I've had (and gigged) a Boss TU12 tuner for 20+ years and other than a replacement battery clip it's never flackered and still going strong! The plastic slip over case is more gaffer tape than case but Hey it's R&R

So, I'm sort of struggling to achieve an array of sounds and tones[/quote] So your basically looking at new pups and electrics... you have to weigh up if spending a wedge on upgrades will give you the bass that you want and bear in mind that you will 'not' recoup what you spend on upgrades. Upgrades generally make a bass a bit more desirable but you'll be lucky if they increase the value of the instrument by 10% of the value of the upgrades (not the total value of the instrument). If the actual bass skeleton of the bass is exactly what you want and you 'know' that upgrades will definitely get you the tone you desire then fair enough but if you can't be certain of these things, I'd suggest selling and getting a used example of a bass that will give you what you want. So speaketh the person who has spent wedges of money doing exactly what I've told you not to do... do as I say not do as I do

As has been said previously you just need a small amount to start with but your first lesson should be pretty much assessing where they are up to so that you can plan what you intend doing with them in the future.

Great craftsmanship and quality woods I'm sure but I bet that it balances like a bitch when it is on a strap!

The reason that people put on 'bidders with less than...' is that newbies can join and go bid happy, then suddenly have a change of heart and they don't complete the sale (especially as you can no long leave them negative feedback). You can get your fees back if the sale doesn't go through but it is still a pain in the backside and a waste of time and effort. I have to say though that if someone has offered you what you want then sell it to them! Just make sure that you have the funds in your hands before letting it go.

BB[/quote] If I read it right the OP wants something 'warmer' than an Eden, rather than something cleaner. If an Eden isn't warm enough you 'may' need to look at valves. I emphasis the word 'may' need valves as I've owned valve amps that could cut glass With my Thunderfunk set flat (with a little tweak on the timbre knob) through my DB112s, I find my tone full and warm BUT this is less apparent when using Neo speakers. Are the Bergs Neo?

Played my last gig with my band All very amicable, most of the band wanted to go down a harder rock (metal) route and I didn't! The crowd made it a very enjoyable last gig and it wouldn't have been the same if the singer hadn't given his car keys to his girlfriend (he's tee-total BTW)... who promptly left at the end of the evening in her car with his keys safely in her bag. OH and she also had his mobile, which contains 'her' mobile number that he can never remember I have also finally cemented my relationship with my Aggie DB12s and my Thunderfunk In my search to get the tone I lost when my H&K bassbase combos both died I've been thinking that I've needed to step back from the whole Neo route and the Aggies have convinced me that taking steps backward have got me to where I want to be. I had 2 bass players and a guitarist come up to me during the break/end of night and said that the bass sounded fantastic and they were even more surprised to learn that even though the guitar and drums were through the PA, I was using my backline as the only source. They were actually people who I respect (and they weren't p*ssed) so their comments meant something.

I'm sure that will be covered on one of the links above along with the fact that it pays to give the surface of the pot a bit of a scuff with emery paper to prep the surface for easier/better contact.

I reckon the guy would have been better off selling them separate. What's a decent 4x10 worth (regardless of the fact that it's TE)... £150? You could sell the Behringer for £50 - £70. Do the maths.

I'd narrow your quest down by deciding on 2 main factors; Nickel v Steel (there are one or two more obscure alternatives but generally these 2) and what is your preferred string gauge (don't worry too much about exact string thickness, just light/medium/heavy). Once you've done this you can then start thinking about what different manufacturers offer... of course I could be teaching my Granny to suck eggs and your question might be specifically about manufacturers In which case Thomastik nickels

I agree with the tone of the Neo's changing over time (running in) but it could equally just be that your ears get used to how the new cab sounds. Impressive delivery times! Did the taxes get sorted easily and were they the usual percentage?

As has been stated the letter prefix gives you the month (the letter 'i' is not used) and the last 2 digits give you the year. Early model Warwicks (pre 91/92) have the number on the top of the headstock, after that period they are on the rear of the headstock between the machineheads. If the bass has a painted or heavy lacquered finish it can be difficult to identify. Very early basses (82/83) just had a 3 digit number but these are easily identified by the Spector headstock shape and non-angled tuners.

If you get the chance to try a Glock amp do so (I'm referring to the Bass Art but I think the range in general are similar). It has the warmth of a TF but has all the clarity you could want in a band mix. The only limitations that I found with the Glock was that the EQ was very musical and couldn't do extreme which I can get on the TF. I only require the TF EQ as I'm likely to be running a fretted/fretless and EUB through the same rig on any given night.
