1. We once got booked to do a Steel-yard/Ship-builders end of contract gig... turned out to be the shed/aircraft hangar that they build ships in The scaffolders had erected a 'kin huge stage at one end and the (free) bar was at the other. What an experience to forget... lord please let me forget It was easily the size of a football pitch and then some. They'd booked some PA company to do the sound, unfortunately they underestimated the power required to make a good job. Best proper real stage was the Mayfair @ Newcastle. The smallest stage - far too many to even consider picking the smallest!
 2.
Looks a lot like a Warwick this
I've never ever made the comparison... but seeing as how I owned this bass and would dearly love it back (finances are in check unless I sell my bike), maybe you see more than I do
 3.
Is the sale of this still pending?!!
Just incase WoT is busy... I hope he won't mind me fielding the question for him but I'm 99.99% certain that this was sold to another BCer
 4. Hey it could just be me but does this amp design look familiar to anyone? http://cgi.ebay.de/Meteoro-800-MB-400-Watt...1QQcmdZViewItem
 5. He's photographed the headstock and neck but not the all important body... WHY?
 6. The manager seems a bit of a pr*ck IMHO! Wonder if the tenner would have gone through the till As you say, he isn't offering you a brand new piece of packaging specifically ordered in for you to ship your bass in. They no doubt have to pay to have the cardboard taken away so you are doing them a favour. I have to confess that my local Sound Control (RIP) happily sorted me a box out, to the point that they went out to the bins to retrieve the best one. Soundslive also supplied me with a heavy duty box in order that I could ship a bass Internationally, I did buy a case from them but that was neither here nor there as I'd already asked if they had a box I could have.
 7.
Wow There's some good bits on there for projects .. Knobs for 4.6 Euro? That's about £3.50, or am I missing something Stack knob sets for about £4? http://shop.warwick.de/product_info.php/in...-2-pieces-.html
Nope... that's the honest price for replacement Warwick parts! OK you have to add on P&P but it's reasonable and if you are buying a whole bunch of stuff then costs are distributed. I'm buying a few bits and bobs next week (grub screws, bridge saddles etc) so I'll let you know what the service is like
 8.
This time tomorrow I'll have two
You getting this one?

http://www.thomann.de/gb/schaller_m4a_ebassmechanik.htm That's nothing compared to what they'd like to get for them: http://www.bassguitarpartsdirect.co.uk/sho...2+Bass+Machines I appreciate that it's tough to get started, and even tougher to compete against the buying power of a large, well established company.
Of course the biggest kick in the teeth is that you can buy the Warwick ones direct from the Warwick shop for about £4.50 each (+P&P)! 10. Unfortunately there is no replacement for displacement so you are 'never' going to get the kick that a big multiple driver cab can give without... loads of drivers It's always going to be a compromise and though I'd dearly have loved to get a couple decent sized 2x10s as my gigging backline, I've settled on a pair of Aggie 1x12s which, though they'll never give me the trouser flap of my 6x10 they give me sufficient ooomph to be a standalone rig when not using PA support. They have sufficient volume to give enough bottom end without being overly large to transport. You probably already know the number of quality cabs that are available and I've no doubt everyone will have a different suggestion. The Aggies combined with my Thunderfunk give me a full sounding punchy tone but they aren't the cleanest neutral sounding cabs in the world but then I've come to realise that a neutral transparent tone isn't what I want
 11.
Hi guys, Picked up an AG500 last week and i'm not 100% sure it's for me yet, so i thought i'd see if there's any interest... It's the dual channel version and comes with the foot switch. There's some very light scuffs on top, nothing out of the norm, nor too deep or of any concern. I haven't got any pics yet, but as i say, it's feeler. Looking for £570 which is what it owes me after fuel and what not. I'm in Grantham, Lincs. if anyone wants to have a go on it. Thanks Jamie
I saw that and wondered how it would compare to the Thunderfunk! Can you give any insight?

 13. Most wood care products work for caring for your 'W' bass. I've used various producats and it's a case of trial and error to get the one that feels/smells right for you Just out of interest the bass is natural and not sealed... if the latter waxing is not necessary (other than a bit of oiling/waxing of the neck/fingerboard 'should' it need it).
 14.
I always go wireless - does that protect me? I assumed it did if the amp had double insulation like most domestic electrical goods.
