  1. We don't really intend to do any further recording or sell music. This project is just about having some fun and playing some gigs. I guess it's not difficult to get some guitars recorded at home, drums will be a bit more tricky
  2. Simple man - Deftones
  3. We've decided as a band that it's time to record a demo to get some gigs booked. We're an all originals doom band so we're loud and dirty so there's some discussion about whether to record separate tracks or do live recordings. I like the live idea. Will the less polished sound be a disadvantage or advantage for getting bookings?
  4. I'd also recommend used. It has the advantage that you can sell it on when you're done and probably not lose anything. Squier Jazz/Precision bass or Ibanez SR300 would be my choice with an old Peavey or Ashdown amp.
  5. I particularly enjoyed the thinness of tone from their instruments and the drummer who will never be accused of over playing
  6. I've never heard of Khrangbin or whatever it is so I thought I'll check them out on the you tube. Holy crap they're dull. The beigeness was far worse than @Leonard Smalls suggested. Even their instruments are beige
  7. Well that's a shame. Good luck with your sale. It's a great looking bass amp s bargain
  8. Nicole was with them when I saw them. She was pretty decent. I guess he recruits female bassists for the backing vocals. Same case with Pixies I guess.
  9. I missed your comment. I kind of gave up on them around the same time. I saw them at Glastonbury in about 2015 and saw too much of Billy's gut in his I'll fitting shirt. It was like watching a second rate Smashing Pumpkins tribute band.
  10. No mention of D'Arcy Wertzky yet? Sadly not much talent these days but part of Smashing Pumpkins when they were good.
  11. Gravedigger song - Mark Lanegan
  12. Ace of Spades - Motorhead
  13. Is it a definite no to posting? As a soft southerner, it's far too far to collect otherwise I'd have it.
  14. You're too late. It's sold to the bassist in a well known heavy rock band
  15. Looks like the SB1 is a bit over budget. £1200 seems to be very bottom end price.
  16. Not sure I can stretch to the preamp as well. I've got a LeBass preamp which is fairly nasty, that'll have to do
  17. I do like a bit of Red Fang, his bass tone is just what I want
  18. This discussion reminded me I haven't listened to Savages in ages. They've been blasting out loud all day.
  19. That is good value but (this may be controversial) I don't like the burst with tort pickguard. It's a bit too motown looking for a doomy punky noisy old bastard
  20. I would describe it as beautifully disgusting
  21. I nearly forgot Ayes Hassan of Savages. Nasty bass tone and some of the very best, most creative post punk bass
  22. There's loads of great female bassists. Paz Lenchantin, Kim Deal and Sean Yseult are some of my favourites. My own offspring is a fairly handy bassist, certainly better than me which isn't particularly impressive. Her school band currently have Hysteria by Muse and Orion by Metallica in their set.
  23. My Generation - The Who Well that was the obvious choice
  24. Beat it - Michael Jackson
  25. Whole of the moon - The Waterboys
