Proper job! Watching with interest. What size is it?

Can't remember if I've posted this already. if I have it bears repeating

Not doing it for me. Jazz by numbers. Nothing clever. Guitarist: cardigan, check. Tie, check. Pulling ecstatic faces while playing simple chords, check. 😂 All IMO etc etc.

I had this stunning bass made 3 years ago specifically for the Bon Jovi tribute band. At the time I was unable to find a lightweight 5 string Precision bass so decided to go for it. I decided to step down from the band recently and, in all honesty, find I have no use for this beauty so rather than it just sitting there in the case I have decided to move it on. A bit of a wrench as I have never had a bass made to my spec before and am unlikely to do it again. A classically elegant and beautiful bass. So, here it is - a Maruszczyk (I still have to check how to spell this) Jake 5 that I configured via the custom shop, defaulting to better quality at pretty much every step. Finished in solid black with BWB 3 ply pickguard. Swamp ash body. Bird's eye maple neck and fingerboard with carbon rods in a matte finish. Luminlay side dots. Headstock with simple M logo. Hipshot B style bridge with 17mm spacing. 45mm at the nut. Hipshot HB6C 1/2" tuners. Passive electrics with usual P bass volume and tone. Domed chrome knobs. Delano PC5 AL/M2 pickup. Currently strung with TI flats. Weighs 3.7kg, just over 8lbs. I just ran this through the configurator and if you wanted to make one just like this it would cost you £1900. The body has some very slight surface scratching on the front, as does the pickguard. There is also some very light buckle rash on the back. I imagine these would all polish out. No dings or dongs. 9/10 condition. The low B is strong. The Delano pickup is on the rude side of traditional. It will do vintage just nicely with the tone rolled off but open it up and you have a nice aggressive tone. Frets are barely broken in It will come with a generic ABS hard case by Chase and inside will be the 'birth certificate' and spec booklet. I am looking for £1200 collected from South Benfleet. I would consider a courier but it would have to be fully insured and therefore expensive. Mainland UK only. What I would rather do is pocket fuel costs and deliver it myself up to perhaps 150 miles - this is something we can discuss. At the moment I am not looking at trades or offers, thanks.

I like slap bass but am not a slave to it. Can't do it very well but that is neither here nor there. Here is one of many reasons why I like slap bass. Can't imagine it would sound anything like as powerful without it.

What can I say? Nik is one of the reasons Basschat is such a nice place. You are a true gent, Sir.

UFO's first 2 albums were forgettable IMO but Phenomenon was phenomenal. And try saying that after a packet of wine gums.

Don't know if it has been mentioned but I imagine non-musos would possibly know Yes by 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart'. -

I like this little vid, too. -
I am in two bands that are kind of at opposite ends of the scale. With my Bon Jovi tribute band I try to play as close to the original as I can - with the caveat that Hugh McDonald is a better bass player than I'll ever be so I just do my best. In this context I think it is quite important to keep it accurate. My other band is a blues/rock trio playing stuff as recorded by Cream, Hendrix, SRV, Jeff Healey, 3 Kings etc. Generally speaking we do what blues/rock trios have always done - retain the essence of the song whilst finding some room to make our own interpretation. Which I find very enjoyable.

Switching to a FRFR set up has been, for me, much simpler and actually quite liberating I am not particularly technically minded and found a lot of the minutiae about amps/cabs etc very confusing. My 3 piece blues band needed to upgrade the pa from the archaic vintage gear we managed to cobble together. After following the stuff on here I persuaded the guys to go with 2 x RCF EVOX 8 V2 and I go straight into the desk from my pedal board. It sounds amazing, especially when the drums go through it although we don't do that every time. Not so much volume but balance and depth. The great thing about this set up, I I confess I don't fully understand, is you can position it behind you so it removes the need for monitors and makes the whole set up and playing area very simple. Guitarist generally uses his amp, mind you, as he prefers the valve tone from it. For other band situations/home practice I bought the RCF 732A. So 'my' sound is totally portable.

I had a black Scavenger bass, if memory serves it was an '80. Loved it to bits until I hurt my back and then the nearly 11lb weight become an issue. It was 9/10 condition as we ll.

Ta, I'll give that a go.

This is definitely doing my head in. Last night I was all set up for the Jamkazam and according to the meters my output was within the acceptable limits, green lights across the board. Except no-one could hear me and I couldn't hear anyone. I've spent most of today uninstalling the Behringer ASIO driver, reinstalling it, changing ports, changing settings. Each step involves re-booting. After several attempts it seems I can only have the driver set up for mp3 playback and recording by leaving Jamkazam out of the equation. And if I try to fiddle with the settings for Jamkazam nothing at all works. So to preserve my sanity I have made an executive decision to abandon trying to get Jamkazam set up. Should be able to rehearse 'properly' soon enough, well in time for the one ad only gig that is booked.

I hope you sipped from opposite sides.

I have a Jamkazam rehearsal later so will leave it well alone until after then.... no point tempting fate
