NORTH EAST BASS BASH - NOVEMBER 2009 - PICS & VIDEO ADDED!
warwickhunt replied to wateroftyne's topic in Events
Well... the 'Borg' has landed with me and should be in WoT's safe hands Saturday, in plenty of time for folks to try on Sunday! Sorry for the cr4ppy pic. I'm off to gig it tonight and then it'll be back to me next week for a recording session. -
Courier points system and courier issues

AAAAARGH! F*CKIN INTERPARCEL... TW*TS! Booked a collection/delivery for my Sadowsky and took the option of an afternoon delivery (after 14:00) for which my wife took the afternoon off work... needless to say I was not impressed when I rang them at 17:00 to enquire if collections were running OK to be told that they'd tried at 11:00 this morning! Regardless of the fact that I selected an after 14:00 collection (and it is printed as such in black and white on my invoice), it seems this is just a 'guideline' and they can't guarantee! So WTF is the point of giving an option? TW*TS. As such I'll never use them again. -

The only way it could be worse is if there was another 0 on the end of the price (£700)!

Two Questions about my Aguilar Setup
warwickhunt replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Amps and Cabs
Cheers for the quick reply Warwick Yeah, forgot about that. If I was the size of Ronnie Dio ,or even corbett castors would have been better. Think you're right about the trolley. A while back, a nice BC sent me a link to a good one. Then , my computer had problems making me lose everything..........
I had a link to this one on my thread http://www.liftruck.co.uk/ruxxac-carts.html But the price...! -
Two Questions about my Aguilar Setup
warwickhunt replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Amps and Cabs
A couple of things have been nagging me lately. (I don't have a wife) I was wondering ,regarding the DB112 Cabinet whether I could get some castors for it. If so, where? (Those narrow prison like spaces in practice rooms are getting to me) Regarding the Head, are those 'Head Cases' of any use? Can the amp breathe? If so, I would like to get a Tweed one. Please advise Cheers
Loads of places will supply casters BUT if you are fitting them to the base of the cab have you considered how far you would have to bend down to push it? I'm looking for a sack trolley to put mine onto. -

Soz, was the other thread not clear enough? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry657367 "Can anyone tell me if I can connect a tecamp XS110 1x10 bass cab to a Tecamp combo 112. Its has a speaker out at the back of the combo so does that mean I can connect the two together and use as a complete unit." Yes "I am also a bit confused regarding ohms!!" So are loads of people "The manual says you are free to use either speaker output if you want to connect more than one speaker cabinet. Just make sure that the minimum load of each power amp is no less than 4 ohms. Thus you can connect two 8 ohms speakers or one 4 ohms speaker." I'm fairly certain that you haven't quoted verbatim from the manual. Basically your Tecamp 112 combo will have one speakon speaker output on the rear, this can be connected to ANY 8 ohm cab NOT a 4 ohm cab (capitals used to save you an expensive experiment)! You can not connect a pair of 8 ohm cabs to the combo nor can you connect a 4 ohm cab. "Do I have the option of connecting a Phil Jones Suitcas extension cab to the combo." Yes, you can connect a PJB extension cab to the Tecamp combo... so long as it is 8 ohms. "Would this work or would it sound rubbish..." Yes it would work, as to whether it would sound any good is down to personal taste but it will increase the perceived volume and sound bigger/fuller.
Coooooooool. You're a star for sorting that out mate.

Aye, Cheers warwickhunt for that. The Hellborg head is something we mere mortals wouldn't normally get a chance to try out. The list price is somewhat restrictive..Non of the shops up in the North East have it in stock (That I've seen) Let's hope the gig you've got on Sunday gets cancelled or something - It's a real shame you can't make it. SteveC
No worries. WoT has kindly agreed to bring the Hellborg along... and bring it back I hasten to add! Feel free to give it a go and even though it isn't a studio or true 'live' situation, any comments would be greatly appreciated. If it keeps raining the way it has been the gig may well get cancelled as Morpeth was that fated Market town that suffered from the flood devastation last year. -

It's 'Trigger's Broom' all over again!

