The debt grows... but the confusion diminishes. Thanks for the info, you Warwick legend you. It's quite obvious now it's been pointed out! It's one of those "can't see the wood for the trees" things. Really like the look of the Stage II. Very clever. Very expensive. (I did "look after" that P/J for you for about 4 months... does that settle my debt retrospectively? )
Debt settled then mate! Just remember that Streamer/Corvette basically refers to the outline shape but there are a multitude of different pup config (PJ / JJ / ££ / JJJ / MM / soapbar) and manufacture (80's basses can have EMG, Bart, SD or virtually any mainstream 80's manufacturer but later basses are generally MEC), preamp (again generally MEC with 2 or 3 band EQ, sometimes if it is early it may not be MEC) and though there are some different models of Warwick that have been set neck, the 2 options are basically BO or NT (with revealled/concealled construction). I think that just about covers it!
LX is bolt-on. Stage I is neck-thru clearly visible from the front nearly always has PJ pups. Stage II is neck-thru and has a cleverly hidden neck (i.e. from front it looks like a BO) and has JJ pups. You are now forever in my debt.
To add the LX BO 4 string generally has PJ pups (same as NT) whereas the LX and NT 5 strings have JJ/Soapbar pups; SSII will have JJ whether it is a 4 or 5 string... more debt!
If anyone can explain to me the differences between the Streamer LX, Stage I and Stage II (and any other Streamer variants), I'll be forever grateful. Is it just pups/electronics?
LX is bolt-on. Stage I is neck-thru clearly visible from the front nearly always has PJ pups. Oh and among a whole bunch of stuff for sale on here there is an LX5 for sale at the mo for £700 or offers.

I agree 2nd hand is the 'only' way to go, I assume that's where you were headed as the new prices on any of the NT basses will be WAY higher than £1000. Thumb bass (BO or NT) is a bit of a Marmite bass; distinct tonal slant and not my cup of tea due to the position of the first fret when the bass is strapped on at a sensible height. Streamer (BO NT Jazzman $$ etc) my personal favourite shape is the SSI/SSII/Spector (though Corvette is close); more tonal variation, which might help if you play various musical styles, balance is generally excellent. Corvette (nearly always BO but there are NT available); Loads of different permutations of pups and good balance. Not everyone's cup of tea visually (who said 'horn') but a huge range to choose from. Dolphin/Infinity etc you are starting to talk big money (as you are with the SSII) and definitely try before you buy. Loads of passed threads on BC and there was a recent one which had a lot of positive views of the various basses.

Warwick Streamer Jazzman - leicester
I've been watching this for a few days, hoping it'd stay low. Ho hum. So, John, place your bets... what's the final price going to be, and will it be a good price?
Can't see it going a 'lot' higher if at all... especially as the blue one is on a BIN of £699. -
when I posted the price was around £350, 2hours later its near £700...
So you posted on a bass forum about a bass that was going cheap and you sound surprised that it has gone up... -
Do NOT plug both outputs into one cab, unless it is a especifically designed/modded 'stereo' cab, which your Hydrive 4x10 is not.

Both now sold.

going rates for a second hand mark hoppus bass
prices seem to range quite alot on here and im curious.
That rings true for virtually 'any' piece of kit, you've just identified the MH disparity because that's what you are interested in. The other anomally is that when you have money in hand and are looking to buy a particular item they are always going for the top end of their worth but when you are skint, or worse, selling the same item; they are being given away! -

Unfortunately I never got to meet Si, I'm just another one of those 'imaginary friends' (as SWMBO refers to BCers) but I exchanged many a PM with him and my thoughts go out to his family and friends (imaginary or otherwise).
Fender should do a non reliced version of this bass (betterwoods, nitro finish, US p/up,etc) for those who don't like the look and should do a 60s rosewood edition too. This would probably impact the sales of other models though.
Isn't that the HW1 bass then?

I think I tried the same one that WoT tried and I agree there was something sadly amiss with the G string output; added to which I like a lower action than WoT and I'd expect a bass costing that much to set up well without shimming but that is what I'd have had to do to get it to work for me!

Old material dug out from the loft...
warwickhunt replied to ShergoldSnickers's topic in General Discussion
A recent house move had me digging about and I uncovered a few bits and pieces. Morgan Le Fay - circa 92/93 with my 91 Red Streamer Stage I (Oddly enough our very own WoT went on to further things with this very same band) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=attach...st&id=17158 The Black Banana Band - 92/93 with Streamer Corvette 'Infinette' http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=attach...st&id=17161 -
i believe they do a 'covered' MM pickup that's not as costly as a bart
I don't have a MM bass or even a MM pup in front of me but is it not possible to simply remove the plastic pup surround and replace that with a 'sealed' top (a la Bartolini/EMG) cover... failing that if the plastic surround comes off can you fit a spacer that will mean the pole pieces are dropped below the level of the surround (in my mind I know what I'm talking about, even if nobody else does ). I am just thinking out loud here and it might be a completely sealed unit for all I know!

I suppose you pays your money... I have to confess I've not sold anything on eBay for ages. I'm also amazed when folks advertise basses/gear on BC at the same price that they have it listed on eBay; common sense dictates that if it goes on eBay for the starting bid or a BIN, then you get shafted with the fees (as has been pointed out £100 on £800), so why not make a compromise and 'slightly' drop the price on here to generate a sale. Just an observation and not something that I'm 'demanding' people do.

Electrician's insulating tape across the top of the pup... sorted.

When someone actually explained to me what the difference was between a 'major' and 'minor' scale! I'd been a self taught bassist for some years and knew exactly what was needed to make a bass line work (even if I did need to run through something a couple of times i.e. not knowing Maj Or Min) and learning songs from recordings didn't require me to know Maj/Min. However, when a shocked fellow bassist realised that I genuinely had no idea what the reference to Maj/Min meant (I'd done LOADS of gigs and I could find any note on the fingerboard easy enough) it took about 3 minutes for him to change my whole percetion of how things 'worked'! Never assume that everyone knows what you are talking about.
