They ripped up some 'Grease' pics at the beginning. I think the slap mime may have been a similarly two-fingered (one-thumbed?) salute to the then-unknown Level 42.
'Like Clockwork' is a fantastic track, goes against the bad rep that they have.
We cover that in my punk/new wave covers band and it's a great song to play.
Hadn't heard this before, but it was in a TV program tonight (Professor T) and properly caught my ear.
I think this is the version... Peter, Paul and Mary - 500 Miles away from Home.
Been giving it a couple of plays on Youtube:
I saw a clip of a Daryl interview. He related that at the first rehearsal/meeting with the band Keith came up to him and said something like " So you're one of Mick's boys".
Sounded like Daryl took it in good humour and actually gets on fine with Keith.
I think SJ fits with band politics too. Daryl came from Jagger’s solo band, which rankled with Richards.
Now Richards gets to bring in one of ‘his’ guys.
Learn the lines as played by the previous player. That proves you can learn and copy when needed.
Pick some (not all) songs you think could be different, and come up with some new lines . That proves you can contribute creatively.
I'd avoid going in with suggestions about how the existing members could improve their parts........ it might be appropriate eventually but may come off as smart-@rse in an audition.
Indeed. No problem with Hooky’s style…. Just it’s the opposite of Dusty’s.
I guess it’s just the way it goes making a news show, and good to get the subject covered at all.
Here's my nomination from the Fall. Not my favourite song (although it ranks highly), but it is very post-punk and is equally likeable by fans and non-fans. Totally Wired.