Wireless is obviously keeping you isolated so long as you don't intend touching another single piece of kit; yours or PA. However, it doesn't stop your kit getting damaged!
 15.
was that the one I got off you ?
??? ??? Good point Mark... was it pre-Bassworld days? I thought the first time we met was when I bought your EBS cabs, did you buy it off me before or after the cabs? I remember mine being a nicer deeper all round burgundy rather than a burst effect as the one on eBay. Help me out here mate my memory is shyt
 16. I had one of those burgundy 5s (35" scale) and it was a great bass but I can assure you I bought and subsequently sold it for less than that one... not a bargain in my opinion!
 17.
As far as Warwick being Veblen - You've got to admit that Warwicks are quite expensive when bought from new? I know they are crafted in Germany from gorgeous woods and with great quality control; but £1000+ RRP for a bolt-on Thumb? I love Warwicks and mine is purchased from new, but I'm thinking that is a bit steep given the competition.
Lets think about this... which is worth £1000? A BO neck bass with active electronics, quality hardware, nice woods and concave/convex body shape or BO neck bass with passive electronics, quality hardware, painted body and flat body shape? Probably neither but in crude terms looking at it on paper, I think some of the BO Fender clones could be deemed pricey for what they are.
 18. Odd that someone has used the Veblen goods comparison with Warwick... I'd have thought that by now someone might have expanded the debate out from Squire v Fender to Squire type basses (i.e. cheap BO Fender style basses) to Sadowsky and Lakland! Not wishing to alienate myself from all of the aforementioned companies fans but surely that is a more direct reference to Veblen goods Did anyone hear the sound of a can of worms being opened.
 19. That is a bit naughty. You do have to wonder if he genuinely thinks that it is a Status! I remember these models and I'm trying to recall if it had Washburn marked on the bass somewhere... the pups were Status hyperactives IIRC and as you say the bridge cover has the legend Status but did it have the Washburn logo somewhere that he is genuinely hiding/not declaring? Not an unreasonable price @ £200 (at the minute) for a Status licensed product but unwary buyers could be suckered into higher bids if they think it is a full blown Status.
 20. I may have a Tribal Planet case/gigbag available for sale (used but excellent) if you are interested.
 21.
Guys, Thanks for the info - the two batteries were bought brand new and installed just as I bought the bass, and the previous owner did say that it was heavy on batteries. I've used it on and off over two weeks, probably for a cumulative total of two hours maximum, and always removed the lead when finished (been there before!). I then took my new pride and joy to a band rehearsal, plugged in and............nothing. Switched to passive, and used that for the evening. I'll check out the wiring and soldering soon, but I was hoping it was a known fault with a quick fix. Oh well. Thanks again folks, and any other thoughts, opinions or experiences will be most gratefully received and checked out. Also, any recommended Warwick repair people in Birmingham? Regards, Phil
Don't worry about finding a 'Warwick' specific repairer, it'll be a generic electrical/wiring fault; which at worst will be a fecked preamp and/or pups. Any guitar repair shop should be able to deal with it. As for a quick fix... I've not heard of a fault that would cause such a battery drain in such a short time yet still sound OK when it was in (powered) use.
 22. PM cd_david from the forum, he has a bunch of 4/5/fretted/fretless Overwaters.
 23. I've owned amps for 10-15 years ( you might find that hard to believe by some of my recent trades) and never had them serviced, as I've never known what could be done to them especially as some of mine have been sealed types with no fans so no dust accumulation.
 24. Never come across that one before... sounds daft but you are sure that the batteries installed were new? Has the wiring been tampered with i.e. unfactory like soldering? When you say the batteries last 2 hours do you know for sure they would be dead after 2 hours use (from fresh) or did you leave it (unplugged) for a few days/weeks then went back to find it dead? It's still not right either way but it might help someone else diagnose it for you.
 25. I know fine well that if I arrive at a venue (pub) with a raised area (stage) then I'm invariably going to need to roll off a bit of bottom end. On the same subject my 'usual' tone in the house has a bit of a mid scoop whereas live I know fine well that will just get lost so my EQ is generally flat and I'll work from there to get what I want. You'd be amazed how much mid and top you can add that sounds horrendous in isolation but can be required in a band mix that is relying on backline rather than PA support... unless you play a P bass with flats (sorry MB)