A couple of pics of the 'damage' on the bass. I should add that the bass is in pretty good condition for its age but it is a gigging bass not a museum/collectors piece. Sorry for the gratuitous 'foot' shot and the flash does appear to make it look worse than it is but there you go. There is also a small nick/chip out of the headstock, just a surface sliver but as pictured.
How about a trade for the 210 combo? It's a Kg lighter
Nice try. The thing with the 2x12 is that aside from the fact that it is only 1kg heavier, it actually comes equipped with its own built in 'tilt-and-roll' caster system... not sure that the 210 has that! Saying that; at this weight the 2x12 combo inc 500w amp weighs the same as ONE of my Aggie 1x12 cabs and is an easy one handed lift by either the top handle or one of the side recessed handles.
That is a LOT of PA and equipment to carry in one car. I feel quite lucky now to normally just take a 1 bass in case, bag of leads/sansamp etc, and normally LM3 in amp bag.
The drummer has his kit (inc' drum trigger sequencer gubbins) + the RCF bass bin which just about fills his Passat Est whilst the poor singer/guitarist just has a Corsa and fills that (with seats down) with his amp, pedals, guitars etc. as well as the remaining PA inc' stands, monitor and backdrop etc. Seems like a ridiculous amount of gear at times but we have a lot less than some bands. My other band has loads more lights, smoke, monitors etc. but luckily it all miraculously turns up to gigs in a big van and I just turn up with my bass gear!
Could a trolley sort out the weight and transport issues? My GS112 cabs sounded great (I still miss the Aguilar sound) but they were just too heavy for me and a “one handed lift”. I changed them for the Bergantino cabs and couldn’t be happier.
Tbh Chris, you're probably right! It's just that I transport gear to gigs in my estate car and with everything that I already carry; x2 Aggies, TF, Pedalboard, Gramma Pad, Bag of leads, Guitar stands, x1 bass guitar PLUS 75% of our bands PA inc' x2 RCF mid/tops, Flightcased Mixing desk, Flightcased effects, BIG bag of leads and assorted bits, box containing x2 iColors lights and associated controllers and cables... carrying a trolley just adds to the bulk. However, as you say carrying a trolley might be one more thing but it would make moving stuff easier. I think I'll look again into what's available and how small they can fold down.

Another of my failed, ill conceived excursions into getting something that is half the weight of what I already own but with the same/better quality of tone... possibly not the best sales line ever! In all fairness this will blow someone away but it's just not my cup of tea. I'd rather do a trade for something interesting but of course I'll take an offer of cash, just PM me. I'd possibly be interested in a nice lightweight bass (nothing over 9lb) and for the right instrument I could put cash forward. I'd also be interested in an amp or cab(s) but they are going to have to offer something that my TF/Aggie rig doesn't already have; i.e. lighter weight, superior specs. Whatever I take as trade I've got to stand a fighting chance of turning it back around on here without hemorrhaging value... because you just know I'm not gonna keep it.

NORTH EAST BASS BASH - NOVEMBER 2009 - PICS & VIDEO ADDED!
warwickhunt replied to wateroftyne's topic in Events
Regarding gear at the Bash... Courtesy of Hans Peter Wilfer (Warwick owner... as in the company, not just owner of one of their basses) and Florin the Moderator over on the Warwick forum; there'll be an opportunity for anyone interested in trying out a Warwick Hellborg Preamp, to do so! If WoT would be kind enough to take it along on the day (S*ds Law, I now have a gig that afternoon), it'll be available for those attending to try out through your existing rig or if you have no gear with you then smiley nicely and see if you can blag someone else's, with your own bass without the confines and restrictions of a traditional retail outlet. You can hook it up to your monster rig or your practice combo it's up to you; if you are unsure how to do this I'm certain WoT or one of the many knowledgeable, helpful soles there will give you a hand. All I ask is that you 1) take care of it and 2) write a brief note about what you thought of the preamp. I'll supply a book or some paper format to fill in, nothing complicated or onerous and I'll not mark you down for spelling or neatness. I'll collate all of the comments and feed them back to Warwick (market research if you like). Enjoy your day... skulks off mumbling about bliddy Sunday afternoon gigs! -
