, I covered it in a band once it's great to play on bass

You might have to send that back to the manufacturer. Most amp techs can't do anything with pcb's and processors other than check the bassics.

Their live sets must be constantly interrupted by drunk people shouting "Play Money/comfortably numb/brick in the wall"

I think anything can do metal. I've even seen a Hoffner violin bass used by a doom band before. A precision and humbucker should be an ideal pickup combination

I like that. Tribute to a hugely popular rock band that doesn't play the songs everyone wants to hear.

I keep seeing Metallica tribute bands everywhere, there's hundreds of the buggers and most are probably terrible (even worse that the real thing post Newstead). And it got me thinking, every obvious band has their tribute act, but what's the most obscure tribute you've seen? I once saw a Melvins tribute band which seemed pretty odd. They even had two drummers and were pretty good.
