Ha Ha, when I saw the thread resurrection I thought to myself that I could post Little Simz 😃... you're ahead of me!
I think everything I've heard by her has been great.
Sounds like you were just being honest and trying to manage expectations. But then maybe that made them think you’re not the right fit….. which may or may not be correct.
The opposite approach brings to mind a phrase which has entered the lexicon recently “fake it till you make it”!
Yep, still in working in working condition! Now one of my kids has left home I’ve got room to keep it permanently out of the lost, do hopefully I can not get rusty again.
I'm willing to hold my head high with the banjo, but draw the line at clip-on tuners while performing (it's OK while you're actually tuning... then unclip it!)
Does anyone know of an example on YT or whatever of the same group of musicians perform the same piece twice.... once in ET and once in Just intonation?
It came up on my FB feed. I thought it was surprisingly good, had a definite Stranglers feel and thought the video was great. Didn’t realise it was a cover.
Not keen on sunburst or natural wood finishes.
I don't have a default preference, but the most of the last few basses I have fancied have been orange.
See this example from the bassist of The Orielles:
(Impact of bass is lessened somewhat by the brighter orange jumper, but what do I know about colour co-ordination!)
Had first rehearsal after lockdown and was dreading the worst. We went through a bunch of the more well known song and went surprisingly well.
Then the drummer said he wanted leave for personal reasons ( and guitarist will take this opportunity to drop out too) so currently the band is in limbo.🙁
I’ve found some tips (including Deering) with regard to coordinator rod.
Basically they suggest to loosen off the nut on the outside of the shell - but my model doesn’t have one just some kind of fixed thing:
It has a hexagonal block on the rod so I twisted it to pull the rod further away from the heel.
Seems to have helped - now it’s playable without the lolly stick👍…. Thanks!
Not a particular fan, but can’t fault the quality of their output, and they have a fair few songs I do like.
But my immediate reaction is that they should have done it when they were younger.
Yeah I know, you can’t turn back the clock!
Thanks - I haven’t seen her before.
Actually the style she was playing is “clawhammer” and that’s what I’m planning to incorporate into my playing . Although it’s a banjo style I learnt it already on ukulele, so now will bring it home to banjo.
Probs incorporate a bit of finger picking, but won’t be learning the “rolls” which is the style most people think of when they think of banjo.
Also just watched the Punk program. Yes, difficult to recognise Lyndon ….. he also seemed a bit different - more reflective somehow.
Overall enjoyed it,
I think there are two more.
