  1. Played through a Genz Benz 610 for the first time at last night’s rehearsal. Both the Genz and the Peavey head are the studio’s and I ran my Sansamp straight into the input rather than the power amp in. Sounded monstrous 😍
  2. This is literally my dream bass - the colour, the vibe, everything. I just don’t have the readies in one lump unfortunately 😭
  3. That’s probably the best advice, he’s a nice guy to deal with and will certainly be able to tell you all you need to know. In ‘theory’ any 12ax7 should be fine, but there are numerous THD variations across brands and models that mean you’ll get varying results. Depends what sort of sound you’re looking to get. I’ve got an ABM and have had a couple different ones in the past, but I’ve never been blown away by the overdriven tube sound - if it’s warmth/fatness you want I think it’s great though.
  4. Do you know what brand/model you currently have in there?
  5. That’s great news to hear you’re ok Phil 😊
  6. Sold a compressor pedal to Paddy. No problems at all, a super easy guy to deal with and great communication 😊
  7. I can see what you’re saying, but there’s huge difference in a synth replicating instruments but still being played by a human versus a computer generating the entirety of the music.
  8. Jo bought my set of Labella Flats, super friendly with no problems at all. A great Basschatter to deal with 😊
  9. I'm sure I've seen amps that have ability to have the effects loop pre or post DI. Maybe I'm remembering something that doesn't exist, it has been known 😂
  10. According to the ABM manual... DIRECT INJECT (D.I.) - A balanced D.I. is provided on a latching XLR socket. This has a push button placed below it that allows the user to choose either a Pre E.Q. signal (button pushed IN) or a Post E.Q. Post Sub and effects signal (button OUT). Pretty sure from experience the valve drive is part of the preamp signal so would be included in the Pre signal. Can't find anything about the compressor position, but the sub and effects loop are definitely after the EQ, so won't be included in a DI signal if you're choosing the Pre option.
  11. Agreed, if your bass tone is integral to the band’s sound and you’re sending a pre eq signal you’re at the complete mercy of the engineer to approximate the sound out front.
  12. A good quality XLR cable is what you need. XLR cables are used for DI’s as they provide a balanced, low impedance signal the desk needs. You’ll need a female/male type. The length however depends how far away your amp is from the mixing desk or a DI box. A 20ft cable should be ok unless you’re playing at Wembley Stadium 😄
  13. Post eq means the eq settings you are using on your amp will be sent to the pa so it ‘should’ replicate the sound you’re generating from your amp. If you have extreme eq settings some engineers don’t like it. Pre eq takes the signal from the preamp before your eq settings have affected the tone (essentially the sound of your bass/any effects you might be using in-line that aren’t in an effects loop) and uses that cleaner signal where the mixer/soundperson can tweak the eq on the mixing desk to create the front of house bass sound, meaning your amp tone is really used as a monitor on stage.
  14. This list of feedback is a long one but wanted to add my 'two penneth' worth 😁 Bought a P bass loom from John, it arrived quickly and I installed the same day - All very clean work and super easy to swap out the stock one with no faffing (the solderless connector makes everything a breeze). Bass sounds lovely and clear, the top end is much more apparent now, in fact everything just seems clearer to my ears. The pot shafts are very smooth and I upgraded to a Pure Tone jack for peace of mind when jumping around - was definitely worth the upgrade it's rock solid!
  15. Got any more lying around 🤣
  16. I use a Rode NT1-A (bought from this very parish) with a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 and they work great, both are highly regarded in the home recording industry. The Rode is a condenser mic that excels at vocals and both acoustic/electric guitars. For electric and basI i do go direct into the 4i4 though, find it much easier and the results are way more consistent in my smaller studio room.
  17. Selling these lovely Labella 760FL flats (The 3rd set I've tried in the past couple of years!) as I've realised that no matter how much I love the sound, the feel and string tension just isn’t for me. Back to the rounds! 😀 The strings themselves are in excellent condition and have only been on my precision for a few weeks, theres a small amount of fraying on the headstock end silks where the string goes into the tuning post but this should be hidden when the strings are installed. These have been cut for standard Precision scale length… Asking for £25 posted please - Payment via BACS or PayPal please. Any questions please ask. Thanks, James
  18. Selling my Markbass Compressore as it's too big to use alongside my BDDI Deluxe and a few other pedals that I want to keep now that I've finally got round to getting a pedalboard. Everything works fine, it's in good condition and as the compression itself is provided by the valve circuit it's got a fantastic warm, full sound. Comes with a dedicated power supply I had to buy as this pedal requires a 12v dc supply with a minimum current of 600ma. Am open to trades for another compressor in a smaller package - Something like a Cali76, MXR 87 or Empress Compressor would be ideal with cash going either way if the right pedal comes along. I don't have the original box but it will be well packed. Also has velcro on the bottom. Looking for £110 posted - Payment via BACS or PayPal please. Any questions please ask. Thanks for looking, James
  19. Bought a pedalboard from Michael - absolutely brilliant service, he was super quick to reply to my PM, posted next day and arrived very well packed and super quick too. A great guy to deal with, highly recommended Basschatter 😊
  20. Hi @mikegrovesmusic, I’ll take this if it’s still available please 🙏🏻
  21. Glad you're feeling better Phil!
  22. Jeez what an abomination! Noticed at the bottom of the page that the Nate Mendel P is over £1,400 and a JMJ Mustang is almost £1,300 new 😮
  23. Also, there should be a layout with the kit that gives you the location of each component and it’s orientation if it’s polarised. Judging by the questions you’re asking I’d definitely have a read of Fuzzdog’s pedal building guide before you start. Some of it only applies to the kits they sell but there’s loads of good info on the basics that will help you a lot. Your can find it at… http://pedalparts.co.uk/docs/GeneralBuildGuide.pdf
  24. I’m going one step further. Currently investing in my future pedal endeavours by planting trees for carbon, mining ore for metal and have a couple of silicon and germanium saplings ready for planting out - It’s the only way you’ll get the authentic tone 🤪
  25. Ooooh nice, I’ll be watching with interest as I was looking at the vong filterung a few weeks ago. Is that the same kit or a different one?
